  1. Oh, God, please no Point taken though (I think) probably not going to happen.
  2. Per Jon Heyman tweet, the brewers are looking at Wily Mo (among a few other clubs). I like it.
  3. I wasn't exagerrating, I just said it was too long. One day of Almonte was too long. Sorry, read 1 year as two on baseball reference.
  4. yeah; but betancourt hasn't broken 90 since 2007 and sat in the 60's for two seasons before hitting 88 last year. Point is, he stinks, has stunk, and will stink barring extreme luck or miracle and we keep on going back to that well. Luckily he makes up for it with his glove. People have been saying McGehee is more comfortable for over a month but it hasn't helped him in the results department; he'd probably be even more comfortable on the bench. Almonte and Nieves aren't here anymore; but they were Melvin/Roenicke's choice for too long. Overall, choosing to give 400 more PA's to terrible hitters than your nearest competitor in a year you are "going for it" is inexcusable. ESPECIALLY when there is are two feasible replacements for McGehee raking in the minors.
  5. So you have concluded definitively that this isn't the case? I think most that post here understand that scouting is not an exact science and that draft pundits are often wrong. Its also the only information we have to go on unless we are lucky enough to see people in person. People here are also willing and able to gradually change their opinions once real data starts coming in. We're about to get the first trickle of real data on Ramirez.
  6. I agree; but if Melvin agreed I think Green would be up by now.
  7. So call up Taylor Green and trade for a shortstop (Barmes, Wilson, Ryan, Carroll, Furcal). Both woahhs sollvdd
  8. http://www.brewcrewball.com/2011/7/21/2287068/the-problem-with-moving-rickie-weeks-down-in-the-lineup I agree with them. Weeks should be no lower than 2 (or 3 with Braun out)
  9. Velocity is faked all the time. Its called jacked up minor league radar guns. Not saying this is the case for Santo; but it has been for many many prospects over the years.
  10. No thanks on Betemit. I'm in favor of spending to upgrade short only. Holes are what prospects are for. Unfortunately Green seems to be citizen zero. I'm totally fine with a rookie playing during a playoff chase....at least much more OK than I am playing two guys who stink.
  11. I'm supposed to WATCH the games? I thought reading blogs and simulating the season in OOTP would be enough.
  12. 1. Betancourt2. Nieves (I just KNOW he'll be back)3. Kotsay (not really his fault, I hate how he is used)4. Wolf (mound antics)5. Counsell (love the guy; but its just painful to watch)
  13. man, I thought Machado was good...I still think he was. Is he out of prison yet? edit, got my own answer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julio_Machado
  14. I like that this post was edited, and still says "goog" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. I can't believe this thread hasn't died yet http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. The google street view car came through on a thursday in summer for me.
  17. unless that statement is just posturing or tricky accounting and/or maybe just true for a few teams. I'm coming around more and more to the idea that the NBA should contract, maybe even including the Bucks.
  18. Cheez, I think Scarpetta and Peralta are not candidates because they are on the 40 man.
  19. I hope it involves Hunter Morris. I'm thinking it will be Gindl and Ross
  20. Is his arm worse than Betancourt's range? Hard to imagine. I'm sure he wouldn't light the world on fire with his bat either considering his minor league stats; but he couldn't be worse than our current guys...could he?
  21. Could Eric Farris be worse at SS than the options currently on the roster?
  22. From a distance he seems like a lighter hitting Kevin Barker.
  23. If Roenicke/Melvin would do any/all of the following I'd have a much better impression of him/them: 1) RR, please learn to MANAGE a bullpen rather than assign roles in stone and call names. Thinking is not a bad thing. I am hoping that yesterday was a sign of things to come; but I am not holding out much hope. 2) Melvin, please take away all of RR's toys, and give him some alternatives (and make sure he will use them). Mostly referring to Kotsay as far as taking away; but also alternatives to Yuni/Counsel/Wilson and McGehee. Boggs/Carrol would go a long way here. Gamel should be considered for use at third AND in the outfield (over Kotsay) on a regular basis. If Gamel is not a regular option for 3rd in your mind, call up Green. Great job removing Nieves and giving him an alternative in Kottaras; however, please talk to Wolf and tell him that no matter how much he whines, he will be throwing to Lucroy if we are facing a lefty. 3) Learn to fill out a lineup card. Is anything in a manager's job description any easier than filling out a lineup card? For gosh sake, please stop using ridiculously small sample splits and your gut for the lineup and pinch hitting decisions. 4) Teach your players HOW to play your aggressive base running style and hold them accountable for good decisions, not just encouraging aggressive decisions regardless of situation. This may be happening as I'm seeing fewer and fewer base running gaffes.
