  1. well, when you know the strike zone could be 3"-10" outside it forces you to swing at crap like that.
  2. I'm feeling a big swing third strike followed by a triple summer salt, lol.
  3. wow, I suppose you don't think the second summer salt was needed either...
  4. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/121440619.html Sveum chimes in
  5. I was wondering if we'd even bother today http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. I guess I'm in the camp that thinks managers don't make a huge difference and its probably best when you don't notice they are there. That said, they do make SOME difference, either positively or negatively and it would be nice to get a manager without some kind of major impediment: Yost: defensive/stubbornMacha: personality and communication ability of a wooden postRoenicke: no clue how to properly use data to make decisions (at least offensively) My least favorite pastime is watching people compare Yost to Macha to Roenicke, its like comparing dumb, dumber, and dumberer (or Betancourt to Escobar http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ). I do not believe there are no good managers out there. Baseball just seems stuck in the "traditional" way of hiring. So lets keep RRR for the clubhouse chemistry and hire a computer to make our lineup and in-game decisions (or just rehire Macha for that part http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ) Manager woahhs solvdd.
  7. that about sums up the reasons for why I'm in favor of the changes I'm in favor of: because the way RR chose to do them made no sense to begin with.
  8. Probably a combination of being angry that RR was choosing to bunt in that situation mixed with frustration over the injury and general frustration about the season so far.
  9. I would expect a big regression on the BABIP, and I'm not sure we can expect his major league OBP numbers to mirror is minor league numbers when it does. His walk rates in the minors were mostly double digits, with a high of 15% in AA. Last year it was 6% in the majors, this year so far it is 8%. Hopefully that keeps on climbing. That said, I think I agree that Lucroy is the best #2 option (assuming we won't ever put Fielder there) we have right now, and he's a heck of a lot more palatable in that spot than Gomez.
  10. We all saw what having/trading good prospects can net a team this off season. I think it is imperative to draft BPA if we are going to stay strong as an organization.
  11. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/120652719.html The POY award seems a bit premature http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. an interesting poll in the JS today. Who is a better hitter Braun or Fielder? So far an overwhelming 89% of respondents say Braun. I'm not surprised that more people thing Braun is better based on his historical popularity in Milwaukee and the recent contract; but I'm suprised the gap is as big as it is in the polling. Its fun to compare these two because they are pretty much equal in other important ways: both not great on D, neither plays a premium defensive position, about the same age, both have good injury histories. And also because of their differences: lefty/righty, athletic and thin vs strangely athletic and "hefty", etc... Lets ignore the fact that Braun is more of a base stealing threat for this argument. I'm definitely a Fielder guy. Most of the difference for me is that Fielder has traditionally been more patient at the plate than Braun has. Braun has definitely closed the gap in recent years and will continue to/may surpass fielder if he continues doing what he's doing EARLY this year; but he's not there yet. What do you say?
  13. even if he individually hits a tic or two better in the two hole, he would be in a position to hurt the team more overall by getting more AB's and making more outs than his theoretical replacement. Why would we want to do that?
  14. Nope. There are actually three reasons I put that statement in there: 1) he is my favorite Brewer of all time and I don't want him to leave 2) the cubs are my least favorite team of all time and of all places I don't want him to go there, and 3) He will make the cubs better. I said I HOPE you are wrong, not that I think you are. People booing him will just make me think they are idiots. Unfortunately the least classy among us are often the loudest voices. Personally, I've only ever booed one ex-brewer and that is Sheffield because he admitted to making errors on purpose.
  15. As a Brewers fan, I hope you are wrong. We drafted Prince knowing (or at least we should have known) that if he did well things would go this way. Its the only way Boras operates and players choose him for a reason. Prince gave us his all while he was here and never made any false promises about staying around unless he would get paid like he would on the open market. He's got his own reasons for handling his contracts like he has, and that is his right. It may not be what many of us want him to choose or think we would choose; but I don't begrudge him that. At the risk of sounding like a St Louisan, I would hope Wisconsin is classier than that. I really really really hope he does not end up a Cub.
  16. I'm generally not in favor of moves made just so you can keep a guy (especially a non-prospect backup). I'd much rather have the best big league roster in a year that we are "going for it". In fairness, I have been impressed by how nimble and quick Nieves's feet are behind the plate. This is nowhere near better enough to make up the difference between his and Kottaras's bat.
  17. No truth to it per this article, of course, what else are they going to say? I tend to believe he is staying put. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/120347429.html
  18. Fair enough, I didn't express myself well. What I meant was that almost any thread having anything to do with the bucks contains posts that are there just to express how much the NBA/Bucks suck or how much they don't care about them.
  19. Really? Look back in every bucks thread ever and you'll see people show up just to say that. I understand being frustrated with the TV situation early in the year; but I would assume those contracts are laid out with the bucks and brewers and things can't be shifted much. Hopefully the flexibility or Brewers favoritism can be put into the next one...if the Bucks are in a playoff chase though I, for one, wouldn't like it.
