  1. 1. Weeks 2. Gallardo 3. Axford Braun, Fielder and Hart all tie for 4th.
  2. Im not looking...Gimme Zack Duke!
  3. I thought the headline of the thread was what Boras wanted for a Fielder extension.
  4. 8 games suspension for Morgan for charging the mound. Just once I'd like to see a pitcher who hits a guy in the head on purpose get nicked for a 35-40 game suspension (8 starts). That will never happen...so Nyger Please! take your medicine and head to first.
  5. Im Atletico Madrid. They have some good strikers and I have had a lot of success with them.
  6. So where do people see the best of this era ranking in an all time list?
  7. if you add Parker, Murphy, Lynn and Carter, who do you take out of the top 10?
  8. A 15 year stretch in a unique era in baseball. Their entire careers do not need to fall within that stretch, but their primes or their emergence should. Who do you got? I will try to put together a list, but who is on yours? 1. Rickey Henderson 2. George Brett 3. Mike Schmidt 4. Robin Yount 5. Paul Molitor 6. Dave Winfield 7. Eddie Murray 8. Wade Boggs 9. Jim Rice 10. Reggie Jackson Other than perhaps Rickey Henderson at #1, that is in no particular order, just a list. So my next question, where do any of those guys appear in a top 25 hitters of all time list? Do any of them make it? Where abouts would you put them? What is it about that era that seems to me to be forgotten somewhat?
  9. Cant the brewers be just as aggressive next year with their pick given that they have 1.7 million they didnt spend this year? What good is having the 15th pick if we spend it on Kyle Peterson?
  10. It sure would be a shame if he got hurt in college. Even with however he performs in college he can only go up 14 slots, he could go down 1,500.
  11. Im not saying you are right or wrong, but what does it say about your organization if every time a player leaves, thoughts of bringing that player back in a different role are met with 'that bridge has been burned" or some other variation on a sour relationship? It's got to be a least a bit concerning.
  12. Counsel is getting old, Weeks has been injury prone. What if JJ Hardy is non-tendered. How would people feel about him coming back to be the backup 2b-SS-3b? Our bench is too left handed the way it is and he is obviously a fan-favorite? What would it cost? I dont know, 1.5-2 million maybe? Especially with back-to-back "down" years. Thoughts?
  13. 82-80. I know it sounds trivial, and it is, but it is an improvement from last year and it is over .500. It could be a pretty good springboard into next season.
  14. Paul DePodesta is being played by Jonah Hill in the Moneyball movie. Maybe we can hire Hill.
  15. Ok, new question. Who is the best Badger in the NHL? By best Badger, I mean best in the NHL, not best in college. What other Badgers are in the NHL?
  16. This thread should point out that Edwin Jackson is worth Daniel Hudson, while apparently Dave Bush is worth nothing. Hell, Id trade Parra for a Hudson type at this point.
  17. Yeah, I dont get this. What it tells me is that pitching is extremely OVER valued, despite its admittedly high value otherwise. Price Fielder and/or Corey Hart cant bring back a comparable pitching prospect, but a reliever that is the definition of average and is overpaid to boot brings back the #2 prospect in the Twins system.
  18. The Maple Leafs sound a lot like the Cubs.
  19. I think I have it down to three teams. The Penguins, the Blues and the Maple Leafs. If Quebec ever gets a team again I'd like to root for them, its a neat city. My son, somehow, has become a Hartford Whalers fan, maybe because I put Brass Bonanza as my ringtone for a while. He still doesnt understand why they dont exist anymore.
  20. So I have never been a huge hockey fan, but always had respect for it and really enjoyed going to Badger games the past 10 years when I lived in Madison. My 4 year old son is now playing and he is nuts about it, that makes me more interested, but since Wisconsin doesnt have a professional team I dont have a natural team to root for. So which pro team should I pick? Here are some thoughts, maybe one of these, maybe a team I am overlooking. In no particular order: St. Louis Blues: Pros: My childhood favorite team. My mother's side of the family is from the 'Lou and they always sent me Blues stuff when I was a kid. Brett Hull is my all time favorite player and back in the early 90s I dominated in Sega Genesis NHL Hockey with the Blues. Hull, Curtis Joseph, Craig Janney, Adam Oates, Brendan Shanahan and later Al McInnis and Chris Pronger. Cons: Lost touch with the team over the past 10 years, no clue who is on the squad now and not a lot of recent success or rich history of titles. Chicago Blackhawks: Pros. Local, geographically speaking. Just signed Jack Skille, a badger. Just won the Cup, so they are good. Cons: It's Chicago, 'nuff said. Minnesota Wild: The other local team. Richer Hockey history in the state - even if Wild are not the Stars. Robbie Earl. Cons: Not as hard to root for Minnesota as Chicago, but with Badger rivalry with the Gophers, hard to align self with the city. Pittsburgh Penguins: Mario Lemiuex, Jagr, Kevin Stevens days made Pens attractive second team in the 90s. Badger Bob Johnson was the coach, Sidney Crosby is young and awesome, so my son would be rooting for one of the best players for a long time. One of the three teams on my son's Stiga Hockey Table Hockey game so he is familiar with them. Cons: Far away from here, may be harder to follow. Seems like a "front runner" type of selection given past and recent success. A lot of people dont like Crosby (not sure why, just get that feeling) Nashville Predators: The Admirals tie-in is the big sell. Cons: Who are these guys, a franchise along the vein of Atlanta Thrashers and Phoenix Coyotes that just seem to exist for no reason and with no identity. Is there mascot the predator from the Predator movie? Suggestions?
  21. No offense to X ellence, because the talent seems to add up, but a trade of that proportion with 3 teams in mid season is so far from possibly happening that it doesnt even merit discussion.
  22. At this juncture I am placing the odds of a Fielder trade this year at 1% and a Fielder trade before he hits free agency at about 5%. I just think that with all of the variables taken into consideration, that there isnt much of a return for him. Certainly not enough to quell the backlash from trading him.
