    Dollar/WAR is the average of all the big league free agent money divided by projected WAR. Trout has been vastly underpaid his entire career, and he was willing to take team friendly deals to stay in LA his entire career.

    It wasn't a bad deal. Ruiz is pacing a 3.5-4.0 WAR season for the A's in his first season. If he hits that consistently, that's an absolute win for 1.5 seasons of Hader not even talking about Gasser and Rogers.

    The Brewers had a 103 wRC+ 10th in R/G and 6th in RA/G through our first 50 games before pitching injuries took their toll. They're currently 100 wRC+ 12th R/G and 4th in RA/G. Hard to say most improved.

    There's talk of trading the OF prospects in the futuree because of a logjam. Winker is a FA in the offseason.

    There was an average of 2,676 PA for OF and DH per team last year. You can get 500+ PA for 5 guys across those 4 postions. The perceived log jam doesn't exist.

    Nobody is going to give up the Taylor Rodgers equivalent SP in a trade, so comparisons to the Hader trade fall apart. Are the Padres going to send Snell, Merrill, Lesko, and another piece or 2 for Burnes at the deadline assuming Snell is healthy and productive?

    That's big part of it as well, but the perception is a team trying to win 2-1 and struggling to overcome when the "slugfest" wins are more common even in the depressed run environment.

    The issue is people remember the low scoring games the Brewers lost than the other games. The issue without question was the pitching. We allowed 4+ runs 90 (12th most in baseball) times and only held opponents to <3 runs 51 times. (T-14th with 4 other teams)

    Our lack of significant holes is why we had a better lineup than the MVP Yelich lineups and on par with the peak Braun and Fielder lineups.

    The Rockies problem has been their offense more than their pitching. They've never had a 100+ wRC+ (closest was 97 in both 2007 and 2017) offense in their entire history. They have 10 seasons of 100 ERA- or better, and another 7 seasons 102 ERA- or better.

    You're the one who brought up being bold in the OP. The Brewers aren't spending $280 M on a single player, so you're better off supporting a different team if that's the only bold move you can think of. They can probably get both Adames and Woodruff extended for less money than Correa signed for. Nelson Cruz is 42, and he was bad last year. I don't know if counting on a 42 year old DH only player is a good idea. You're banking on Brandon Drury finally figuring things out at age 30 when he's been bad his entire career. I would not have given him the deal the Angels did. Candelario would have been an interesting bounceback candidate, but he was worse than Anderson last year without the clear injury to point to like Anderson. Candelario is also a worse defender, so you're getting the defense if he isn't hitting.

    They had their 4th highest payroll in franchise history last year. Spending $6 M on a guy who's struggled with shoulder issues the last 2 seasons is tough to do with other raises.

    He was nontendered because he was set to make like $5-6 M in his final arb season. The financial comittment is going to be low.
