  1. Tim McCarver was hilarious to listen to - but not intentionally. He was acting as if Lopez and Mather were guys that the Cardinals just pulled out of the stands to pitch. His quotes were something like: On Lopez in the stretch: "I can't believe he remembered to pause before throwing home, this is something he might have seen on TV before!" Or, Tim, everyday the past 15 years as he played organized baseball. On Mather covering first base on a ball hit to Pujols: (In a voice of pure disbelief) "and Mather is there to cover first base, I can't believe what I am seeing!" Really Tim? You cant believe a major league baseball player would even think to cover first base on a play like that? There were others too, oh yeah, a classic "Does this game even count??" right around the 18th or 19th inning. Also, Tony LaRussa was coaching that game like he had bet against the Cards to win. Not pinch hitting for his pitcher in the 12th and 14th with runners on third. Some reason taking out Matt Holliday. Sending Ryan Ludwick on the first pitch to Pujols with nobody out - are you serious? Not to mention the intentional passes to load the bases to of all people HENRY BLANCO while the position player on the mound CLEARLY cannot throw a strike.
  2. The one video I saw on Cnn.com looked like it was taken from downtown Milwaukee and the thing looked like something out of a doomsday movie.
  3. So does this mean that I wont be able to watch the Brewers for another week?
  4. I agree with the Ignitor. Fans on this board seem to be experts in umpires and play-by-play announcers. What Bob does is what he has always done and it is what makes him great. I have never listened to a game and not known who was on base, what the count was and what the score was when he was calling it.
  5. Sandoval should probably already be playing first base. What are the Giants going to do with Prince and Pandavol in two years?
  6. The cookies came to represent the service and experience, that is why it is always talked about. Anyway, I flew Midwest just one time - and it was the greatest flight experience I ever had. The reason I only flew it once though was because I dont fly much. Ever since I flew Midwest I swore I would only fly them from now on. Too bad I havent been on an airplane in 4 years.
  7. Why do they have to make that darn gift box so tempting to look at.
  8. I think if you are looking at trading Prince Fielder you need to look at the Texas to Atlanta deal for Teixeira and the Cliff Lee deal from Cleveland to Philly. Those were two deals made without extensions being talked about at all. In fact, if we are "out" of it come the All Star break, I start calling around to the San Francisco's and Boston's. The problem is, that much like his FA value may be depressed with Gonzalez, Howard and Pujols on the FA Market, if Gonzalez is on he trade block teams could play that against us.
  9. Partially my fault, but we should keep to the Weeks topic in this thread probably. THe bottom line is I dont think this team can wait for Lawrie to learn on the job at 2b, so it does make some more sense to move him off 2b if his bat is ready, and if that means he goes to 1b then so be it. However, if he can hack it at 2b then maybe Weeks gets moved off 2b after he is extended. I dont know, I just think moving Weeks back in the order to protect Braun and having Lawrie there as well could make for a decent offense.
  10. I am more in favor of extending Weeks and trading Prince this off season for pitching. Too bad SF has the Big Fat Panda or we could TRY to flip Prince to SF for Bumgarner.
  11. An 89 mph outside the strikezone is the same as an 84 mph ball outside the strike zone. I remember Davis being a slow worker, but I dont remember him being this wild.
  12. I dont see why they wouldnt. They could skimp on CF or SS defensive specialist and blow it all on a DH that plays 162 games a year and hits in the 4 hole between Teixeira and A-Rod.
  13. Id love to send Gomez down at least long enough to delay is FA by another year, or longer if he can learn to stop being such a hacker. The thing about promoting Katin, even to sit and PH, is that like Mass said, he is 27 years old and was never considered a prospect, so you arent really stunting him like you would Gamel if Gamel were up and on the bench.
  14. Yeah but they dont have their DH.
  15. Then there is this: Fielder Looking for Mauer & Teixeira Money? A person familiar with the talks between the Brewers and Prince Fielder suggests that the eight year, $180MM+ contracts signed by Joe Mauer and Mark Teixeira are viewed as just a starting point by the first baseman's people, says SI.com's Jon Heyman. Another suggested that Fielder is seeking to join Alex Rodriguez in the $200MM club.
  16. Enter Chris Narveson...and the hit parade continues!
  17. I dont think people are overreacting. We have a 42 year old closer who throws an 85 mph fastball and he has given up 3 HRs in his last 2 innings pitched to blow 2 saves. That seems a little concerning, at least enough to warrant a thread about what might be the problem.
  18. Listening to Joe Morgan ask "What is a small market" was painful yesterday. It was so pathetic and misinformed that I dont know how ESPN can justify sending him out there every Sunday night. Somehow because the Twins paid Joe Mauer 184 million dollars they are no longer small market. Then Miller compares the Brewers revenue to the Yankees revenue and Morgan says that is part of the problem - that teams like the Brewers are comparing themselves to the Yankees and he almost seemed to imply that it was unfair to the Yankees that teams like the Brewers always bring up the Yankees when talking about Market size. It was just one of the most misinformed baseball conversations I have ever heard...and this was after the top of the first when Morgan seemed to also imply that he would rather have a runner on third with one out that first and second and no out. FJM, where are you when we need you?
  19. I definitely agree with Bob Skube here. Extend him now before he gets TOO good and we cant afford him. He is good and a valuable piece to this team.
  20. Holy smoke, playing out the string? Perhaps no player has laid more on the line without a contract to protect him the next year than CC did in September and October, pretty much pitching complete game after complete game on 3 days rest for weeks on end. The guy earned every penny the Yankees paid him for taking the ball and wanting the ball the way he did. I am a Brewers fan too, which is why I will always be grateful for what he did for the team in 2008.
  21. Diego in with a standup double. I still cant cheer him.
  22. Im without a radio so because of the gosh darn Bucks (ARGH!!) I must watch the game via gameday. Watching that Gomez at bat was tough, not a single pitch in the zone, yet he swung at 3 of them.
