I think this is very clear when it comes to pitchers. The Red Sox are an objectively good pitching development org with one of the best rotations in baseball this year. I think in some ways you could argue they are better at developing pitchers than the Brewers but they are a very one size fits all org and guys like Harrison and Priester didn't mesh well with them. They come to Milwaukee and they have both talked about the Brewers just letting them be themselves and they really took off.

You can see the pretty clear chasm when it comes to our hitting and pitching prospect talent according to fangraphs rankings. We have 10 45 FV or better position prospects compared to only 4 on the pitching side. Overall we have the second best farm well behind Tampa Bay who are number one. We are in a second tier I'd say with LAD and MIN. https://www.fangraphs.com/prospects/farm-system-rankings

The ACL season is officially over with a 9-4 loss today. Their season unfortunately ended with a whimper. They were 23-20 heading into June 30th and then proceeded to end the year going 3-14. Probably not a coincidence that Frias was promoted to Wilson on 6/23 and Martinez on 7/3.

The average joe knew a lot of their recent moves were laughably bad the second it was announced. Mason Miller trade, Yu Darvish extension, Machado extension, Bogaerts contract, heck I'll even take it a step further that the Juan Soto trade was bad though I don't think the average joe would have thought that. It's honestly funny looking back at how much better they would be right now if Preller had just done nothing but draft and develop the last few years.

Just need to clarify he also said ceiling is 20 HR lower than Caminero. He said Caminero is a 50 HR ceiling guy and Matos is a 30 HR ceiling guy. Basically just said he think their swings/frames are similar. Matos is nowhere near as toolsed up as Caminero was coming out of the DSL.

Fangraphs for whatever reason (I don't understand it) has the Brewers with the toughest remaining strength of schedule by opponent projected win % (.508) which is probably why they are projecting 31-29 the rest of the way.

Hardin is definitely not a sinker baller. He does throw three fastball types but the sinker is the worst of his three fastballs. He's best known for his flat approach angle FB. I'd comp him to more like a poor man's Bryan Woo or Joe Ryan.

The underlying numbers definitely favor someone like Drohan over guys like Lauer and Myers. 2021 Lauer - 94 FIP-, 100 xFIP-, 4.24 SIERA 2024 Myers - 96 FIP-, 98 xFIP-, 3.99 SIERA 2026 Drohan - 72 FIP-, 87 xFIP-, 3.66 SIERA (specifically as a SP - 84 FIP-, 94 xFIP-,

I don't know about record but Brewers ERA with Gary catching is right there next to their ERA with Contreras catching

Yeah Chourio appears to still not know how to jump at the wall getting stuffed by it again today.

Adams, Williams, Wagoner, and Manfredi feel like the priority adds right now and if I had to guess, I'd guess that one or two of them gets moved at the deadline this year.

No chance to grab that one today. There's a pretty sizable gap like (8ft) between the fence and the wall behind the fence and that one hit the wall behind the fence.

Mets were owed one after Collins cheapie walkoff HR into it last year

1, Adrian Morejon - Would love to push Ashby down the leverage list and Morejon is a stud 2. Clay Holmes - Vet groundballer who I think can eat innings for us and has a long history as a RP so will be comfortable being shifted to the pen in the playoffs. I think he's very likely to decline his player option so you don't need to worry about next year 3. Lane Thomas - RHH who hits LHP really well. Would like another bat who can hit LHP.

Dinges getting promoted to AA per Mayo

Yes but that wasn’t even close to catchable

That’s now 14 of 19 games this month the Brewers have given up the first run. That’s not ideal.

Also with Payne he’s obviously very athletic and twitchy but I’ve always thought he’s looked very tightly wound and a bit stiff. I wonder if scouts see something like that as well and view it as a negative.

Norris had side video of Lovera and Matos hitting HR on his Twitter account and I liked Lovera’s swing better than Matos

Looks like Hartshorn makes way better swing decisions than Payne as well. The fact Payne has any Top 100 hype with how bad his hit tool is impressive in its own right. His speed and raw power are impressing enough for people to overlook what is currently a very poor hit tool.

Hartshorn has way less swing and miss than Payne.

Safe to say this is not remotely how I saw that play. Turang nearly got to that ball despite basically stopping. If he doesn’t slow down that’s a routine play for him.

Brewers are 20-12 since June 16th but they really need the big guys at the top of the order to start picking up the slack. 1-4 in the order during that stretch have an 86 wRC+ which is 28th in MLB 5-9 in the order during that stretch have a 120 wRC+ which is 3rd in MLB Turang is the only guy among the top of the order guys with a wRC+ over 100 in that time at 109. Contreras is at 90. Chourio is at 83. Yelich is at 73. These are the players that are supposed to be carrying our lineup and they've been getting carried by the bottom half of our order for over a month.

Also not sure it means anything but Sproat has been way better with Sanchez catching him than Contreras.

It's possible though with Freddy his extension has been trending down for years. His extension was best before he kind of really filled out. Like his extension peaked at 7.3ft in 2020 and has trended down basically every year since then to now 6.5ft.
