  1. Apparently Yadier Molina is all-powerful, getting the on-field umps to call a balk 5 mins after the fact on a non-reviewable play. And, of course, it leads to a run. What garbage from a garbage player/umpiring crew.
  2. I will say that Stearns has been strangely quiet to this point in the season, given his previous history of in-season acquisitions. Perhaps the proverbial "quiet before the storm"???
  3. The unfortunate thing is that this is far from the first time he's made this accusation. It's become part of his regular routine, whether on here or on the in-game thread (during/after losses, of course). Pretty bizarre considering the complete lack of evidence for it and the fact that Stearns is the most brilliant GM in our history and has gifted us four straight postseason appearances.
  4. Such a long season. While our losing streak was obviously less than ideal, the people who were already declaring the season over were not speaking from reality. We're basically in the same position we were in last year, when we won 95 games despite a late-season tailspin.
  5. That he's already going to start throwing breaking balls is very encouraging imo...
  6. Would be nice if the Cardinals would get Dodgers Pittsburgh instead of Brewers/Braves Pittsburgh this week....
  7. I actually feel weirdly confident about the Mets series...
  8. It's over! Was starting to think we'd never see this day....
  9. McCutchen has been way better lately. Mentioned this in the offensive thread, but unlike Cain, his Statcast numbers have remained stable from the last few years.
  10. There's where it could've fallen apart again. Still a long way to go.
  11. Good job making this somewhat interesting at the end. But we're past moral victories. We need to win a game, bottom line. and then win many more games after that.
  12. I really don't care what you think at this point. Though, I'm not sure it's much different from accusing someone of being someone they're not. Anyways, you said too bad we don't have anyone to fetch what the Cubs got last deadline, when, in fact, we have someone who is more valuable than all of those guys were. And if Woodruff were to become healthy and made available, I would say we would definitely have a shot at equaling their haul.
  13. Hader's the most valuable reliever in modern baseball history. A team like the Yankees or Dodgers would likely pay a premium at this point. And I think the main reason they've refused to pull the trigger is because we've been contending and dealing him would have severely hindered our chances with how reliant on a dominant back end of the bullpen we have been. I don't think it's accurate to say that Stearns was "actively shopping" him. He was just keeping all of his options open given the constraints of our market size, as he should. Something like what the Yankees got for Chapman should be an expectation, given that Hader has a whole extra year of control remaining. Just look at last year, when the Cubs got Madrigal for Kimbrel...
  14. I'll take it. This team needs good vibes right now.
