  1. Definitely has not been a very productive looking rehab assignment. The lack of swing and miss and solid contact at the MLB and in this rehab assignment has me feeling a bit doubtful that he's going to stick around on the Brewers long term which is a bummer because I thought his stuff looked very good.
  2. Honestly even Wilson should get some chances as a leverage guy. Especially if he can touch that 95 range with his FB.
  3. Agreed that how he currently is pitching makes the most sense in a 7th inning type role not an 8th. Need to hope one of Cousins/Uribe/Andrews can be an 8th inning type guy for us at some point this season. I think they all have the stuff to do it, but it's not a guarantee that any of them are ready for it this year. I expect Uribe to be in AAA eventually. Largely because AA is using a different ball than AAA and MLB (which are using the same ball). The AA ball is the same ball but they dip it into a tacky substance so it's performing way differently than the regular ball so far. A huge reason why strikeouts are way up in AA right now.
  4. The velo is definitely starting to concern me a bit. Hopefully he's just a guy whose velo improves as the weather gets warmer. Last night he had 1st and 3rd and 1 out and couldn't generate a single whiff. It's definitely somewhat concerning especially if he's going to be in the 8th inning role going forward. Still think he can be a good leverage RP in his current mold but not one that I will trust if he gets into a tough spot.
  5. Probably correct. Winker is probably going to get a much longer leash than Voit but honestly at the moment I would rather have Voit and Rowdy fill our 1B and DH spots against RHP than Rowdy and Winker. I'm beginning to get mildly worried that Winker is just washed. He wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire before he got sick .334 xwOBA in 31 PA but it's still been way worse since he returned .230 xwOBA in 31 PA. Plus Winker's batted ball data is pretty horrific. Voit's overall numbers are worse but he's looked good vs RHP this year and the underlying numbers back that up.
  6. Voit is basically Keston Hiura at this point. Since the start of last season, he's become a huge reverse split guy. He just doesn't fit the role we are trying to put him in (also why Hiura shouldn't be called up as long as Winker is on the roster). Since 2022 Voit's xwOBA vs RHP in .348 in 420 PA (really good number) and his xwOBA vs LHP is .246 in 189 PA (really bad). We are basically using Voit as a weak side platoon guy right now which is a horrible misuse.
  7. Guerra traded back to the Rays for a PTBNL or cash.
  8. Voit has a 56 wRC+ compared to Winker's 72 wRC+. His peripheral numbers are also worse than Winker's as well. Also his 0.07 BB/K ratio is 12th worst in the MLB out of 332 hitters with at least 40 PA.
  9. I don’t know what the Brewers are supposed to do with Luke Voit. He basically seems like a poor man’s Keston Hiura seeing far too many of his AB vs LHP. Really just feel like they need to dump him and find someone somewhere that can respectably hit LHP. Voit since the start of last season has a 53 wRC+ in 191 PA vs LHP with a 38% K-rate. With Winker and Rowdy on the team he’s going to be seeing a good chunk if not most of his PA vs LHP. It’s really just a bad roster fit. He’s also whiffing on 40% of his swings this season which is the same rate Keston whiffed last year.
  10. Would be awesome to get a Cy Burnes performance tomorrow so we can head into Sunday with the series already won with Rea on the mound.
  11. I am with jyou that the vibes just feel very off for that team right now. Super low energy. They really need a big breakout game with the bats to get going.
  12. That's a bummer to hear. Forearm issues can foreshadow elbow issues down the road. Thank you so much for all of your posts!
  13. His changeup was his most used pitch tonight. 24 swings, 12 whiffs. 50% whiff rate against his changeup. I don't know why/how our hitters are so bad against LHP but it needs to be fixed.
  14. Don't love seeing Low put on the injured list. Really hope it isn't a pitching injury. I thought he was scheduled to start yesterday which has me scared it is a pitching injury.
  15. Probably the safe call especially considering the Angels have a team wRC+ of 130 against LHP.
  16. If he is going to DH Contreras in this series it will likely be tomorrow with Burnes on the mound because Burnes has seemed more comfortable with Caratini as his battery mate.
  17. Yeah I tweeted them about spelling Garcia wrong today.
  18. Well you can only go up from there!
  19. So Clayton Andrews pitched tonight. He also pitched last night. He's the first Sounds pitcher to pitch on back to back days this season. Maybe there is nothing there, but I feel like minor leaguers rarely pitch back to back days. Could be the Brewers trying to get him comfortable with a more MLB type bullpen schedule. I probably am just reading way too much into it though.
  20. Just lacks experience over there as well. He should have just held onto the ball on that play. The throw wasn't going to beat the runner.
  21. Incredibly silly that this stuff is being tested in affiliated ball especially in AA.
  22. I feel like he hasn't looked as sharp the last two outings but he continues to get whiffs and strikeouts. Just a very good pitcher.
  23. I very much disagree that DW's fastball isn't good. It also isn't straight as an arrow. His 4-seam FB this year is 1.2 inches better than league average in vertical movement and 2.9 inches better than average in horizontal movement (9.8 inches of break). Combine that with his 100th percentile extension and that FB is a good pitch.
