  1. Underwhelming numbers on the season obviously, but has gotten hot recently as the thumb injury has healed. Looking forward to seeing what he can do.
  2. I think Steamer's selling him way short. Specifically, with that OBP.
  3. If Freddy doesn't start finding the strike zone, this is going to be over sooner than later.
  4. As long as he's a Brewer, I'll hold out hope Winker can be something like the hitter he was up until last season.
  5. For as ugly as our offense is, Yeli and Contreras 1-2 is mighty fine.
  6. Not striking out more than a quarter of the time and putting up 15%+ BB rates. Also, FWIW, Tyler Black at AA: 155 wRC+. Keston Hiura at AA: 116 wRC+.
  7. I would say all 3 SPs are hittable considering Elder has an ERA of 10 this month and was massively overperforming his underlying stats.
  8. Been hitting the ball a lot better within the past few days. Wonder if the thumb is feeling better. That's a tough injury for a hitter.
  9. The audacity, man...Where's the civility police again??? The poster literally said that it was a little light and the Brewers would probably have to add a better piece than Small. But a top 100/50 prospect, a top 200 prospect/2022 first round pick, and two organizational top 30 prospects is a reasonable start. Padres would probably ask for Gasser back instead of Small, but it's a decent framework.
  10. Frelick starting to heat up and inch his way toward "call-up territory".
  11. Yes, and did you know they all had sky-high trade value when they were top prospects, as Chourio currently is? Also, if you need help: strawman: a fallacious argument that distorts the opposing stance in order to make it easier to attack. That's what you did when you implied that people aren't thinking McMahon could fetch nice prospects in return. He could potentially. Just not prospects the value/caliber of Chourio.
  12. I meant top 5 and accidentally posted top 2 when I initially made the post. He's #4 in fWAR for catchers behind Murphy, Heim, and Smith. And ahead of Rutschman, Raleigh, Realmuto, etc.
  13. Yes I have. He's been fine defensively aside from a few missed scoops. And the stats back me up on that.
  14. Now, you're creating a straw-man. No one ever said that McMahon could be had for pennies. Just that his trade value is way less than Jackson Chourio's and that the Brewers would say "thanks, but no thanks" if the Rockies pressed for that.
  15. Jackson Chourio is a consensus top 5 prospect in baseball. That’s not fan opinion, nor is it overvaluing him. That’s an incontrovertible fact. His trade value is a lot higher than Ryan McMahon’s. Your failure to grasp this is indicative of your stated lack of knowledge about prospects. Here’s a word of advice: stop talking about them. Then, you won’t sound as ridiculous as you are right now in saying that the Rockies would be justified asking for Chourio in exchange for McMahon.
  16. Hunter Renfroe was paid in arbitration this year based on being a 2.7 and 2.4 WAR player the last two seasons. Joc Pederson was tendered a qualifying offer based on his huge offensive season last year (144 wRC+). Their current WAR, which you're listing, has zero to do with how they're currently being paid. I'm surprised you didn't include Stephen Strasburg who's getting paid $35 million annually. Surely, that's the cost of 34 innings and a -0.5 WAR the last four years, right? I get a chuckle out of reading posts from you seemingly every week in which you talk about prospects like you know them, when you've previously stated how you don't follow the minor leagues. There's a reason why everyone here is laughing at your claim that the Rockies would be justified in asking for Chourio in return for McMahon.
  17. The fact that you're throwing Antoine Kelly into the discussion to draw some kind of equivalence to Jackson Chourio is hilarious. Stop talking about minor league players. You yourself have admitted that you don't follow them. Also, nice using post-trade results to make a claim about a player's trade value.
  18. Yes they would. Chourio is a consensus top five prospect with a median surplus value of around 70, per BTV, McMahon has a median surplus value of -2.1, with his hitting #s benefitting from Coors Field and a double digit AAV. Even if you think that sells him short (and I think you could make the case it does). That's still an astronomical difference in trade value.
  19. And with Owen Miller hitting 4th, it is becoming more evident that all resources should be going towards getting at least two above average bats.
  20. If I'm not mistaken, coming into this series, the Phillies had the best record in baseball over the last month.
  21. Nasty. Brewers just took 2/3 from the hottest team in baseball!
  22. Yeah. I think that's one of the antiquated baseball rules that could easily be ditched. I see the argument for it; that the catcher should be able to catch a strike and hold possession. But it also rewards the hitter for striking out and can lead to stuff like swinging at pitches that are way out of the zone to get on-base.
  23. I don't see who else you would throw there. Wilson, maybe, but CC probably wants him in case he has to cover for a short start against the Braves this weekend.
