LOL...I think Dallas has to value him as a 1st to be honest. He's SO good...maybe you give up a 1st and ask for a 2nd back? I don't know, with the understanding this is clearly not going to happen...he's SO good and so reliable(him missing from 51 was a shock) I just can't see a 3rd being enough. SF used a 3rd on Moody and he's a nice kicker, but Aubrey has become the best kicker in the league. Some questions about how he plays in the NFCN, Lambeau, but...I think it'd be a 1st with us hopefully getting a pick back. That's his value, would I give that up for a kicker? That's tough. You think about who you could get in the 1st rd, a guy like Kenneth Grant or one of these CBs in a very deep class. I don't know, I hate that question because I've gone back and forth about 5 times just in my own head about it here!

You'd have to tell me which ones you're talking about. I just didn't see terrible decisions, I saw him coming up short on waay too many throws...but it's hard to see on the TV view. If it's a decision-making issue...which I'm skeptical of, it's a bigger issue. I'll wait and see what Andy Herman says. On another note, Riley Patterson is a FA kicker(I believe). Maybe he's worth looking at. Otherwise do you trade for a kicker? That seems silly AND I kinda reject the idea that the Kicker cost us this game. The Vikings are playing differently if the game is 28-13 and it appeared they took their foot off the gas a bit. It's possible they put another one on the board to make it 35-13. But it doesn't really matter, you can't keep taking easy points off the board. Obviously, in hindsight, Greg Joseph looks like the guy we should have kept, but we have to solve this issue.

I heard him say that several times like...what the hell difference does it make!?! It's a turnover either way, NOT a Packers turnover...why are still on this? Also, how did the guys calling the game NOT know immediately that it wasn't a TD? I get if a casual or even a normal fan thinks that's a TD(it could have been had whoever it was let it roll) but if you call games, you should know, you cannot pick up a muffed punt and run with the ball! Is Crosby? Maybe you bring him in, put him on your PS and let him get back into shape...and I'm not against calling Carlson again, though my opinion of him kinda contradicts that. It felt like on shorter kicks, he would...basically the equivalent of getting the yips or short arming a throw. Where you struggle to throw it back to the pitcher, but you can throw a strike to the 2nd basemen. Carlson was better on longer kicks. But if you're going to bring someone else in to get them ready, someone like Crosby who's likely very reliable inside of 45-50 if he's in shape, he'd probably still be pressing and you're just swapping out one talented, strong leg who's struggling with the last one. I WOULD feel better with Crosby though.

You think it's his decision-making that's bad? I haven't re-watched yet, but it appeared to me it was more of an accuracy issue. That throw to Wicks that was intercepted, that's not a bad decision at all in that spot. You have to trust your guy to go get it or break it up. The other picks were off-hands or short. Several passes were short and guys had to try and dive to get them. You still have drops by guys like Wicks. I'm hoping the rhythm they got into late in the game can fuel them, but I didn't see it as just bad decisions or poor reads but poor throws. I'm not taking a really strong position on that until(if) I actually watch it again, but it just seemed very similar to the Eagles game but vs a better defense frankly. Florres is running the scheme we want to see in GB. And now to your point about injuries in key spots, Jaire is a guy we cannot afford to lose. Not if we want to be a press man team. You've got Nixon matched up on Jefferson on a 3rd and 13 and he's just running a simple crosser. Valentine as well. We didn't take a CB. Mitchell in the 1st would have been great(I wanted an OT, not complaining about Morgan in the least, but the fact is, I didn't think Mitchell would be there after ~15). My overall opinion of this team has not changed. I think we're one of the most talented. You need more out of Love and then...we're just not getting pressure on the QB. The guy who's doing the most, Wyatt is banged up. But Clark, Gary, LVN, Smith...Enagbare had a great game last week but he's not a reliable pass rusher. That's a problem. I was happy to see more Cooper. He's a dude and I think he'll continue to make an impact.

This seems like such a weird comment when you look at the two physically. One is ~230, elite speed. The other, Jones is smaller, does not have elite speed...but they are similar. They both run hard, Jones runs harder than most backs his size(or than bigger backs) and they are both so patient and have such great vision. Not to re-litigate it...particularly as Jacobs has been what we've asked him to be, but man, I wish Jones was still here. He was on the end and I wish we'd have at least offered him a couple Million more, the same the Vikings did. That duo out of the backfield, now with Lloyd and Wilson would make a great backfield. That said, I co-sign the "hope you cough it up this week Aaron." I'd say "I'll always be a fan," but that's not true. I'll be a fan of you 15 games a year!

The Mets are the obvious answer, but beyond that, the Braves will have to go through a couple of their top pitchers. I'm alright with facing them, but they are very talented...even with a "down" year from some of their studs. Mets and then D-Backs in the 1st rd would be fine. After that, just getting out of the playoff "drought" which we measure very differently than we used to, I see the Phillies having the most obvious horses in their rotation, they've got a balanced lineup. The Dodgers have a ton of talented arms to throw at you and 3 just incredible franchise players, but...short series... it's so unpredictable. So I'd prefer the Padres over them next, but I don't really care. Weird things happen, it's about who's playing well, who's playing loose. I wouldn't be surprised to see Montas, Civale, Ashby and Hall giving you 3-4 great innings stretches. I'm limiting Freddy to 4-5 innings and letting him know that going in. Let him empty the tank a bit early this post-season...I like our staff, chances and how we're playing as a team.

Sure...those guys, especially O'Neil are exceptional run blockers as well. I hadn't realized how bad Walker's knee was as a rookie though. I can't find the link, but it was basically a decent shot his career was dead with a bunch of microfractures in there that he played through at PSU. So...he's hanging onto his job and I'm holding out hope there's still another level to his game. It's been a mixed bag this year. Not facing the best pass rushers in Tenn, Indy and then the Eagles are far better on the interior, but you can definitely win with him. No question about that. I'd also be looking to upgrade in the meantime. So if they went back and took a OT first rd next year, I'd be good with that even. It's one of those positions, along with DL, I'm fine with regularly drafting early. If Morgan isn't the answer at LT, but is a really good OG, fine. The guy I was already putting in Green and Gold after our first Vikings game last year, Joe Alt has had an incredible start to the season up until his injury, locking down Maxx Crosby in Week 1. But, I'm certainly asking a whole lot there. Right now, this OL looks like it's one of Gute's misses(Myers over Creed) from being one of the top 3 groups in the league.

I'm saying if we signed him to the same deal as we did before he had any service time and waited until he started to hit at the MLB level, it'd cost another 80-100M. It read as another extension from 30-40 years for Chourio though. Team control of...his entire career basically.

I'm just sliding Civale back in there. I think he's just been too good and he might have just cemented it. I think he's very possibly a Gm2 Starter, Montas Gm3... Could be wrong, that's just my feeling. I'd still like Mears as I felt like he was really on today, but a few blown calls knocked him off his game and I think you'll have to hold onto him for next year...when I do think he'll be a weapon. I'm pretty sure the on position the Brewers are absolutely not going to go after in Free Agency...a power reliever! The Lab, the youth, we've got so many quality arms...I'd love to see Uribe healthy and having had a season to get ready for this time of the year, but...next year. Same with Mis, Yoho...and we don't lose a reliever other than Ross IIRC. The ones that are gone, Milner, that'll be because they're marginal upgrades(if that) over the LHPers we have and save money. But that's next year. This still loaded. I could see a scenario in which a Hall or Ashby start a game and then you bring in Civale or Montas. It's not quite a opener, but you could sorta force their hands. Really excited about this team...it just feels like a team that's young, plays loose, they're going to be together for a while and this just might be the 2010 Packers team. A year ahead of schedule. Or not. I feel like this year has been a success and however it ends, the future is bright. Now...lets go get a WS!

There shouldn't be any debate at this point. Zach Tom is one of the 3-5 truly foundational players on this team, he's going to get 24M+ a year, he's the next player they have to re-sign. This is why I wanted to see the Packers(and will continue to want to see them) draft and develop that OL. Having an OT like Tom, like Bakh...it makes your entire OL better. Tom right now can be left in one on one situations with elite pass rushers and lock them down. He can get out and lead on a screen or come from the backside and pull on a play. He's an elite athlete with elite balance, footwork, hands and just so incredibly valuable. I hope Jordan Morgan can develop like Tom if Walker doesn't(Walker's been a bit better than I think we're seeing as he's been called for so many big penalties he stands out more, but he's been...alright the first 3 games). Now...imagine Creed in the middle of this OL...oh well, Gute's not perfect, but another 4th rd OT who's elite and incredibly versatile. HR pick there.

Sure. Then the Brewers were limited for a couple years to...300K IIRC and that's really when Stearns LA signing really started to pay off. Outside of Salas(who I believe was American and moved to be able to sign earlier), have there been any TOP prospects, guys who've gotten 4-5M and become studs? Jasson Dominguez has had all the hype. He looks like he'll be a good player. The only guy I wish we'd have signed is Jaison Chourio...just because I think he compliments his Brother well and it'd be a cool story, but if it was Jaison Lara, I wouldn't care.

Much more? Eh, I don't know about that. That's 8 years at 160 and then two option years that'd...pay out big. Much-much more would be...what, 300M? You'd have had him for most of 7 years(though...he wouldn't have started with the MLB team)... But, it doesn't matter, we got him locked up. Hopefully we're worrying about paying him to remain a Brewers in 3-4 years...or not thinking about it at all, either way.

I remember just last year there were still people(a person) arguing that the cost of the Latin American academy was not worth it and we'd be better off spending ~10M a year on MLB FA rather than our "failed" attempt at getting an academy going in the DR. I think the future of this team would be bright, but take out Chourio, Quero, Made, even Uribe(who I still believe is a future closer)...and yeah, it's pretty easy to be content with how this team chooses to acquire talent. I also wish we were getting a top pitching prospect every once in a while. I wanted Camminti this past year and various HS pitchers in the past, but as risky as they are, it's a whole new level of risk. I'd just go after the most projectable arms, the guys with the biggest velocity and hope you can turn them into something...after focusing on the top position prospects. Uribe IIRC was a 10K signing bonus? Maybe it was 30K. I'm so excited about this franchise, not just because of the young players they have right now, but because if you squint and if guys pan out, it's not hard to see Quero, Made, Pratt, and Chourio all as AS caliber players(I like a lot of other American players like Bitonti, Wilken, etc...but those are blue chip, potential FV 60 type players and potential top 10 prospects. Quero could easily have been just repeating his '23 stat line in AAA with his defense). We've been one of the best teams in all of Baseball since 2018 and I really think the future is brighter in Milwaukee. And Mark Attanasio doesn't get the credit he deserves, but the Brewers COULD be spending another 10-15 a year on the Big League roster, but the investments in the DR Academy and the AZ Complex has paid off many times more than the initial ~120-150M dollar investment we made. Hell, what would it take to sign Jackson Chourio right now to a 10 year extension? Another 80-100M pretty easily.

Yeah, but correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Quintana and Made were like 25 and 26 at one point in the rankings and then moved up significantly? Chourio was ~20th IIRC. But even there, didn't they move up later in the process? I thought earlier on, they were both in the mid 20s. I don't think Quintana was 12th when we were first tied to him or even Made was 22nd. Or perhaps I'm mis-remembering or thinking of a different ranking, but I thought they ended up higher in the final ranking.

Yeah, 4 HRs in a two week span have changed his...rate. His K rate is down, walk rate is up. Are you feeling confident He's going to be 1 of...what, 50 players all time who've actually done it though? I would be thrilled. I'd be thrilled to see him do it...I'm still skeptical about the likelihood, but it'd be great. For now, I'll just be happy to see him in the lineup everyday vs RHPers and staying healthy. His defense and speed, OB skills have been huge. If he can take that next leap...like I said, that makes him another MVP caliber player. 30/30 with his defense in CF? You'd be set.

They can...BUT, I think they need Love and he's gotta look much-much better than he did week 1. It wasn't a huge deal, just early-season rust, but he'll be coming back vs a defense that plays aggressively and in your face and...and forces quick decisions. I think Love is near lock to play this week. Just being an MCL, there's not a big risk to make that injury worse from what I understand. We need Love back there getting the ball out early, Jacobs and Wilson throwing body shots, Watson getting behind the defense, but maybe most importantly, Wicks, Reed, Doubs, guys who can win right off the LOS getting the ball. I THINK Musgraves will be more in the game plan, but we'll see. If not, then there's more going on there. Kraft is banged up from playing as a lead blocker(plus he just plays physically). Big-BIG test for the run defense. Two really good OTs, big physical OGs a pretty good Center and then Aaron Jones. Who...has a point to prove. The Vikings very much appear to be a team that's better than the sum of their parts because of two really elite coaches. Florres running that defense and O'Connell the offense. Yeah, he's a stud. The Picks are obviously great, but he's so reliable and he's so good at coming down and playing in the box. Peter Bukowski made an observation about how he's like Za'Darius Smith, two under the radar FAs who took off with the Packers... Was he ever under any radar? He's been one of the best safeties in the league, he was the clear cut #1 guy after Winfield was tagged. I think we're going to open up the defense and offense a bit more. Need some quick hitters off the middle to the TEs to keep the LBs a second behind, on defense, need to get up on those WRs and help out with Jefferson to get Darnold feeling uncomfortable. With Darrisaw and O'Neil, the IDL has to win(Clark always beats the hell outta Bradbury), Wyatt and then...again, Cooper or maybe some backside slot blitzes. I feel like something LIKT that could be the difference in this game. Whichever QB gets the ball out the quickest with the free runners...as both teams will have some.

I was told the season was over! 2-1, one-possession game vs the Eagles in Brazil, you have Clark playing the worst Football of his career, Gary is playing...alright, but not dominant(I am pretty comfortable both will step up), Cooper reminds me of Clay Matthews in that they're holding him back the first quarter of the season, but he's going to make a big impact... In fact, with Clay, it was a HUGE week 4 game vs the Vikings where they kinda took the reigns off a bit and he came through with a huge play or 3. Just sayin'... week 4 could be a breakout for Eddgerin Cooper. He can really complement this defense. I was actually thinking...outloud to some friends watching the game, what would you give up for him? Just hypothetically, Dallas is out of it. 3rd? 2nd? 1st would be too much I think, but that dude is incredible. Also kicks mostly in a dome or good weather, but he is SO good.

With respect Joseph, I'm not sure you're the guy to talk about people standing up for players too much! Also, when did this become a Walker vs Clark conversation? Because I said it was Clark who was at fault on that particular play? Clark has been regressing, but I've also got confidence he'll thrive in this scheme...just as Quay will. If you want Quay Walker blowing up Ryan Kelly...in space, then making a tackle on Jonathan Taylor in the open field, Ray Lewis and Ray Nitchke's hybrid offspring will disappoint! And no, there's no shot that Eric Wilson is playing more than Quay at MLB or elsewhere irrespective of draft slot. He had a pick and a high grade on 7 snaps. He's a very nice backup. We're two weeks in and aside from the usual suspects who declare the season over before it begins like Sixto or whoever, maybe give this team and Quay a bit more time in the system before we crucify him. That pick may have been Xavier McKinney...but that's a LB, Quay Walker running with De'Vonta Smith step for step 30 yards down the field forcing that throw. That are a handful of LBers in the league who are making that play...and they sure as hell aren't Eric Wilson, McDuffie...Cooper may be one of them(though I think he's better around the LOS, but we'll see). Quay's main responsibilities have been spying Hurts, Richardson, dropping into coverage and then playing the run...the last is a given. But I know Herman's grading system. If he spys Richardson and does nothing else on the play, he's done his job...and he's gotten at best a neutral or worse grade. Let's check back here at the end of the season and see what Walker and Cooper have done....and for that matter, Musgraves as...I feel pretty confident whatever his early season struggles, he'll once again easily surpass the sum of Jeff Janis' entire playing career in 8-9 games once again this year...though, Kraft has been a much better matchup and clearly taken his game up a notch. This has to be the most negative Packers threads, particularly for a team that lost a 1 score game vs a top 3 team in the NFC and then won with Malik Willis(who...again, was already written off) that I've seen in years.

Walker hasn't been good this year, but the picking and choosing...particularly picking plays in which a PB center gets a free release to the 2nd level and Walker, who should be playing WLB in a one-gap is now being criticized for not playing 2 gaps and making the tackle is...just silly. He was the LBer who carried the 4.3 De'Vonta Smith 30+ yards down the field vs Philly and forced the pick by being in perfect position. Did the same vs the Titans and then was the one pressuring Richardson on the other INT that game. Comparing his snaps to Wilson's 7, is...silly. Look at that list. Gary, Clark and then Van Ness(who I believe had a 72 grade last week, so those aren't PFF grades, but they're two weeks all the same). Football is a pretty simple sport. You're reliant on particular positions. WR is particularly reliant on QB. QB is reliant on OL and WR. LB is as reliant on the DL as any position, so to the original point, using a play in which Ryan Kelly gets to the 2nd level, untouched because Kenny Clark jumps inside and is now responsible for TWO Gaps(in a one-gap scheme) is...just silly. Clark was responsible for the A Gap there. He gambled or...actually it looks like they were slanting and he just slanted the wrong way. In any event, you have to keep the LBers clean. Walker CANNOT overrun plays and needs to play with more...focused aggression but this scattershot analysis citing PFF and then using other grades is silly. When the DL does its job, Quay is a difference-maker. When the DL vacates their gaps...well, he's not. Look at the play at ~4:20. Similar play, DT does his job, Quay fires and it's a TFL. Same a couple plays later with Jacobs, now of the Packers. DL does his job... (Copyright on the video, Quay Walker 2023 highlghts). While we're using PFF grades through 2 games. Quay Walker-52.0 as a rookie, 60.0 yr 2, and BETTER than either Smith or Queen this year at 47.8(not that it's a sparkling number, but it's TWO games in). Roquan Smith-52.4 yr 2, 47.1 This year Patrick Queen-29.7 as a rookie, 38.4 This year (Then again, if you're looking at grades for a LB, you'd miss out on how impressive Payton Wilson has been this year in his PT). Certainly better than A to Z Sports... Not worth writing home about...but maybe a reminder of the uselessness of grading off 2 games just for starters, but if we're going to appeal to authority(and that "authority" being fans who never played Football...and well as PFF, not sure it supports Quay being quite as bad as some or portraying him.

I agree with the last sentence in particular and I'd love to see either of those players in Milwaukee...though how the hell do you miss virtually the whole season with an abductor strain(that is what Moncada had, right)... I just don't know that the Brewers are going to go out and be willing to out-bid teams for Moncada. Suarez, I'd love to have him. That will be interesting to see if they do move Perdomo to 3rd or keep him at SS and play Lawler at 3B. I'm just assuming it's more in line with where they've been in the past and I see the Yankees or a team like that signing Moncada. It'd be great...but I still think we're going to be a really good team either way. You're basically swapping Adames for Yelich, hoping he's healthy and maybe the back injuries are gone. If we can add another weapon at 3rd, even better.
