  1. If I was convinced that Miso was a relief pitcher I would.
  2. Instead of seven seasons they have him for ten, the final three being his prime. Nothing ehhhh about that, in my opinion.
  3. TBH I don't think today's coach or GM would have the patience either.
  4. I really can't imagine being against this in any way, especially if the early reports on years and salary are accurate.
  5. The discussion gets dumber when you consider that the Brewers know that Counsell is actually good at his job. If there was some doubt about that I think you could better make an argument for moving on, but it's universally accepted that he's great. Like I said, if all CC wants to do is reset the managerial payscale, just do it and move on.
  6. Like who? Who was worth the extra $3 million that only the Brewers would have gotten had they ponied the money up?
  7. The Brewers can't compete with big markets when it comes to paying players. If a guy wants $300 million or $30 million a year, it's not going to happen. It could be half those amounts and the Brewers are going to be outbid. The only level playing ground the Brewers can operate on is management and organizational hires, and that's probably not going to be the case much longer either. Milwaukee just happens to have a really, really good home grown guy who may be willing to spend his career in the town, and all it will take is paying the going rate. This shouldn't be any kind of hard decision.
  8. Imagine if the Rangers had let him go over a couple million.
  9. How about doing both? Pay the manager, and pay the players. The Brewers aren't going to lose a player over an extra $3 million a year unless they're not actually interested in getting said player.
  10. Why? Who cares if it's $7 million or $10? It's not our money. There's no managerial salary cap to consider. If the place where the Brewers can gain or keep a competitive advantage is with (relatively cheap) management, then just do it. If Counsell is actually giving the Brewers the option of keeping him, pay the guy and say thank you.
  11. It's incredibly silly if CC is let go over any amount of money. $3 million is an accounting error for MA. It's an average middle reliever. If the report is true, that CC is back if the Brewers make him highest paid, it's the easiest decision Antanasio has had to make yet.
  12. All I care about is who he's bringing with from baseball ops, and whether or not the Brewers have a good enough infrastructure to handle the blows.
  13. Baseball America's #2 ranked system.
  14. In my day a sweeper was just a slurve.
  15. My first thought was my god I hope I never have to watch a Winker at bat ever again. But nah he's batting cleanup.
  16. Because if it's year five and he hasn't figured it out, then he's obviously not worth paying.
  17. Honestly, is anyone really worried about needing to spend to pay Wiemer? He's not Fielder or Braun. Wiemer's service time is a complete non-story.
  18. Wiemer is closer to being a guy you DFA than being one you worry about paying five years from now.
  19. We had this debate three months ago and he's got a wRC+ of 84 now. I love his defense but he's not MLB level at the plate.
  20. Because he's not that kind of player. If he's good the Brewers will extend him long before service time becomes an issue. But he's closer to being out of the league than he is ever reaching three years of arbitration.
  21. Wiemer isn't a guy you worry about manipulating service time with.
  22. Perkins has been one of the best defensive OFs in baseball this season. You can't send him down.
