  1. I'd happily take Winker in a hypothetical as another good LHed bat off the bench. It's not a great fit as Hoskins isn't a great defensive 1B so you need Bauers vs RHers, but he's back to hitting well and...he's a valuable player. 2.2 WAR as a DH? I kept thinking he was too good of a hitter to keep struggling last year...I was wrong. But, he was coming off the neck surgery. A guy who can give you good ABs and get on base, is patient. Not the worst guy to have on your bench. Not a great fit(hence the IF he could play 1B well). If it wasn't for the awful version of him we saw last year, I doubt there'd be much resistance. Really hope Wilken can tap into his power enough as he seems like the ideal candidate to fill 1B in the future if he doesn't stick at 3rd. Or even if he can stick at 3B, it appears we may have others coming up not too long after him who may be able to be better 3B and push him to 1B.
  2. Yes, they saw Weeks with the Glove, and speculated that Frelick would play 3rd(I believe that was because there was a lefty up). Then they put Frelick behind 2B, they were surprised. They then commented on how they've gotta move the OFers, at least have them play in the LF-CF and CF-RF gaps...but BA(I think it was BA, whoever the Play by Play was) said he's got pull side splits on the ground, opposite in the air. I didn't hear them really say much about both coaches coming out though. But...that was why. Murph probably told Rickie to grab Frelick's IF glove as he headed out, Weeks was a little behind, just there to deliver it. I can't remember it happening before...but I really didn't think much about this occasion. I'd have to remember back to when they brought Braun in to play IF(that's the last player I can recall them doing this with, though IDK if that's the last time they actually did this.
  3. I'm just looking at all the bigs. If we're going to move one...we're going to need at least a body. Wiseman would have been perfect IMO. I'd guess we'd have been interested in a guy like Paul Reed. Robert Williams would be...damn near a perfect fit...but he'd also have a huge contract if he could stay healthy. Charles Bassey, the big man who was cut by the Spurs for roster purposes...he's an interesting big...though SA seems interested in bringing him back. Paul Reed. I'd make him a priority. Then you've got more freedom.
  4. I'd really fight to not give up both Pratt and Bitonti. If you give up Black and Miz, those are two top 35 prospects. Both have warts, but still...that's a lot. I think you have to give up Pratt, but I'd try and make it Wilken+ another good younger prospect. Normally, two top 35 prospects and then two more of the top ~15-18 in your organization would likely get it done. Maybe Frelick and Wilken? It just feels like those two top prospects have bigger question marks than most. I'm going to guess Detroit holds onto him unless they're overwhelmed though, so...you're probably close to the mark.
  5. So the Hornets released Davis Bertrans. 6'10...can shoot. He's not going to be confused with Bam, but he's fairly mobile. Unless there are players I'm missing, the pickings are awfully slim for Big Men. If Portis or Lopez is going to be traded...Bucks should be in on him, right? Particularly at the minimum (which is all they can offer anyway).
  6. At this point, the Tigers decide there is a tax on the Brewers ridiculously offering one decent and legitimate young prospect, two guys who...could very well be DFAed this off-season(I don't think Perkins will be, but...it's not hard to envision and Bauers is as likely as not). I would hate this trade...and then love it. I'd guess you'd be looking at Mis, Black and Pratt as just a pretty core three. I think that'd be a fair ask. That's a LOT to give up. You'd just have to come to terms with it if you're the Brewers, but that's reasonable...IMO. Misiorowski has the best arm arguably outside of Skenes, but he's a loong way from being a true ace. Black is a really good hitter. I think he's got a high floor, but not sure he'll hit quite enough with his limited defensive value(LF is his best position most likely, maybe 1B, we'll see). And Pratt would be arguably the crown Jewel. I think he's got massive upside. So that'd be the fight. Keeping Pratt. But this dude is so dominant and when he's not striking people out, they're hitting the ball to our 3 SS's in the IF. Just a perfect match. Now you move to next year, Woody comes back, maybe he's 85% what he was, still a GREAT #3. Gasser, Logan Henderson, maybe Miley...probably not, but potentially. Peralta, we still have the young core. I'm a major prospect hoarder, but if there's a player to make this deal for...that's it.
  7. Yeah, but he'd be able to defend and switch a lot easier out of the gate and that's a bigger hole. I like Kolek...but I didn't think he was a very good on ball defender vs elite quicker ball handlers, but I could be wrong on that. I think both are the types who are going to have a bigger impact than their box scores may suggest.
  8. Who'd you have preferred for the Bucks? Kolek or Ighodaro? I thought both would be in the mix for each pick as they're both NBA-ready, but...Ighodaro seems like exactly what they need. A big who's mobile, can defend, a smart player. I'd feel much better trading Lopez is we have just a physical 4 who can move and defend. Or at least just one who can give you minutes so you're not relying on Giannis, Portis and then...Gallinari. Oh well...they said they were taking a big swing. Still, swinging for the fences and then just trying to hit a single would have been nice as well!
  9. Some people just hate trading good, talented young prospects irrespective of the depth at a certain position because it's such a dart throw picking out who among them will be good. Who hits and becomes a stud. I hate it....you get attached to your own prospects, no matter how much it makes sense to trade from a position of strength. Some trades I'd REALLY despise. Cooper Pratt of Bitonti would be much worse, but this is the point of building a farm system. To improve the MLB team.
  10. Yeah, he's looked really good...but who had him as a contributor coming into the season? The Brewers have shown they're pretty adept at finding BP arms and they've got more than a couple who should be ready by next year(or sooner). Both Henderson and Misiorowski would likely excel as relievers in a less-than-best-case scenario(even right now, though you obviously want both as starters).
  11. I'm not going to think about a rental for Bitonti.... And why is that deal not happening? I'd assume you'd mean the Jays wouldn't do it...but you were against Mitchell for Scherzer, so...I'm not sure which side you're saying says no.
  12. That said...yes. I'm also glad he assuaged my concerns over the Holby Milner-Josh Hader comparisons! I was really worried people may not recognize the difference. I'm also now confused about what a "substantial" return looks like if Blake Perkins is going to net one.
  13. What's that look like to you? Black+Carlos Rodriguez for Gausman, Nate Pearson+24M? They eat half the money remaining? The feels kinda light. They don't have to add Henderson to the 40 for another year...right? I could see him coming up and being effective for 2-3 innings, but you could say the same for Mis and I'd guess they don't want to push either. But hey...Daniel Norris is available...
  14. I played HS FB with a guy who had type 1 and he went on to be a really good College FB player. Big physical TE. It was D3...but that's still brutal. I know he got invited to some regional combines, but I don't think he was really pursuing it. Maybe this is why. Newfound respect for a guy I already had a lot of respect for.
  15. I'm not taking BR real seriously. They're just taking the 3 only tradable players with decent salaries and making a guess. They've also had articles talking about Smart coming to Milwaukee(he'd be a great fit) and others who...just aren't coming. But, again, if they trade Lopez, who's the 5? You can't make Giannis play Center all the time and you need to actually get better. James Wiseman, that would have made sense. There's just not much out there that can help us. The trade proposal Jalen Duren was in...that'd work. I really can't see why Detroit would do that, but I don't think they make a big move at this point. I do like the moves they have made. I hope they bring Pat Bev back and I think they just need to play AJJ and hopefully Beauchamp forces his way to some minutes. I could see Connaughton dumped, but I don't know what's going with him.
  16. Benge looks and sounds a bit like Yelich. That swing, the high exit velo, low chase rate, but high GB%... I'm all for the high upside pitcher though. Roll the dice, take a guy like Brecht or Schmidt. Lower hit rate, but just that type of raw talent, velo and spin rates...I trust the Brewers ability to develop. I'm a bit envious of the Pirates 1-2 combo of Skenes and Jones. Adding another arm with TOR type upside with the slew of arms we've got, that'd be my preference.
  17. I think Black will be up and down, but with regard to Hoskins, I'm not worried. He's been having really good ABs and he's going to break out of this. And it's not like he's been just a black hole. I'd prefer to see him as the DH...or if he does play 1B, then I'd rather see Yelly DH when Contreras doens't.
  18. Murphy very clearly said we'd be "shocked" when we saw their plan for Frelick. Now since then Ortiz has blossomed, Mitchell has gotten hurt, Wiemer has continued to struggle and he's been needed in the OF, but it's easy to say NOW there was "not a chance" he was going to play there, but when the Manager says the exact opposite, I tend to believe him. I think Black will be more than adequate at 1B. He's a better athlete than Hoskins and he hasn't played much 1st. Will he play 2B/3B regularly? I guess that'll depend on the team as a whole, how good of a hitter he is, but 1B seems to be obvious spot for him. I hope it's not OF. We've got plenty of OF depth. I do hope Wilken or Boeve can handle 3B and I really hope Pratt can force Wilken to 1B a year or two later.
  19. Or....counter point, you wait until he's got 1000 PAs and he doesn't have the value. You're not just developing these players to contribute for the Brewers, you're acquiring and developing these players to help the team in any way. I hated trading Justin Chambers for a guy the Dodgers didn't want on the 40 Man...but that turned out alright. I do not like that at all. Bitonti's upside is so much higher. Boeve is a really good hitter, but where defensively and he's limited offensively. Not much power, not great speed. Really good hitter, but the ceiling is the difference here. If Myers is slotting in as the Ace of a rotation...it's not a great rotation. He's performing well, but you should want him to be your 4th best, maybe 3rd best pitcher in the future. I get he pitched out of his mind in June, but...an ace?
  20. Yeah, I guess that'd be reasonable...but you really have to have things lined up and believe you can win, otherwise you'll be going...6-7 years without your 1st and it's just gonna be a REALLY dark period in Bucks Basketball. Who are you going to sign? Isaac Okoro? I haven't seen if he signed, but that'd be one. Miles Bridges is pretty much the exact player we need...but not the person. I'd have felt better about signing Wiseman and then dealing Lopez and getting what you can, but I guess I'd probably do this. Just make it a protected first. 1-8. Lopez can still help a lot of teams out. I'd guess he'd end up backing up Embiid in Philly given how things tend to go.
  21. Never gonna replace the ICE's https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2024/07/01/forget-the-soundbites-heres-whats-really-up-with-all-the-ev-delays/74215936007/
  22. There has to be some type of plan. They can't just go with Giannis and Portis as their Centers. Both are PFs and...it's not that easy to find a Center who can take the physical pounding Brook can. Portis would make the most sense, but if they didn't get anything done by the draft, I'm skeptical they will now.
  23. Bando ran out Molitor...very deliberately. It was also the transition from a good owner(Bud) to him becoming the interim commissioner and then the very dark "Selig-Prieb," years.
  24. I know the notion that they're as disposable and regularly replaceable as Iphones is absolutely ridiculous. I definitely needed you to teach me about planned obsolescence. But to be clear, this is something that is GOING to be happening, not something that's currently happening and hasn't been happening for decades with cars with the internal combustible engine, but will be exclusively used for EVs? You might want to do some research without such an obvious bias against EVs. What you have is the potential for planned obsolescence with one type, but it's actually been enacted in the others. Yup, not arrogant, just the truth! LOL....
