    I'm with logan. There is nothing that excuses bad decisions. Even if we win The world series, we could have done better if more logical decisions were made. Hairston is a better hitter and fielder than kotsay as someone pointed out. Someone else can bat third.

    I would not be in favor of focusing more on hitters. If anything I'd lean pitcher because of scarcity; but ideally we would have more balanced drafts than we've been having. Seems to be a lot of hole patching going on. Talent can be traded for other talent if needed regardless of position.

    It really doesn't matter to me whether or not Braun is cocky. I personally think he just has a cocky face, kind of like Cutler has a jerk-face. They were born with it. They can't help it (although it really does appear as if Cutler is a jerk). My main point is that all of these guys are young, rich, confident, supremely athletic males. Some are going to be jags, some will be cocky, some will be arrogant, etc...and it will always appear that the other teams' guys are worse than your own players. The difference is that not all of them offer commentary on others as if their own *stuff* doesn't stink like Pujols does/LaRussa does on his players' behalf. Which makes them uber-jags.

    Thanks. It wasn't really supposed to be a snap, it was an example of why other teams' fans may not like Braun. Sorry for the whiplash.

    You mean other than when he got tossed after that close play at first this year? Braun definitely has some cocky tendencies or at least the appearance of them. Many players do. The difference is they don't walk around talking all high and mighty about what others are doing/should be doing. It must be in TLR's book about how to get in the heads of the closest competition.

    Sounds like Gomez thinks he'll be back more quickly than originally thought. I wish we had kept Carroll when we got Hairston. Second best will be Carlos making a speedy recovery allowing Hairston to (or forcing RR to let him) play more infield.

    Might a player's agent have a motivation not to disclose that their player is on a PTBNL list in case they don't get chosen? Maybe public perception or (if the player doesn't want to be traded) keeping that info from other GM's who might think they are on the block? Just guessing/speculation.

    Here is Haudricourt's response to this article via email: "I don't think this is a big shock that McGehee and Betancourt have had down years. Counsell obviously has been bad. Kotsay however has helped win some games." Not only is he under the inexplicable spell of Mark Kotsay, he also completely misses the point of the article. That's our beat writer. Keep lobbing in those softballs, Tom.
