Biloxi Press Release: BROCK WILKEN NAMED BREWERS MAY MINOR LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE MONTH Brewers No. 18 prospect tied for Double-A lead with nine home runs across 27 games in May BILOXI, MS – The Milwaukee Brewers announced today that Biloxi Shuckers third baseman Brock Wilken has been named the May Brewers Minor League Player of the Month. Wilken is the first member of the 2025 Shuckers to win a weekly or monthly award. Wilken led the Southern League and was tied for the Double-A lead with nine home runs across 27 games in May. Wilken combined for a .237/.368/.570 slash line during the month with 20 RBI and 20 walks. Wilken finished May among the Southern League leaders in slugging percentage (1st, .570), RBI (1st, 20), extra-base hits (1st, 13), walks (T-1st, 20) and OPS (3rd, .938). Ranked as Milwaukee’s No. 18 prospect per MLB Pipeline, Wilken became the first player in Shuckers franchise history (since 2015) to tally 10 home runs in his first 35 games on May 14. He was a part of a Shuckers offense that scored 128 runs and boasted a .730 OPS in May, both top marks in the Southern League.

As it pertains to this feature story, the Anthony Seigler interview is a must-listen (dude is awesome and comes across as so genuine on the mike as well as the plate), and Rick Sweet's comments when the conversation moves to the topic of Seigler are fantastic.

Via the Sounds' game summary: "Since the start of the 2023 season, Wes Clarke has 53 home runs to lead the Brewers farm system and has 19 more than the next closest player in the organization." Would many have guessed Clarke? Sure. But a 19-HR gap? Wow.

Sunday 6/1: Latest Milwaukee Tailgate Podcast - "On this week's show the guys talked about the great week that was for the Brewers, for Christian Yelich, for Rhys Hoskins and for just about everyone outside of Tyler Alexander. We then looked forward at the changes coming for the rotation, the all-star game and some extension talks." Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast: "The Brewers came into the week having not swept any series this year, and now they've swept them back-to-back. Including two walk-off wins, an eight-run inning, and a series of strong individual hitting performances. Milwaukee took down Boston at home and then cleaned up against the best team in the National League, Philadelphia. Brewers reporter Todd Rosiak and host JR Radcliffe discuss how real it is, the somewhat concerning injury to Christian Yelich, the decision to cut ties with Tyler Alexander, the back-to-back rough starts from Freddy Peralta, the excellence of Rhys Hoskins and the ascendance of Caleb Durbin. In Three Up Three Down (25:00), they discuss big Sal Frelick moments, Chad Patrick and Quinn Priester and the walk-off grand slam by Yelich. Remembrew When looks back at another memorable walk-off granny (40:10) against Boston and Todd's Take of the Week looks at the big homestand ahead (46:15). Then, JR sits down with Brewers reliever Abner Uribe (49:30), discussing his origins with the Brewers, his celebrations and more. That's followed by a conversation with USA TODAY sports columnist Bob Nightengale (55:15) to discuss the viability of Brewers owner Mark Attansio as a candidate for baseball commissioner, looming labor strife in the league and how the Brewers are regarded nationally." *** Postgame Shows after the 5-2 sweep-clinching win in Philadelphia: WTMJ with Dom Cotroneo - Craig Coshun is Dom's guest 97.3 The Game with Tim Allen and crew Locked on Postcast with Brandon Sneide Locked on Brewers with Chuck Freimund - "Is This the "Real" Brewers??" -

Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: Nashville Sounds placed RHP Carlos Rodriguez on the 7-day injured list retroactive to May 30, 2025. Awaiting word on Carlos' status and thinking back to his yeoman effort in the recent MLB "rain-delay" win, and the potential impact on him currently. Final: Indianapolis (Pirates) 8, Nashville 4 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Rosario, Alfaro Homer in Sounds 8-4 Loss to Indians - Sounds Drop First Series Since Early April Here's the Jacob Misiorowski game log for 2025. Among the ugly that was Saturday night's mound effort, was Misiorowski's first HBP of the year. In 2023 and 2024, there had been 31 plunkings. Wild pitches in 2025? That would be two, vs. 28 in those prior two seasons. Let's take a deep breath... In an awkward way, this poor outing takes a ton of pressure off the Brewers front office. Never mind the on-the-cusp of Super Two arbitration date balancing act, this also temporarily alleviates the 40-man roster crunch decisions, and what to do with the overall excess (a welcome excess, to be sure) of the burgeoning big-league rotation depth. Get them next time, Jacob. Oh, and the bullpen arms needed work as well, so there's that. You'll be able to see the Eddie Rosario and Jorge Alfaro home runs at the Sounds' "X" feed, but thankfully you won't see any of the 18 strikeouts via Nashville at-bats, shared among all nine in the lineup. The Sounds did go 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts. Anthony Seigler, playing second base, K'd twice but reached base in his other three plate appearances. The Brewers will have a 40-man roster decision to make on the soon-to-be-26-year-old catcher-infielder come October. Things would be much tidier if the organization simply offers a sweeter-than-normal salary to return on another minor league pact for 2026. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Rocket City (Angels) 2, Biloxi 1 Box Score and Game Log Hunt, Bullpen Star in 2-1 Shuckers Loss to Trash Pandas - Staff holds Trash Pandas to two runs or less for third time in last four games First a thank you for the work done preparing the daily media notes (we are hopeful that Nashville will once again join the other affiliates in making online versions available soon). We don't expect everyone to pore over each linked version daily, but you will always learn something when you do. Lost in the early portion of this game was Bladimir Restituyo getting robbed of at least one RBI, and likely two, on this fantastic catch by the Trash Panda's Caleb Ketchup. If those aren't the two best names typed into a single sentence anywhere in the baseball webisphere this morning, I'd be shocked. As long as we're looking at starting pitcher 2025 game logs today, yes, we're starting to see more and more of what made KC Hunt the Brewers Organizational Co-Pitcher of 2024 (along with Craig Yoho). Here's the Hunt log. Now, it's unfair to Hunt to do so, but we're linking to the Rocket City "X" feed so you can see both of the solo home runs that were surrendered (note - it was Harry Potter Day there, I missed all the references as a non-fan). Hat tip to the batter on the first blast, but Hunt surely wishes he had that second pitch back. I've got one word of warning to KC, along with Brandon Woodruff, Tyson Hardin, and all the Brewer connections to Mississippi State: Northeastern University is coming for you in today's College World Series elimination game rematch. Have to let my Massachusetts roots shine once in a while - never the Red Sox, obviously. Voice of the Shuckers Javik Blake (also a Bay State non-Bosox fan native) hears me. Between the broken bat and the infield positioning, this may be the least imposing RBI knock of the minor league season. Yet it was all the Shuckers could muster: Regarding two other prominent Biloxi position players, these observations are from my fellow Link Reporter @Ro Mueller: Tough stretch for Cooper Pratt: 2 for his last 30 (both singles), 2 BB, 2 HBP, 8 Ks, 1 RBI, 0 SB, 1 CS. Pratt hit 3 ground balls and K’d in an 0-for-4 day. Similar for Brock Wilken: 2 for last 31, including an 0-for-4 day with 3 Ks in this one. Biloxi and Rocket City have combined for 19 (!) runs through the first five games of this series. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) NOTE: Chris Mehring is up early today (or stayed up late last night), and these are actually the notes for Sunday's contest. Final: Wisconsin 4, Peoria (Cardinals) 3, 11 innings Box Score and Game Log Rattlers Score Two in Eleventh Inning for Walkoff Win - Wisconsin rallies past Peoria for extra-inning victory What a fun one on Star Wars Day! (I'm better with those references, but not by much). Read Chris' recap link above, then start your clicking below: Continuing the theme of Mike Boeve's RBI single above, the four Wisconsin runs came across on less-than-beefy circumstances, although Tayden Hall's opposite field game-winner was hardly shallow. Blake Burke with two more hits, plus a walk. All due respect to Ernesto Martinez in Nashville (five years older and dinged up), but it's not easy getting used to having a true first-base only high-end prospect in the system performing well as Burke is. It's been a while. Cheering for infielder Daniel Guilarte (modest similarity to the last name of yours truly), but he's just an 0-for-23 away from having his average drop below .100. What MLB name should we apply to that line? Was going to go with Ben Sheets and his .076 BA over 449 AB's but need a viable position player alternative. Canceled: Salem (Red Sox) at Carolina, wet grounds I was about to offer condolences to the Mudcats front office on the loss of revenue from an eliminated Saturday contest. Then I remembered that's Carolina owner Mark Attanasio's money! Hopefully that won't be a problem the next time the Brewers want to make a Rob Z type acquisition: The teams wrap up their series on Sunday. No June swoons allowed, you got that? Enjoy a four-pack of afternoon action, with the latest start time for Biloxi, where Coleman Crow seeks missing-in-action-as-of-late run support in Madison, Alabama. Enjoy your Sunday, everyone! It’s also prominently featured in Saturday morning’s Link Report! -
Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Make sure you carve out forty minutes this weekend for this: Transactions: Nashville Sounds activated LHP Tyler Jay from the Development List. Wisconsin Timber Rattlers activated OF Kay-Lan Nicasia from the 7-day injured list. Final: Indianapolis (Pirates) 5, Nashville 4 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Squander Late Lead in Indy - Alfaro Hits Go-Ahead Home Run in Top of the 8th Inning Once the Pirates are done playing the Super-Two arbitration wait-out, their Paul Skenes - Bubba Chandler combo is going to be fire: Tobias Myers' outing (nine baserunners in five innings, two WP's, 96 pitches) was at best, serviceable. I have commented in the past that from a purely percentage basis, the salary gap is exasperating for a AAA player vs. MLB, even for a 40-man roster player. The 2025 MLB minimum is $760,000 vs. a minimum of $62,000 for a player in Myers' status. Never mind the perks and lifestyle, that differential of twelve times over is immense, and it's always in the back of my mind as players are bounced between levels. The Brewers are getting as-bargained-for performances from Bobby Dalbec and Eddie Rosario, that's exactly what you want to see in case either is needed at the big-league level. Enter the "veteran moxie" type of cliches as you wish, but that's exactly what Matt Arnold and Pat Murphy will cite if circumstances require call-ups there. Unfortunately, Craig Yoho's first outing vs. a Pittsburgh affiliate didn't match his "Yo-Ho-Ho" Pirates name theme. Two outs, then walk, stolen base, ground ball RBI single (Rosario OF error advanced the batter to second), then fly ball RBI single. Lead lost, save blown, one of the two runs unearned. Ernesto Martinez remains idle since exiting Wednesday's game early. Oliver Dunn (0-for-5, 1 K) is just so far from another MLB chance as of now. It's too bad. You'll find three highlight links at the Sounds' "X" feed, including the bright moment of Yoho's night. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 2, Rocket City (Angels) 1 Box Score and Game Log Catch up with the latest Biloxi pre-game audio interview archives Pitching Dominates in Shuckers 2-1 Win Over Trash Pandas - Kuehner strikes out eight over 5.2 innings, Yeager ties league lead with eighth save Always get a bit nostalgic when the Shuckers are in greater Huntsville (Madison, AL) for a visit. Biloxi has scored just six runs total in the first four games of this series, so the fact that LHP Tate Kuehner and three relievers held Rocket City to just one run was especially needed to grab the first victory of this series after three tight losses. Four Shuckers highlights here, offense, defense and pitching all within. Yes, he's just 19, but this is Nelson Rada's second season in AA. And you thought the Brewers promote aggressively. The Angels are notorious in this regard. Cooper Pratt singled and walked, but was caught-stealing, still an OK 10-for-13 on the basepaths this season. In 2024, he was 24-for-27 in SB attempts vs. A-Ball and High-A pitchers and catchers. Happy for Matt Wood, he homers in consecutive games. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Wisconsin 10, Peoria (Cardinals) 1 Box Score and Game Log Rattlers Bounce Back to Beat Peoria You know the routine for T-Rat home games: read the linked summary, enjoy the video highlights, listen to the postgame podcast as you finish up with Carolina and Maryvale below. Enjoy! We really should reach out to Jayson Stark of The Athletic to find out the last time two MLB teams traded 10-1 scores back-to-back. Oddities like that make compiling Link Reports so interesting. RHP Tanner Gillis (ten groundouts in his seven stellar innings) was channeling his inner (and outer) Quinn Priester Friday night. What an effort by both! Do you know why the Brewers are excited about and paid the price for six-plus years of Quinn Priester control? To put things in perspective, Priester is five weeks younger than Gillis. That's not to take away from the indy signing out of the MLB Partner Draft League. By the way, how cool is it that our Link Reports are prominently linked on Baseball Reference pages like Gillis'? When you listen to the Brenton del Chiaro interview, you'll hear him mention the gap in top-end talent that exists with the Wisconsin club currently. It's not stated in a disrespectful manner, but it is stated. This club has fought back to a 23-26 record. Manager Victor Estevez remains top-notch, and hopefully every player toiling in Appleton this year fights through the white noise to fully establish and advance themselves in affiliated ball, whether with the Crew or down the road. Rooting for you, guys. Blake Burke, hello. Bumped your OBP to .395 by reaching all five times Friday. Eduardo Garcia, hello. You'll be lining up offers as a versatile, young 23-year-old minor league free agent this October if you keep up your current efforts. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Carolina 8, Salem (Red Sox) 7 Box Score and Game Log Bitonti Grand Slam Lifts Mudcats Past Red Sox So darn entertaining, this Mudcats team. So bittersweet for the folks in Zebulon, but Wilson is just a marathon distance (26.2 miles) away for 2026 and beyond. In the "OK, let's get the season turned around" category: It would be awesome if Bitonti has found something to build on and extend his current tear. Oh, by the way, did you remember he is playing this entire season as a teenager? That helps explain how you go from an 0-for-5, golden sombrero Thursday to what we witnessed Friday. Braylon Payne (not even 19 years old until August) was idle after playing the prior two days. Payne is pretty prominent in Brenton del Chiaro's podcast commentary. Credit where it's due - this was LHP Wande Torres' best outing of 2025. Final: ACL Brewers 5, ACL Rangers 1 Box Score and Game Log The A-Crew's pitching has been so strong, and the staff is so young relative to the rest of the competitions' staffs. Mad props to those of you who embrace the Statcast data and publish or consume these types of images. As for me, they just get me hankering for Dippin' Dots. Love you, younger generation. Another 19-year-old, corner infielder (and 2024 corner OF/INF) Gery Holguin celebrated in a big way as the box score will show, on the same day that Brewers Player Development highlighted his efforts. Oh, Jeferson Quero DH'd. He homered and walked. We did hear that his hamstring injury was nearly of the severity that surgery was required, so we shouldn't belittle the recovery path. Apparently, when Jeferson gets banged up, he really gets banged up. It's Jacob Misiorowski headlining four Saturday evening games (the Arizona kids are idle until Monday, kind of a school in-service weekend for them). When the Maryvale Men return to action Monday, they will be joined by DSL Brewers Gold and DSL Brewers Blue!
