  1. I agree with Braun and Clint Dempsey as well, I remember thinking that during the World Cup. Lucroy also looks a little like late Alice in Chains lead singer, Layne Staley.
  2. Ryan Braun... http://www.viktorviktoriashop.com/theshop/images/Braun3.jpg ...and #$*%% Eye For the Straight Guy's Jai Rodriguez http://images.eonline.com/eol_images/Entire_Site/20071030/293.rodriguez.jai.103007.jpg
  3. Ryan Howard will still have his contract, so I don't see any way this could be true.Howard's contract will be two years shorter by that time though. Prince is likely to get 7 years and more money than Howard got, IMO.
  4. Prediction: when Prince Fielder signs his Free Agent deal it will immediately become the worst contract in baseball.
  5. Id probably do a Garza and Davis for Fielder trade. Garza is a bit better than average and Davis should be also.
  6. I am thinking we should hang onto Fielder and let him walk after 2011. Id rather get the enjoyment of one more year of having him in a Brewers uniform (and two comp picks) than a couple of AAAA pitchers.
  7. Well, Im disappointed to hear that Weeks is on the block. Id really like to retain him long-term.
  8. Three reasons I dont want Sanchez. 1. Age, would be 28 next year, combined with; 2. Control issues, combined with 3. Service time, I believe he will be at 4+ at the end of the year, which leaves him with 2 years left. Id be looking for at least 3 years from a pitcher.
  9. Al, from having read your blog I think you should just go with..."And Tomorrow They'll Be Worse"
  10. Boston has lost Pedroia (broken foot) and now maybe Victor Martinez (thumb) for a while, I wonder if that in combination with the Sox improved pitching and overall competativeness along with Ortiz likely not coming back next year could create something with Boston before the deadline.
  11. So is that a real goal?
  12. This sport keeps shooting itself in the foot. Goals are so hard to come by, and any chance the officials get the wave off a borderline goal.
  13. Well it wouldnt surprise me if the fix was in with the official.
  14. It'd too bad about the last goal being disallowed. I feel bad for the US team and even the referee. That being said, I cant be too upset, I think between Jim Joyce, this guy, Ed Hochuli, and the NBA we can all say that officiating is INCREDIBILY HARD. I have officiated baseball and football and someone is ALWAYS upset.
  15. The Brewers should probably be looking to acquire a guy like Haren this year.
  16. Pretty pathetic effort so far by US.
  17. Thrilled with the Argentine victory today as they were rolling on all cylinders. Ever since my wife's extended visit there during the '98 cup we have pulled for them and they have underachieved the past 3 cups. Outside of USA I always pull for them, even though I know some compare them to the Oakland Raiders.
  18. Two #1 picks going in the wrong direction. The future isnt looking too bright my friends.
  19. I obviously have a problem with the reality TV portion of this, if it is true. I just dont have a problem with someone wanting to sail around the world. If they have the means and resources to do so, why not? She didnt climb a mountain with the possibility of terrible weather bearing down on here, she didnt do anything reckless. She planned stops, she had the requisite safety devices (GPS, satellite phones).
  20. Would people be as worked up if this were a 29 year-old who didnt announce to the world that she was going to sail around the world with various stops at different ports and then ran into a storm that broke her mast? They likely wouldnt. Which tells me the main thing people have a problem with is either her age or the attention she is getting - not the actual sailing or needing some help part.
  21. I just dont see how she was putting her life on the line. This wasnt some crazy stunt. She was just sailing. She could have run into a storm of the coast of Maine for crying out loud. You can say maybe she should not have been sailing and that resources were wasted by rescuers that might have prevented those rescuers from saving a different boat...that also shouldn't have been sailing?
  22. in 2001 I think, Geoff Jenkins 3 HR game in late April. That was pretty sweet.
  23. I dont understand why Nebraska is the key to the Big 12 dissolving. Why not just plug in TCU or Boise State and keep on going? Texas must really want out.
  24. I penciled this 4 16 team super conference thing at work today and this is what I came up with. Notre Dame, NEB, MISS, SYR and PITT to Big 10 Rutgers, UCONN, WVA, South FLA to the ACC Baylor, Louisville, Cincinnati, Kansas to the SEC TEX, A&M, T Tech, Colorado, OU, OSU to the PAC 10 Conference title games act as first round of playoffs, then left with Final Four. How easy is that Jim Delany? Who does that leave out? K State and Iowa State...they go to C-USA perhaps or out west in to Boise's conference. Then what happens to the 7 Big East Basketball schools? Perhaps they raid the A-10 for Temple, St. Joes and UMass. Or Maybe Conference USA and take Memphis and add UNC Charlotte and Rhode Island from the A-10. Anyway you shake it there are options for them to remain a powerful basketball conference.
