  1. I have a hard time believing that is authentic, but it's still awesome regardless.
  2. The answer to the OP's question is a resounding "NO!", and there really can't be any legitimate debate on it. Selling now would be suicide for this franchise in terms of business and in terms of fan perception. We have an excellent chance to see the Brewers win an NL Central Title, which would be a franchise first. Yes, I'd love to be able to say, "This team will go the World Series!" today on July 18th, but that is just asking too much. That doesn't mean you sell off now, though.
  3. Is Carroll too much to expect at this point? He seems like he would be a very solid fit for this team, and makes a relatively low salary. I wouldn't think it would take much to get him. Seems like this idea might make too much sense to happen for whatever reason.
  4. 1. Yuniesky Betancourt. I don't think there's any single player I have ever despised watching more than him. He makes routine grounders an adventure, and he has one of the worst swings I've ever seen. He might be my least favorite Brewer of all time, if not for Gary Sheffield's existence. . . . 2. Casey McGehee. I hate to say it, but he has been atrocious this year, and his swing has changed. Just don't like watching him anymore, and it's hard to admit because I've cheered so much for him in the past.
  5. After all the doom and gloom after the first two games of this series, it's nice to see the Brewers walk out of Colorado with a split.
  6. Weeks shouldn't be as low as he is. We shouldn't stack 3 lefties. I disagree. I don't like stacking three lefties either, but the five hole has been a problem all year. I actually like Hart in leadoff and Weeks batting fifth, for now.
  7. I suppose that is a point. I never claimed Kotsay was very good defensively. I get your argument that Gomez is much superior on D, but Kotsay is about the only decent option to bat 3rd today with Braun out and how Roenicke has re-structured the lineup.
  8. Bingo. I didn't get to watch the whole game last night, but Greinke looked pretty good to me. I think he's slowly getting better this season.
  9. Hard to rip Roenicke too much. Braun apparently isn't avaiable today. Lucroy probably needed a day off. Hart in the leadoff spot and Weeks fifth seemed to work. Who else was going to bat third? I know everyone on this board vehemently hates Kotsay, but he has been fine. I don't see what's so offensive about him batting third given lack of alternatives. Personally, I love that Wilson is getting a second start in a row. He's earned it, while Betancourt has earned permanent pine riding status.
  10. Assuming Melvin still refuses to call up Green until September, I guess this is about as good a 3B upgrade as you can hope for. I assume it wouldn't take a ton to get him. His career .336 OBP would be a nice upgrade over McGehee right now.
  11. I don't know, but if I was the principle owner and half my infield was this terrible, I would be fairly incensed.
  12. Reportedly worth $7-8 million per year. Also includes limited no trade protection, reportedly, so we can probably scrap any thoughts of Melvin trading for him at this point.
  13. OK, this is just ridiculous. I know people are angry after losing two games to the Rockies in Colorado, but come on. We are a half game out of first place. I will still take our chances of winning the division over either the Cardinals or the Pirates. We have very good pitching that they simply don't.
  14. The problem is he often waits way too long to abandon these lost causes, or otherwise correct glaring shortcomings on the MLB roster.
  15. Well, there's that big Counsell bobblehead day coming up, you know...
  16. I've never heard of Nicasio. I hope the Brewers' lineup roughs him up.
  17. It's because Doug Melvin is holding his son (late round draft pick) hostage.
  18. Yeah, it's nice that Roenicke can use either option now without worrying about contract obligations.
  19. This is confusing. Ken Rosenthal: Sources: K-Rod has agreed to waive $17.5M vesting option in exchange for additional compensation. Will be FA at end of season. Edit: Sounds like thinking is that Brewers can now use Rodriguez in closer role if they want without option vest.
  20. Buster Olney saying that Baltimore and JJ Hardy making progress on a three year contract. Sounds like Hardy is becoming less and less of a realistic trade target at this point.
  21. That theory doesn't seem to take into account human decision making.
  22. This. Are you listening, Doug Melvin?
  23. Actually, I think good hitters use the entire field.
  24. He's kind of expensive. $6 million total salary this year. Not sure how that would work since we'll probably need some money to upgrade SS before the trade deadline. Don't see how he'd fit on the roster, really.
  25. If Doug doesn't replace Yuni and Casey by July 31st... he shouldn't be our GM next year. This is pathetic I kind of agree with this part at this point. At least half of the equation is a no brainer at this point. I belive Melvin is actively looking for a SS upgrade, but that is easier said than done when it comes to trades in MLB.
