  1. Since all baseball teams are dependent on one another and in general dependent on the structure of Major League Baseball, I think the teams should have to put all of their television revenue into one pot and then divide it equally. The Yankees could not sell their television rights to YES without the likes of the Royals, A's, Rays, Twins, Blue Jays, etc. In fact, all 162 of the games they play and televise can only be played and shown with the cooperation of the other team and structure of Major League Baseball. That should solve the revenue problems.
  2. below average foot speed for a SS.
  3. I am. That charge call on Hayward when he made the basket was a hard call to take. I dont like to get down on referees because I am an official and I know how hard their job is, but I would tend to think with that type of play that a properly trained official - which these guys were - would have instinctively seen that as a block on Sheyer, but because he was a dookie the call was a charge. That was a 3 point swing at least that may have had an impact on the ending.
  4. Every time they replayed that last shot it looked closer and closer to going in.
  5. Well you certainly could not ask for more from an NCAA Championship game. I just hope Butler can get a good look a decent shot off here.
  6. Good game so far, Butler up one. This kid for Matt Howard plays basketball like a spaz. I cant remember watching a player play at this level who appeared to have less of a grasp on the concept 5 fouls per game. The guy looks so out of control half the time he looks like he could get called for a foul just about every time he gets near the ball.
  7. Most National prognosticators I have seen/read have predicted Pujols and Mauer as MVPs and the Phillies and the Yankees in the World Series. They are split about 50/50 on who wins the World Series. The Cy Young's going to either Lincecum or Halladay in the NL and Sabathia or Lester in the AL. ROY has already been given to Jason Heyward with Brian Matusz picking it up in the AL. they are really are going out on a limb by predicting the exact same things to happen this year as happened last.
  8. The past two years I believe that Extra Innings has provided a free one week preview. Anyone know if they will be doing this again? It always helps me get through that first week when there are many day games, off days and rain outs. Found this. http://www.multichannel.c...On_MLB_Extra_Innings.php
  9. Defense has become so important now that it is overrated in my opinion. If you can get a bat like Dye's and combine him with Edmonds I think we'd be just fine in RF.
  10. Jeff Cirillo was on the D List today and this was before the game was on. He said that when he used to come to the field in spring training and he would see the flags blowing at all that it would be a field day for the hitters. Im not too worried.
  11. My heart skipped a beat, but before I got the end of the thread title I remembered what day this was, so there.
  12. Those were all very fun and I like the Yovani one the best as well Hawing.
  13. Another early K on a breaking ball from Kazmir. I dont know what options are out there aside from Stern, who has had a decent camp, but I am somewhat troubled that Corey Hart is going to most likely get substantial playing time for this team this year. If McGehee turns back into a pumpkin this offense could be pretty thin outside of the 3 and 4 spots.
  14. A sore neck? Is this some type of joke - from watching line drives fly off the bats of opposing hitters. This is the news that Macha couldnt tlak about yesterday?
  15. IMs, EMs, FBs....Im old.
  16. Does it seem brutal to anyone else? Not the teams necessarily, but the home/road division of games. For instance, after opening up at home for 6 games they embark on a 3 city, 9 game, 11 day road trip. Back home for 6 games in 6 days, then no day off in between and they leave for another 3 city, 10 game, 11 day road trip before coming back coming back for 6 and then leaving again for 7. All in all they play 18 of their first 44 at home (that is 26 on the road). The part I worry about is the two back-to-back 11 day, 3 city road trips.
  17. I watched one team all year, that is Wisconsin. I saw bits and pieces of Marquette, but mainly I just saw Wisconsin. Now, to watch Evan Turner and John Wall slice through the lane and toss up a prayer with 25 seconds on the shot clock I wonder how these teams are as good as they are. Watching kentucky, they throw the ball away it seems every other possession, same with Ohio State at the end of the game yesterday. Yeah, its fast paced and they are REALLY good athletes, but I dont see how this is more of an exciting product than what Wisconsin does. I know they are better, but I think it is pretty ugly to watch if you ask me.
  18. picture the Dodger hitters shooting baseballs out of a cannon and every once in a while they shoot one right at a Brewer and that is pretty much what is happening.
  19. I have it DVR'd, but did anyone catch their Brewers all-time home grown team that they have been doing for each team during this series?
  20. Kansas didnt kill me, thank goodness. They were the only #1 seed I didnt put into the final four. This should help Ohio State make it to the Finals, as I have in my bracket. Woot.
  21. Yeah, that isnt a stunner at all. I had St. Mary's into the second round, but the reason I chose Baylor into the Elite 8 was because I thought there was a decent chance Villanova would lose this game.
  22. That is what I hate about Wisconsin. Given their style of play, it is almost NEVER a surprise if they get beat in the first round. Also, I do feel bad for Marquette. They had a great season and they caught a red hot Washington team at the wrong time. That being said, I felt they were in control the entire game up until the end. As far as "home field" advantage goes, as Peavey stated, it is a haul from Washington to San Jose. I dont think it matters where the game would have been. At these opening rounds games, the crowd, especially late in the evening is ALWAYS pulling for the lower seed to pull the upset. The game could have been played in Bangor, Maine and it would have been the same atmosphere for Marquette.
  23. I dont expect the Big 10 to be world beaters tomorrow either. I think Purdue could lose and Minnesota is obviously an 11 seed, and I dont want to get into the Big 10 vs. Big East pissing match again. I just think two things. The Big 10 is underrated and the Big East is overrated. Now, I am NOT saying that the Big 10 is BETTER than the Big East, just that all this talk of the Big East being so deep and awesome might be a little over blown.
  24. After the 2011 season, and as it stands right now, there will be 4 very good first basemen available via Free Agency. Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard, Adrian Gonzalez and Prince Fielder. Does the fact that the Market is so flooded with 1b coupled with some teams like the Yankees already set at 1b mean that Prince's price goes down at all? Or at least doesnt go past Teixeira's?
