  1. I don't really get these moves. I was alright with the Hader trade as I thought it'd lead to another trade, but presumably a bat. Josh Bell for instance. Maybe that's not fair, but I really hate trading away Kelly for Matt Bush. I know he's been outstanding this year, but 36, his...history and I thought highly of Kelly. Welp, hope the Brewers pitching lab can get the most out of Lamet, help Rogers get back on track and keep Bush on track. That's a deeper BP. I just didn't expect quite so much of the deadline to center around the Bullpen.
  2. Ok...but if he's not good in LF, what do you think he's going to look like in CF? I'm looking at improving on balance. Not just offensively, but overall. How many balls just in the last 2 weeks would have dropped with Yelich in CF vs Taylor(who I don't think is a particularly good CFer, but at least passable). Scoring matters...and obviously STOPPING the other team from scoring matters. I still remember the Brewers opting for offense and FOUR runs(all 4 runs) the Cards scored were the direct result of terrible CF defense.

  4. I was on board until the Yelich in CF part. I'd rather bring Kotsay back and stick him in CF. I'd be all for Ian Happ if the Cubs didn't tax the Brewers for the right.

  6. Ok...well...just when I thought it made the LEAST possible sense and he's traded...and no CJ Abrams!
  7. We keep saying that and yet...he's back year after year. You think it's a given we trade him away heading into next year? I'm not so sure. But he will be an outstanding closer for at least 2 of the next 3 years.
  8. Yeah...I am a bit surprised at just how dominant he's been. I was aware he'd been dominant, but it seemed like the last 10 days he had a few close calls. I guess it was just a couple walks vs the Jays and then a couple hits another time out. I was ALSO a bit surprised just how critical many "Brewers fans" are of Hader right now...though I don't know why. 5 year run as the best weapon our of the Bullpen and he struggles 2 outings(1/3 9ERs) and...he can't be trusted. Uribe is gonna have to develop Maddux type command, Kershaw's curve and Johnson's slider in order for Brewers fans to be assuaged after we lose the Hader/Williams duo. It's a golden era right now. Rodgers, Giannis and Brewers pitching. Am I greedy for wanting that ~1.100 OPS Yelich and Hiura's .920 OPS in the mix as well?
  9. That floor seems awfully similar to Brandon Crawford though with a bit less power. But I'm probably just more bullish on Turang. I've been a big fan since I saw him in Appleton and I see some Trea Turner in him. I think with his speed, his plate discipline, even if his SLG doesn't go over .400, I have a hard time seeing him hitting .240. Consistent contact, LDs, the balls he'll beat out with his plus speed... He's the type of guy that if he was in AA and just crushing the pitching down there hitting .300/.400/.400 with his plus defense, even without nice power, people would be MUCH more excited about him...IMO. I think his prospect status is a big the result of his own success. Moving quickly through the minors and being very consistent, but not flashy. Weimer and Mitchell for example, both a year older, both a level lower. We'll see, but 22 years old, ~290/.360/.400 at AAA, 60 speed, 60 defense, 55 hit tool and arm. As for Soto...yeah, that could be franchise altering, but...I love the way the Brewers are building a consistent contender right now and building their farm system(which I have no doubt would be ranked in the top 10 if it belonged a team in NY or LA). It'd be fun to picture him in this lineup, playing RF. It'd be miserable seeing what I'd guess would be 5 of our top 7-8 prospects heading to Washington and possibly more than that.

  11. How about if he's a guy I'd like to see 2-3 At bats vs a Right handed starter in a playoff game and then possibly pinch hit for when the starter comes out? Then can I think it's a big deal he got demoted? Or maybe I just want to see what he can do. He WAS after all our prized top prospect who raked when he came up, struggled, then when he started to show signs of turning a corner...and yes, I understand, not all the peripherals were looking great, but the raw results were and I'd like to ride those as long as possible to see if they turn into something a bit more. I think it's pretty remarkable what he's done this year vs right handed pitchers when he hasn't been given consistent opportunities to stay in the lineup. I was of the belief that we were hoping for some iteration of 2019 Hiura and Yelich to come back. That this could solve a whole lot of our offensive issues. Yelich is of course going to get every opportunity and it would appear he's become more Shin Shoo-Choo than MVP at this point(not that anyone expected a .670 SLG again, but....500? Meanwhile we've got a guy posting a .303/.418/.652 line vs righties and he's in AAA? Because he's been lucky? Sure, that'll level out. The 93+ exit velocity is likely to keep it high. His use of right field should also help him maintain a higher BABIP(obviously not .512, but...high enough vs RHers). I'm not sure the Brewers have the luxury of sending guys down who are barreling up baseball's and doing damage at the plate because we're projecting that they won't be able to maintain it.
  12. .290/.370/.430 while playing SS with plus speed and defense...seems like that's be incredibly valuable. *****, it'd fit like a dream right now in this lineup. Throw him in at CF, 2B, a SS in a few years if Willy isn't extended. The exact type of player we've been missing. Someone who can hit for a solid average and get on base while providing a lot of defensive value(he's played CF). In fact, it sounds like Benintendi, but not limited to LF(or a CF if a team is forced to give up Defense for offense). I've also been a big Turang fan for several years...since they drafted him. I love the hit tool, the plate discipline, speed and the defense. You could do a lot worse for a top of the order hitter. I'd be completely out on Bell if it included Turang.

  14. C'mon...his FLOOR...meaning the worst possible outcome is that he becomes the best reliever in baseball to start his career who has been named the NL Reliever of the Year award for 3 of the last 4 years...with the ONE year he didn't win it, it went to his SU man and he allowed 8ERs in a shortened season....with 6 of those coming in two starts spanning 1.1 IP? That wasn't the floor for Steven Strausburg...so while I very much like this pick, that's most definitely NOT the "floor" for this 20-year-old Juco kid. What do you suppose his ceiling is if Josh Hader...probably the best reliever in Brewer(just while pitching for the Brewers) is the floor? It's gotta be Jacob deGrom? Bob Gibson but 5 inches taller? A guy like that would...seemingly be a lock to be the #1 overall pick and go over-slot. If you were getting at WORST Josh Hader.
  15. Who has compared him to the manager? I've seen one VERY general and seemingly half serious comment about "how if there's one manager who likes funky set up's, it's Craig Counsell." Beyond that, how/when has he been comped to Craig Counsell?
