I'm still not in favor of bringing up Misiorowski this year...but IF you're going to limit him to 2-3 innings every few days, I could be convinced. Not as a full-fledged starter. I think he needs more time. This is a guy with a massive ceiling and I don't want to rush him at all, so I'm a bit torn. I would be good with targeting Skubal, but that's gonna hurt. Quero, Black, Pratt and then another prospect like a Lara. I'd HOPE we could replace Pratt with someone else. Bitonti? I don't know, I love both, but Skubal is a legit ace and he fits the Brewers so perfectly. When they do hit the ball, it's on the ground. See if they can swing that, then put a 5/110 deal in front of him? You then have him for 5 years instead of 2. He's the only guy I'd go and give up a crazy haul of prospects for.

You can't fluke your way into 11 games of play like Love had. Even the game vs SF, he was pretty impressive IMO. Terrible pick at the end, but...first year starting. He showed everything he needed to and as was pointed out, it ain't his fault he didn't start more than a year...and halfway into last year, I remember people saying, "you can't judge him with this group of players around him." They were NOT the same players until the OL, WR/TE group got on the same page and then we got an effective run game going. But when we did, you saw him make throws VERY few players in the NFL can make.

They could have the years, GTD money, the SB, all that figure out and there could still be a dozen things to argue over. I'd think one absolute, definitive non-starter would be not being able to tag him at the end of this contract(or a No-Trade). I thought there was just a big extension where this was a sticking point. Jefferson maybe? Anyway, confident they'll get it done and that won't be part of it.

What a failure that'd be on the Bucks player development staff. Drump a 1st rd pick who's actually performed in the limited chances he's had over 2 years and 4 coaches, two of whom notoriously don't like playing young kids... He can defend, he can shoot the 3 and he's cheap. Unless someone sees more value in him and are willing to give something up to get him...that'd be an embarrassing move.

No, almost certainly not...and that's a very team-friendly deal. I was good going into this year without an extension as I thought he'd get a 28M AAV-type deal, but this is a good contract. Now, Love...5/280...I'm guessing.

Quality starts is a silly metric. His 5 2/3rds of 3 hit 1ER and 11Ks vs the Cubs is the "hasn't been good" category. 5 1/3 vs TB with 1H, 2ER 7Ks is also in the 'not good,' category,..5IP 2 ER...in another.... 3.69 FIP, BABIP ~30 points higher than his career numbers. 3.47 xFIP... Yeah, I don't count that as a disappointment for a guy who's been reliable and taken the ball every 5 days. I think there were some unrealistic expectations he'd slide in for Burnes when that just wasn't going to happen...but hey, that's my opinion.

I'm not entirely sure what this means. A breakout 2nd year player who provides a lot of value without putting up big numbers? Or just a guy who was alright as a rookie and good his 2nd year? Yeah, I've been excited about the players, but I have really liked the scheme since Capers was here. I've also not really been a 4-3 fan, I liked the 3-4 more, but I just think we've been drafting 4-3 players and it'll just free guys up so much. I was and am a big Morgan fan. I liked Guyton a bit more, but that's moot now. Getting slapped around by Gary is probably something any rookie OT would have to deal with(maybe not Alt). I'm not even sure what we're rooting for here. Rooting for him to beat out Walker? Rooting for Walker to take another step and hold onto the job and then Morgan can get by early while he gets his feet under him at RG? That's probably the best case.

Yeah...this is a good point. I put off having kids until I knew I could afford their College funds, pay my house off, all that type of stuff...and now, I'm good. I put a good chunk into my nephew's 529 and started a fund for them, they come over and I enjoy them, but unless I get some ultimatum, I'll be fine not having kids. It seemed unachievable in my 20s. My 30s were about really setting myself up and...well, I could have made it work, but it did feel like an obligation.

I think putting Peralta in there is a bit unfair. He's had a couple poor outings, usually undone later in the game and with the HR ball, but he's got a...what, ~3.6 xFIP, 3.7 FIP. He's been pretty damn good, he's got 100IP...he's not a true ace, he's just a really good 2/3. Just because we lost Burnes or Woody, I think it was a bit unfair to expect Freddy to step in and be a true ace. He's done about what you'd hope. At least IMO.

It does not. He's coming off TJ surgery. He wasn't expected to have a significant impact as a rookie. He still got, IIRC, the 5th highest signing bonus of that class and has a high ceiling. 11 ours coming off a TJ doesn't tell me really anything other than...he's back and pitching. And sure, it's hard to get a prep arm to the big leagues. That's...a given. It's also where you often get the largest rewards. I'd guess most of the aces in MLB were drafted/signed at 18/16 and the College arms are most often top draft picks.

Yeah...but kids make mistakes. It's not like you watched a 1st rd pick JUST prior to you coming into the league absolutely set his career...-and far more importantly, and innocent woman on fire by driving like an entitled *******. I would go 8 game suspension at this point. 140 in a 55(I actually thought 35, but my memory is probably bad) and now he's drinking and driving and not just drinking and driving...which is obviously inadvisable, even if you are at the legal limit, bur rather, getting black out drunk and driving. Speaking as a former selfish ******* who sped(a lot) while driving...and who drove him one time too many, you either get lucky and grow up, or something...just horrible happens to wake you up. For me, it was a beautiful young woman I knew who was hit by a drunk driver over spring break and died. Just left at the semester, and never saw her again. Not a GF, but...someone I was close with and had her whole life in front of her. I try not to get up on the soap box too much here with righteous indignation, but I feel this is warranted. While this has nothing to do with Wisconsin, WE need to make the penalties for DUIs far more severe, particularly after the 1st, and the NFL needs to do the same. The NFL needs to do likewise. We've had 4 NFL players...that I know of, kill people while under the influence. Dante Stallworth, Leonard Little, Josh Brent and Ruggs. -Stallwaorth I think was a bit of an outlier and some discrction was used in his case. -Little...seemingly just glossed right over the fact that he killed someone with a .19 BAC and then received another. Dick Vermeil upon hearing about the DUI said he'd have "no problem," playing him...and then Mike Martz later effectively said they'd deal with the issue "in house," which is code for...he's good. After a Clay Matthews-esque career(production-wise) he still seems to have somehow scathed by largely unscathed. Josh Brent-I don't even know much about this other than he killed a teammate drunk, was later arrested and fought with police...I vaguely remember it turning into some "feel good" story when the Mother of the teammate forgave him and he returned to play for one game a couple of years later...but if it was Tyron Smith, I suspect his career wouldn't have suffered nearly as much. So when's the next deadly crash? Is the NFL just going to sit back while guys drive 150 playing real-life GTA or maybe they'll do something about it so that they can address it without having to hear the screams of an innocent 23-year-old burning to death to actually bring the case to the public forefront and and really, even then, just let the legal system handle it.

I don't know anymore than what I just saw...and yes! Same here. They're dynamic and...just give me all the prep arms you can who can throw mid 90s(you know they're going to add strength, fill out) and who can spin it like these guys can. The only thing I didn't like about last years draft was we lost Chambers too early(still a little miffed we had to give up such a highly regarded prospect for a player who was being DFA'ed but...impossible to argue with the results). It's time people talk about the Brewers front office in the same breath they talk about the Rays, Guardians and...yes, despite the massive payroll, the Dodgers is outstanding as well. The Padres may be the NL version of the Os, but they've been far too impatient, but I digress. We're well run. And if our first rd pick who's drawn FAR too much consternation for vaguely resembling Corey Ray who didn't make an impact, doesn't pan out, I like that we went after several high quality young arms.

The one thing that just really excites me is the personnel with the new defensive scheme. We've got incredible athletes, so getting up field vs the read and react for a DL is going to be fun. Van Ness will benefit from this a lot. Wyatt is still the guy I think is likely to have the biggest breakout year. With regard to Morgan...I have no clue what they're going to do there. Andy Herman seems to think it's a long shot they ask him to both move positions and sides, but it's hard to envision them going with Rhyan if he struggles in pass pro as much as he has. That's just too much of a liability. So something has to give. And Stokes...what a boost that'd be for the defense if he could come back and play at a high level. They're cross-training Bullard at slot and safety, King I thought had been doing the same, but I could be wrong. But I feel pretty confident about Valentine as the #3 if Stokes does beat him out. Little concerned about the depth, but hopefully they'll be alright on that front.

Yeah, I don't know that's true at all. We'll see how the season goes, but I know stating definitively on July 18th that he won't get any playing time is just a bit premature. And you know players develop in the off-season, in practice, in a myriad of ways even if he's not getting early season PT...though I suspect with Dame, K-Midd, then the litany of other players who will inevitably miss time due to injury. You don't see how the Bucks don't trade Marjon? I don't see why they would. He's 23, shot 40% from 3, can defend...it'd be foolish to give up on him. He played for 4 different coaches, 3 last year, was banged up down the stretch. And again, what are they getting from him? How'd it go from trading Connaughton or Beauchamp to not being able to envision a scenario in which they simply DON'T trade a particular player? "So the Bucks have already given up on Marjon," based on...your previous assumptions. Maybe they have. I don't know. It'd seem pretty foolish to move on from a young player this quickly.

I'm aware. I was just responding to the conversation. I'm just saying it's a lazy comp...I know you didn't make it, the people complaining about it did.

I think we're better off, at this point, just keeping both and hoping Connaughton can get back to being a really key contributor off the bench. I don't know who really wants him at this point...he doesn't have much value, but he's another tough, physical glue guy type. And he can be traded next year or in-season. And I hope they don't give up on Marjon. Trent is likely just a one-year 'solution.'

Wow...really good off-season for the Bucks. Now you hope Dame comes back in shape with a year playing with these guys under his belt, Giannis does...what Giannis does, Middleton, hopefully plays ~60 games, but can duplicate his post-season level of play...and I think this team has a chance. One year to see what we can do with a couple of nice defenders added and now a guy who's capable of giving you 20 on a given night, but also a younger...really solid SG. More length on defense and I really hope we get to see AJJ and Beauchamp on the court. Two guys who are very good defenders, Marjon plays hard and I think he's going to take off with another team(as in a ~10/5/3 player who defends and can make those corner threes). AJJ is the consummate glue guy. I don't know if the Bucks make a trade. They'll be able to get below that 2nd apron next year now and run it back and see how they can compete with hopefully a healthy roster. 3 really good veteran additions and then two draft picks who...in light of the FA signings, I feel much better about(though I'd have liked a big).

Oof...this is gonna be brutal(but also good). I'm REALLY hoping it's 5 years at least ADDED to this year. But I'm gonna guess it's at least 5 years 280 in new money, 235 GTD against injury and 180 fully GTD or GTD against performance. Basically...dude's gonna be the top paid QB. Probably for a very short period of time, but for a while... Now...just REALLY hope the NFL can figure out how to work around another massive loss of cashflow, just like Covid with the the 4.7B judgement which could end up as high as 14B. I hope that doesn't impact the future cap as they should juust be getting clear of the Covid ramifications right now, but could keep the cap suppressed for a few more years(though the appeals process will last a while). Anyway, glad to have Love if this is true.

Looks like was 5th, but there were some...pretty damn good players on that team(Willy Smith, the kid that TB took in the top 5 was 4th)...and I thought Ray had a big year with Team USA? In any event, I don't get why we're going to Ray to begin with. He's a former athletic black OFer we drafted? It feels as surface level as that. And I'm not suggesting it's unique to black players, it just seems like if we draft a player we don't hit on, people reach to make comps for future picks they don't like. I'm guessing a small school SS with athleticism(which...every MIFer in the 1st will have) wouldn't be a popular pick in a year from now if Eric Brown Jr is struggling. Unless you've really watched this kid play...and I'm guessing there are but a few on the board who knew much about him going in, then it's just a really superficial comp using someone's scouting report...but clearly not the Brewers.

LOL...the 'I'm an independent thinker,' line is...really quite often just the opposite. What is your opinion based off that the Players they drafted were even overdrafted to begin with? Your extensive scouting(perhaps you spend hours pouring over tape and going to games, please correct me if I've got this wrong)...but you're really just going off the "consensus" rankings, right? The wildly inconsistent ones with regard to the MLB draft given the unique combination of players at different stages of their careers? HS, Juco, 4Yr Colleges, etc... So are you open to the idea that...maybe the Brewers have been doing better? That they've built this farm system up without any top 5-10 picks? That the reason you don't like the players...ironically enough, is the "groupthink" you're above that has these players ranked lower? Just...curious.

This is a reply to a comment in which there's NOTHING in there about Miller(although, he's literally the topic of the thread)...so strange reply all the way around. So again, you can squeeze both replies into the same post(particularly if they're both replies to the same post). I'm just asking what your rationale is. They need to win now because they've been lying to us, but now it's trade Adames...so yeah, sorry if I find your messages a bit conflicting and confusing.

Adamczewski and no, I just...started typing the name and then started thinking about Baez, Areinamo, Eru, Di Turi, Quinanta, Guilarte, Made, both Pena's they signed...and kinda trailed off. I don't know how SS is a "gap." We've got...a ton of SS prospects in this system in AA and below(and most of the players listed above.) Plus, we have two guys who have 5-6 years of team control left who are playing at a high level on the ML level in Turang and Ortiz. The strength of our system is clearly SS/2B. We're incredibly deep there. Power bats? Not only does that normally come later when talking about LA, or just young players in general. Both our A teams were the youngest teams in the league, but Wilken, again, Pratt(two for one), Bitonti, Adams(as in Luke). Wes Clarke has big power, Jose Anderson, 17 year old has good power, we also have a 20 year old on the Brewers who should be around for another 10 years. Yophery is a guy I think weill develop more power. Power usually develops later, but...we've got a ton of bats. No team has great depth at catching, but that's actually a position we addressed today(and yesterday a power bat at 1B). You need 1 player at each position to start and then a couple more for depth. You need 13-4 pitchers. But if there's any area of the Brewers player development that looks extremely deep right now...it's SS.

I could go position by position, but...we've got a ton of bats. 3B/1B Wilken, Boeve, Adams, Bitonti SS-Pratt, Brown Jr, Adam, Guillarte I'm not going to actually go position by position as it's just...gonna be a lot, but I am curious where you feel we're lacking that you'd prefer to go after bats?

...Yeah, I mean, if I said something so objectively false, it'd be hard to argue otherwise. If said Yelich is hitting .200, then...I'd admit I was wrong. You've been doing a "just trust me," thing lately and then when I ask for any type of example, it's "you're not going to listen anyway." Sometimes it's just really hard to understand what or why you're arguing. I say(as I've been saying for 4 years) I think Turang is "Turner-ish." You make a couple of post saying Turang....who's already bigger, will never have the frame to hit for as much power(this after I clarified and did mean he'd literally be the exact same player). You say the Brewers "owe" it to the fanbase after "gaslighting" us for years(not an example of it) and you're alright with them trading arguably the most important clubhouse guy and an elite SS. I just don't really understand where you're coming from most of the time.

Sure. Lots of money helps. They have the #2 rated farm system and they're able to plug in for injury after injury, year after year. So that plays a pretty big role as well. They're trying to win a WS RIGHT NOW. SS/IF is arguably their biggest weakness. Now...I don't think they'd make that trade, but I certainly would think that if I didn't think Miller was an elite arm. I think that'd be a pretty reasonable trade or starting point at the very least with a little bit in addition offered to Adames.
