  1. Yeah, it sounds like the gravy is the poutine's Achilles heel.
  2. I don't like seeing guys get hurt, but I wouldn't be sad if this ended up being the end of Almonte's days as a Brewer. Just don't like seeing him play as he doesn't seem to bring anything to the table offensively or defensively. McGehee should be playing today, and Hart is now back. The team will be fine.
  3. My favorites were probably the Hart Foundation (Bret Hart, Owen Hart, British Bulldog, Jim Neidhart, Brian Pillman) and the Dangerous Alliance.
  4. I would prefer Furcal as well. Always have liked him.
  5. I think a lot of times the booing isn't really malicious. More like a razzing of sorts.
  6. The thing is, it's statistically easier to predict he won't lead any category than that he will. That's just the reality.
  7. I agree with this. It's obvious Betancourt doesn't have good range, just from watching him. Quite frankly, I don't know why teams have allowed him to man that position so long. You either can get to balls quickly, or you really can't. Additionally, he has made some very poor throws to Fielder (which are sometimes exacerbated by Fielder's limited reach). Occasionally he will make a spectacular play, but so will pretty much any player in the league at some point or another during a season. I think he could be an OK second baseman for some team (obviously not the Brewers). I don't know why he's been used to fill such a premium defensive position for so long.
  8. *sigh* Buster Olney is still perpetuating this garbage non-story: In the highest offices of a handful of other teams, there is heavy speculation that Brewers owner Mark Attanasio would be the most likely candidate to move from one team to the Dodgers. This can only happen, of course, if Major League Baseball maintains their hold on the club and if they decides to have an established owner take over the Dodgers. Such a scenario, Olney writes, would take months to play out.
  9. If I'm not mistaken, it's Greinke vs Suppan today. The Brewers' past meets the Brewers' future!
  10. MLB has been trying to reach out to inner city youths (ie. black kids) for quite a while. Not sure how effective their programs are, but at least it's something. The thing is you want to get these young athletes interested at a young age, or they naturally gravitate to basketball and football.
  11. I was wondering why he didn't stick with Axford. He had a nice quick inning, and was dead on with his pitches last night. This mentality that a closer can only work one inning is rather dumb.
  12. Yes, or he would have already signed the extension the Brewers were trying to get him to sign last year...or perhaps changed agents. Actions speak louder than words.
  13. I hope this doesn't turn into another Nyjer Morgan situation where he "can only pinch hit" for like a week, and then goes to the DL anyway.
  14. All I gathered from that article is Prince is basically saying, "Yeah, I'd stay here if Milwaukee can give me the best long term deal."
  15. Hall doesn't deserve to be booed, but I'm sure he will be. I think a lot of time booing a former Brewer is more reflexive than anything.
  16. There's supposed to be a new TV contract kicking in next year (I think). No idea on dollar figures or what impact it will have on payroll, though.
  17. Why don't you just plan on not being home during that part of the day? Then if they call you, just tell them, "Sorry, we had other plans, we're not home. Hope you guys have a good trip back home." Imposing relatives are the worst. You need to put a stop to this.
  18. I don't think Katin will ever get a call up with the Brewers (except in September). It just seems like they don't see him as a real option for the big league club, which is too bad I guess. I'd rather have him on the bench than Almonte, at least.
  19. Gallardo is already signed through 2015 (signed extension last season), so that shouldn't really be an impediment. His contract from Cot's: 11:$3.25M, 12:$5.5M, 13:$7.75M, 14:$11.25M, 15:$13M club option ($0.6M buyout)
  20. Kila K'ia-whatever better start hitting or Butler is going to be back at 1B anyway.
  21. I still hold out a glimmer of hope that they consider Corey Hart at 1B. That said, I would guess Mat Gamel is option A.
  22. I think we could get either of Greinke or Marcum on a 4-5 year extension, it really just depends on total dollars.
  23. Have to wonder what took so long with Morgan's situation. I like the Boggs call up though.
