  1. I've acknowledged that I've been wrong on here on multiple occasions, and really appreciate hearing from others who know more than me. So, I disagree. But you only ever seem to want to get personal with me, so I suggest you just use the ignore feature.
  2. Okay. I've learned my lesson, and am done now. Don't ever discuss Hiura with some people on this site as it seems to massively trigger them.
  3. I really wish we didn't have to discuss Hiura at all. That's why I agree with the Hiura stans who keep banging their drums and hope that he's traded this offseason.
  4. How so? Because I have yet to find a hitter in the history of this game that has maintained a K rate as high as Hiura's over the past couple years and has been able to achieve sustained success.
  5. I'm emphasizing the September numbers only in the sense that we're in the very late stages of a pennant race and Counsell has no choice but to play the "hotter" hand. Hiura has demonstrated no ability to make contact over the last month, so that's why we are where we are. In terms of the larger picture, Hiura has produced a negative WAR since 2020, and though his surface numbers are solid this year, his underlying numbers such as his astronomical 42% K rate raise all kinds of alarm bells. I've always liked his raw hitting "tools", but the hole in his bat has become so large that it's hard for me to see him having sustained success going forward. Hopefully that's "real" enough for you...
  6. Re. Hiura, a lot of you were saying, "Play him while he's hot despite the high K rate." Well, he's now ice-cold, so why the fuss when McCutchen has at least been league average lately.??
  7. Of course, in a significantly smaller sample size and with a 42% K rate...
  8. They also have multiple World Series titles within the last 52 years, so yes, no sympathy at all.
  9. And yours (and Brewers888's) persistent love fest for Hiura, a guy who has statistically sucked since his rookie year, is no less perplexing? McCutchen has actually demonstrated an ability to make contact this month. Hiura has not. .723 OPS in September vs. .402. Seems pretty clear to me.
  10. That's what you need to do. Who knew that catchers were capable of actually contributing on offense.
  11. Generally, in the major leagues, you actually have to produce. We're in the stretch run here and Counsell can't afford to wait for Hiura's bat to heat up.
  12. I've stated this before, but there's a difference between a player whose spot is relatively established and one who has sucked for a couple years now....
  13. Could have been worse. Offense is going to have to produce.
  14. You mean the one who has done nothing but strikeout for basically a month now, which included a two-week stint where he started virtually every game?
  15. Who exactly are the 6 players we're currently playing who are more suited for DH? Yelich, Tellez, McCutchen.......Renfroe? His arm is going to keep him in RF, and he's not that bad there relative to the rest of the league. McCutchen is as good as gone. Hiura isn't even playing and doesn't look like he's in the team's plans for next year anyways.
  16. Peterson has been an elite-type defender this year. Why not just resign him and insert Turang/Urias at 2B instead of trying to make Adames a 3B. Defensive problems solved.
  17. I'd argue we're better off with Turang/Wong/Urias at 2B and keeping Adames at SS, while looking for an upgrade at 3B or even going with Peterson/Brosseau if that fails. We have literally zero evidence that Adames can play an effective 3B, but we know he is an elite SS and that his bat plays very well there. The upside just isn't there to offset the risk imo.
  18. So, Adames has become one of the elite defensive SS in the game and now you want to move him off the position? We finally have an elite SS. Let's just keep it that way.
  19. I wouldn't be terribly disappointed if they picked up Wong's option, particularly if you view his defensive performance this year as an anomaly.
  20. Strzlecki pitching in the 7th tells me CC has lost confidence in Rogers. Good to see.
  21. Yeah. All you have to do is hover over their avatar and there's an icon that says ignore on the bottom.
  22. Wohoo Wong. Let's keep it going the whole weekend.
