  1. 1. Contreras has above average pop time to 2B. A lot of the SB against him he hasn't even had a chance on and his framing still grades as one of the best in the MLB. He's 7th among MLB catchers in Fielding Run Value, 2nd in DRS, 2nd in Framing, and 2nd in Fangraphs catcher defense. 2. He currently has a 119 wRC+ and is 4th in the MLB in catcher fWAR despite being 9th in catcher PA. 3. Factoring in all these things, he's easily been a top 5 catcher in the MLB this season.
  2. Wiemer is a better defensive CF than Bellinger at this point.
  3. Well deserved promotion for Nate Peterson.
  4. I would definitely trade for Bellinger, but I'm not giving up any of my top 10-15 prospects for 2 months of a dude overperforming that significantly. Freddy Zamora, Ethan Small, and a DSL lottery ticket is about what I would give up for him.
  5. Bellinger's actual slash line is .308/.365/.523 for an .888 OPS Bellinger's expected slash line is .252/.316/.400 for a .716 OPS That overperformance is the 3rd biggest overperformance among the 269 hitters qualified for the Savant Leaderboards. He's due for major regression.
  6. Figured I would post here. Gasser just made Baseball America’s top 100 with Elly De La Cruz graduating.
  7. Brewers have $4,528,130 left counting the 5% overage. Think you must not have seen Boeve signed for $1.2M because that's pretty much the number your rough math is off.
  8. I very much doubt picks 7-10 are getting $100K each.
  9. The Southern League (AA League that Biloxi was in) was experimenting with pre-tacked baseballs in the 1st half of the season. Basically normal baseballs that are dipped into sticky stuff to provide better grip. This made a lot of Southern League pitchers dramatically improve their pitch movement and spin making the already difficult jump to AA even harder for hitters. As of last Friday, they switched to the same baseballs the MLB is using that are just mudded not dipped in sticky stuff.
  10. Jadher Areinamo just hit a HR. Mudcats up 6-1 in the 1st inning.
  11. Wiemer was called after Urias got hurt in game 1 not when Mitchell got hurt. Wiemer was called up to play RF with Anderson shifting back to 3B where Urias played in game 1. Frelick got hurt the same night Mitchell did so was not able to be called up then.
  12. I’ve talked myself into trying to get Ryan McMahon. Probably have to platoon him but he hits RHP really well and plays GG level defense at 3B with 4 more years of control on a fair contract. He fits the run prevention model while also being a 110 wRC+ type bat vs RHP.

  14. Suter has been on the IL for a month and just went out on a rehab assignment. Absolutely zero need to trade for him with Justin Wilson set to return soon and Ashby going out on a rehab assignment in the near future.
  15. Jake Cousins velo is down a ton...wow. His FB is sitting 92.4 today which is so far below his average last year and the year before. He really hasn't been the same since that elbow injury last season.
  16. I didn't even realize we are only 2.5 games back of the 2nd seed and bye. Would be absolutely huge if we could end up with the 2nd best record in the NL this year.
  17. Woodruff starting his rehab assignment on Saturday.
  18. If he's available absolutely, but I am guessing the Cardinals are far more likely to move TON than Carlson. Edit: Also I am generally just opposed to the idea of trading with the Cardinals. They are on the record to want pitching and we really don't have a super deep prospect pool of pitching to trade from. We are definitely deeper on the position player side.
  19. Yeah I think Boeve, Woodward, and 7-10 (sorry for not listing names) will sign for between $1.15M and $1.5M which with the 5% overage would leave us with $4.875M to $4.525M to work with for Pratt, Bitonti, and 11-20. Hopefully we get Boeve, Woodward and 7-10 towards that lower end and can get Pratt and Bitonti for around $2M each. That would leave us $875K to play with for rounds 11-20.
  20. Is he actually 5'8 like it says on Fangraphs? Maybe a move to the OF? He seems to be pretty athletic judging by his decent SB numbers.
  21. Luke Adams to A+ at 3B. Shift Metzinger to 1B at A+. Ernesto Martinez to AA at 1B. Shift Warren to 3B. Black to AAA at 3B. Shift Dorrian/Toro to 1B.
  22. I've wanted the Brewers to do this for a while, but I just don't see it. Have Brewers ever promoted a position player straight from AA to the MLB midseason? Some teams have been doing it (Braves as an example) but it really doesn't seem like our MO.
