  1. His 5.10 career ERA at least indicates that he'll prevent us from having to endure another prolonged Rusch of Ruby loss streak. This is seemingly a can't lose situation: a guy who can stop the bleeding for peanuts. My only question is: does he have a Wright of Roa-like clause in his contract requiring his addition to the 25-man within a specified timeframe? I would assume he would have asked for that given that we got him because he demanded his release rather than be sent to AAA.
  2. What's Richie's problem, did they put runners on 2nd and 3rd and put 2 outs on the scoreboard? 1 homer, not good.
  3. if noone feels that the Crew can win, why not lose so next years #1 in the draft is guarinteed ours. Though the Padres are starting to show life, it has looked at times as if we couldn't be worse than them if we tried. Even if we trade Jenks or Sexson+EY+Clayton+DJ+VW, we still may only lose 105 , which may not be enough to be worse than San Diego because they're gonna dump players too, and will still be that much worse.
  4. Pods' baserunning helps manufacture yet another run. I can't believe Richie came through in such a clutch situation. Anyone wanna predict how we'll end up blowing it?
  5. Anyone else wondering if it's time to do an MRI on DeJean? How 'bout a lobotomy? Way to go Pods, let's take this friggin' game!
  6. I was trying to figure out who this Woah Solvdd guy was. I believe Woah Solvdd was a backup sitar player for Ravi Shankar from '79-'86.
  7. catching WOAH SOLVDD When I read this I thought it was a warning of a mutated form of SARS being spread around. Yep that "palsmo" guy is something else, just like that Tommy Gyumm guy we drafted in the second round.
  8. Today I heard the last words I wanted to hear out of Jim Powell: ..."and Royce Clayton has a chance to win this game". The same chance I had of winning the powerball jackpot last night off my 1 ticket.
  9. I find the Brewers' jerseys to be awesome and of course the logo is possibly the best and most clever of all time. The old logo has to come back in some way, shape, or form. The new logo lacks that unique quality the old one had, but more importantly, it lacks history. During times when the Yankees, Cubs, or Red Sox suck, you still look at their "out-dated" logo with respect, because it represents the great teams that wore it. When you look at the Brewers current logo you think of an age of futility. I don't care if they even bring back the old colors, heck keep the new ones to give it a more "modern" look, but that logo has to find its way back onto the field.
  10. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. NO! Not the Astros throwbacks! Then we absolutely CANNOT forget about those, because no one outside of the gangsta rap industry wants to ever see those again. http://memorylnsports.com/mm-33jersey1.jpg
  11. What if I spell like one of the worlds greatest philosophers, but my thoughts are like a 9 year-old? Then you'd a sports writer for MJS.
  12. Your mastery of the English language astounds me. DeJean is obviously struggling but everyone goes through rough spells... Was rough "spells" intended to be a pun? Regardless, I found it quite humorous. Brewcrew, you're not in AOL teen chat anymore, the stupid abbreviations and absolute lack of spelling ability do not add anything to threads; they only let us know that you are 9 years old, come to this page when you're done looking at girls' boobies online, and already cuss like a sailor. A spell check button was added at the bottom of the screen for a reason: so your posts can appear to be well-thought and articulate. Something you have to at least attempt to do if you want anything you say to be taken seriously. Your thoughts could blow away the works of the greatest philosophers in content, but if you spell like a 9 year-old, you still look like an idiot.
  13. I guess all DJ needed to start pitching well again was a haircut. I disagree here, the key to being a dominant closer is to have a dominant mullet. Look at Rod Beck, Doug Jones, and other great closers who had awesome Tennessee top hats. DeJean needs to grow himself a nasty Camaro Cut/Firebird Flap and he'll be right back on top of things for good.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  14. ...another good crowd, another loss. Grand slam was exciting. I know this has been discussed several times, but I have to say it again. Even though this team is only a slight improvement over last year's squad record-wise, there have been far fewer games this year that haven't at least provided a few exciting moments. There hasn't been a single game this year that I've become too frustrated with and turned off halfway through, because I've almost ALWAYS thought they had a shot of pulling it off, I couldn't say that last year.
  15. That should be the trend now. Instead of paying out huge commissions to agents, keep that extra money for yourself, or buy your parents something nice, whatever. But that's pretty hard to do when Scott Boras owns your soul, as is the case with tons of MLB players. EDIT: oops, added a picture that was way bigger than I thought it'd be.
  16. Flying under the radar... EY is now 19 for 21 in stolen base attempts. Over 80% is darn good, but he's over 90%. Yeah, the rest of his game is nothing to celebrate, but that's really impressive.
  17. It would be better for him, the team, and my blood pressure Hey, if you have any of the anti-depressants I'll need, I do have a prescription for propranalol. Maybe we can trade.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  18. I'm gonna need to go to the Dr. and get Prozac to get me through the season if DeJean stays in as closer.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif
  19. The homeplate ump (can't rememeber who) was maintaining a large strike zone, and not just for the Twins. I have no problem with a guy expanding or shrinking the strike zone, as long as he does it with both teams, which he did in this case. So yeah, pitches just off the edges were called strikes, but they were called that way on us too.
  20. Why is Leskanic not getting at least a portion of the save opprtunities? I'm a fan of DJ's, but Leskanic has been great this year. Plus, being on the trading block, his value could make a jump if he's placed in save situations and pitches the way he has. We could then market him as a closer and set-up man, seemingly making him more valuable.
  21. Watching DJ in the 9th has been like watching a train wreck. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  22. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ya, that really ruined the game tonight, watching Kieschnik knock the ball around the ballpark instead of watching Kinney feebly wave the stick. And it'll ruin the game another night when our opponent keeps a hot pitcher in a close game instead of going to a weak pen because they don't have to make a double switch or PH for him. Just because the DH worked out in our favor ONE TIME doesn't mean it's a great rule. I actually love the present set-up of having the DH in the AL to keep players like Edgar Martinez and Frank Thomas in baseball And we all love professional wrestling because allowed an aging Joe Louis to continue to fight. When you're washed-up, you're washed up. How 'bout we make a rule in football so Dan Marino, Joe Montana, and John Elway can come back: when they come in, the opposing defense would not be allowed to sack them, and opposing CBs would have to wear 50 pound ankle weights. Then we could keep the legends around longer, and place them on a level playing field.
  23. Knowing DH rules is like knowing the laws in some backward third-world country. They don't and shouldn't matter to us since we live in a more enlightened country and play in a more enlightened league. We only have to put up with this twisted contortion of baseball for a couple games a year, so I couldn't care less about what the rules are for DHs, because anything regarding that joke of a position is just another reason the DH taints the game of baseball. There's still no double-switch, that's all that matters.
  24. Given the size of the commissions how many players could do better by just hiring a contract attorney to review it beforethey sign, especially with the slots MLB has. You can hire an agent and pay him 400K to get you an extra 100K, or pocket the difference. When you're a FA, it's like hiring a lawyer when you've been in an accident. You pay him so much, but he increases your take-home by enough to make his fees well worthwhile, but this only applies if several teams want you. I think A-rod is a prime example of what an agent can do for your pocketbook if several teams will pay whatever it takes to get you (though hicks was bidding against himself toward the end), and there are several others whose agents have scored them millions above what they're worth. But I don't see why guys who are just happy to get a job paying the minimum wouldn't just pay an attorney a small fee since they know the min. is the best they'l get.
  25. Next up.... Thomas Sexson. Or maybe they'd screw up and use his middle name "Lockwood Sexson". Reportedly, he does not like when people mention his snotty sounding whole name: Richmond Lockwood Sexson. Sounds like an all-star water polo player, not baseball player.
