  1. If you can't host the file elsewhere, or if you don't know what I mean, just let us know. Can anyone host a JPG for Al to use as his avatar? Let us know... on behalf of Al, I appreciate it! Can't you just put it on a blog and then link to it?
  2. I'm with Bill, I don't think Rogers8Fan said anything that a professional athlete shouldn't be able to handle, nor did he make any personal attacks on or unfair statements about Rogers. I guess that's just the nature of this type of board: everyone shares fact and opinion at the same time. As long as the opinions don't cross the line, there is certainly a place for them here.
  3. Sheesh....Bennett is awful....Coste is hitting .291 at AAA...maybe he could hit 225 or so? come on! I'd think it'd certainly be worth a try. The only worry I have is about how much Bennett's ability to "call a game" has helped the pitching staff. As awful as he's been at the plate, I guess he may be useful if he works with pitchers that well. Personally, I think it's all about Maddux though, so Bennett's time should hopefully be limited. However, he is very grizzled and can scrap, battle, and display grit with the best, so Ned may veto any move to release him.
  4. Yeah, it changes to "regular" after 100 posts. If the title bothers you, just go on some crusade where you repeatedly use meaningless stats to support a horrible player, or advocate playing a guy out of position, and you'll be in the 15,000 post range in a few months.
  5. hscoach, I'm just curious as to the pronunciation of Gallardo's name. I'm assuming it would be pronounced "Guy-yardo", but I know that some people adopt more "americanized" pronunciations of their last name. So are you in Ft. Worth? I ask because I'm a half hour from Dallas/Ft Worth, and it's cool to find out that there are other people following the Brewers down here. Too bad I couldn't have known he was gonna be drafted by the crew or I'd have made the drive down this year.
  6. Mark Rogers, at the game, just stated, "I hope I can have as good a career as Matt Kinney". All he needs to do is follow that with "...and be as healthy as J.M. Gold" and he'll have officially set his sights lower than any first rounder in the history of the game.
  7. It hurts to keep losing the 3rd game, but on the other hand, if we win 2 out of every 3 games the rest of the way, we will unequivocally be World Series winners That's the way I feel. If we keep taking two games out of three from teams that are as good or better than us talent-wise, I'm pretty happy.
  8. I'm not trying to be picky, but just so we avoid any future Richie Sexton references That's Richard Sexton thank you very much. I don't see the commitment to TCU being a huge deal either, since he's going to be getting a serious hunk of change to sign, and it's not like he has a commitment to LSU, Texas, or some other storied baseball powerhouse.
  9. You can't help but root for a guy named Lenny. Great to see us open the wallet and make a potential steal (in terms of draft position) in the 11th round.
  10. I think that outside of Rogers and Gallardo who get credit for being 1st/2nd rounder, it would be hard to immediately justify top 30 billing for any of the other draftees until they have a few weeks of Rookie ball. I pretty much agree except for in the case of Baker, who's much more of a known commodity than the other players we took early.
  11. I use I 6.0 on Windows ME and have not had any such links.
  12. The Crew needs to get into the habit of finishing opponents off when they are on the ropes. Perhaps your not aware of this, but the Brewers are a baseball team, not a boxer. And a baseball team expected to be about 20 games under .500 at that. I won't be losing any sleep when we fail to pull of a sweep as long as we take the series.
  13. As we all know, the Brewers have a good record in games in which a guy named Franklin was the starting pitcher: numbers never lie.
  14. Granted most teams have poor 5th starters, but Wes is hardly good enough to hold back any sort of young pitcher who might have a future.Melvin would know better than me if Hendrickson is ready to pitch every 5th day in the bigs, but Wes blocking his path wouldnt be much of the consideration for me. I agree that Wes has been pretty darn bad on several occasions, and I wonder if having all these Mondays off factors into the decision to leave Hendrickson at AAA at all since those off days make us less reliant on a #5 starter than if our off days were scattered throughout the week. Since we don't have to rely too heavily on our #5, it may be smarter to leave Hendrickson in the minors to get lots of work and avoid blowing service time by giving him the #5 spot. Later in the season we won't be able to skip the fifth spot as much, and that may be the best time to bring Ben up with a shot of staying in the bigs for good.
  15. His fastball was as fast as a Geo? Does that mean it will take him until the 5th inning to reach the 60s? I shouldn't admit to this, but I once buried the needle in my Prizm: they can hit the low-90's with the standard 1.6 liter. Now, if you're talking Prizm LS, with a screaming 1.8 liter powerplant, that's some serious speed.
  16. I always get mixed feelings when Scott hits a homer. Now he's gonna try and pull everything for the next week again. Oh well, I'll take this one! I get that same fear after he jacks one, it's kinda like a Coors Field effect in that it seems to make him think he's a power hitter rather than the contact guy with gap power he is when he's at his best. Blasted FSN, the station I get here usually carries Astros games with Ranger games being on the local FOX affiliate, but not this series, the one time I really cared that they showed the stros.
  17. What, only one page of posts? It's already the second inning! (I'll do something about that right now.) I would try to jump-start more conversation by discussing what I just ate, but it was ramen noodles and a hot sauce sandwhich, not likely to make anyone salivate.
  18. 472 pitches. That's not as impressive when you consider that Batman and Roco had that many posts between the two of 'em. Expect both to be out with nasty cramps in their fingers and wrists for a few days.
  19. Time to crack one of the Leinie's I brought back from my trip back to WI.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/pimp.gif And think, we didn't even have to sacrifice that chicken. Pogo, was the triple post an attempt to reach the 1,000 mark?
  20. JP just said Mark Rogers might be on the pregame tomorrow. At the rate this game is going, he may be ready to start our next game.
  21. Getting rid of Joeboo worked for Pedro Cerrano WE MUST SACRIFICE A LIVE CHICKEN! Come to think of it, there's a couple farms less than a mile from here.... I'm going on a walk, be back soon.
  22. All this talk of sandwiches made me hungry and I made two Ham & Cheeses. Thanks a lot Toby, I just lost 35 pounds and now I'm gonna get fat again thanks to your hypnotic posts that made me crave a second dinner. Then again, the deep depression the Brewers hitters have put me in should cause a severe enough loss of appetite to offset even the mightiest bratwurst binge. Just end the friggin game already, I only slept 3 hours last night.
  23. SIMILAR TO BROOKS KIESCHNICK. Yeah, but can he also hit bombs after finishing his second pack of Marlboros?
  24. The "D" in Podsednik is silent? Well shut my mouth, my apologies to Mr. Scully. Not sure how I could have missed that. Last year his relatives made the trip over to Houston and talked with Jim Powell and they told him that it's pronounced "Puh-sed-nik". Almost everyone in the media still pronounces it "Pod-sed-nik", so don't fell bad, you wouldn't have heard the correct pronunciation unless you listened to the Brewers broadcast.
  25. WHAT THE WHY IS DURRINGTON HITTING WITH GRIEVE AND KIESCH ON THE BENCH?!?! That AB tonight looked like me when I go to the batting cage, he looks avsolutely clueless and outmatched at the plate and seems to really get fooled easily by breaking balls.
