  1. Well, as I understand, even some minor league teams charge admission for events like this, so I see no reason why the Brewers can't. They need to find as many revenue streams as they can. I know people hate when something that used to be free now costs money, but a lot of the same people complain when the Brewers don't sign anyone to a big contract. Can't have it both ways.
  2. I wouldn't call it "horrible", as I think it has a few funny moments, but it doesn't do much for me. Seems like it tries way too hard, and the characters are just really extreme caricatures.
  3. Yeah, the Wii is great. If you're not that into video games but want something fun you can sit down and play for maybe an hour or two at a time without learning a bunch of strategies, the Wii is fun. It's one of those things where most people can sit down and start playing right away...since if you can use a TV remote, you can pretty much use the Wiimote controller. Most of the multiplayer games are fun, and easy for a group of people to play without going over a bunch of rules, etc. On the downside, you'll spend a small fortune on the extra controllers, Wii nunchuck add-ons, etc. I don't know about educational games (don't have any kids myself), but I'm sure they are out there. If you go to a site like wii.ign.com, they pretty much have a rundown of all the games available under each category.
  4. I still like "The Simpsons", but it's no longer something I go out of my way to see, or even make sure to DVR. I think it's now at the point where the lame episodes far outweigh the few good ones each season. I'd like to see them do maybe one more season, focus on doing a bunch of really good episodes that kind of wrap up any loose ends (have Ned Flanders get remarried, maybe have Bart go into the 5th grade, have Homer either get fired permanently and find his real job, that kind of stuff), and call it a series. I mean, it's going to be in syndication forever, so it's not like the show will be going off air completely. Maybe they could do another couple Simpsons movies too, since I think most people enjoyed the first one. BTW, for the Futurama fans, the latest DVD movie is really funny.
  5. Lots of things...make a ton more donations to charities, buy another couple mansions, buy a couple yachts, set up even more of your friends and relatives to be well off, invest in a bunch of business ventures, etc. I get your point, Rillo, but $30 or 40 million is an enormous amount of money. Let's not act like it's just some small chunk of change.
  6. Well, a few years back the Rangers signed A-Rod to that huge contract, and you don't see similar contracts all over MLB. So I don't think your argument really holds water.
  7. Oh boy...I love CC as much as anyone and hope he somehow ends up a Brewer next season...but that could be financial suicide for the Brewers.
  8. I kind of agree with that. I personally wouldn't mind Mota coming back if better options aren't available, but it's hard to imagine that will be the case. You'd think Melvin could just find one of his patented "diamond in the rough" types and get similar results.
  9. Oh goodness...can we stop throwing around the phrase "low ball" already? I'm sure most players would love to get the kind of "low ball" offer the Yankees apparently gave Sabathia.
  10. Well, if CC is really going to reject the Yankees offer, it's already way out of the Brewers' stratosphere at this point. I don't see any reason why Melvin can't start making offers to other players at this point, rather than wait for the inevitable.
  11. I'd be fine with that. Dunn would look good in the lineup, and Braun can probably play RF just fine at this point. I'd hate to give up Hart, but assuming we could get a decent pitcher for him (RP or SP, either way), that would be tolerable.
  12. I actually didn't realize baseball had a "voluntary retired list." Makes sense, though.
  13. I don't know. The writing on the wall seems to be that he'll be a Yankee at this point. I still hold onto a glimmer of hope, but even if the Brewers do what fondy suggests and up their ante a bit, 30 million is still 30 million. Of course he's probably being pressured by the player's union, too. Edit: To add to that...you never know. Mark Attanasio seemed pretty enamored with CC. He may just say "Let's go all in" and match the Yankees offer. I kind of doubt it, but stranger things have happened in sports.
  14. They'll claim some backup catcher type on the 20th of November, or so.
  15. Abreu would be great, but I'm sure someone will throw a bunch of money at him. The Brewers won't be able to make him the best offer.
  16. paul, I looked, and unless I missed something in this thread, I have no idea who you're talking about. No need to be so cryptic.
  17. I don't know if that's totally fair. If you're going to criticize the manager when the team fails, you need to at least give some credit when they succeed. Yes, they got lucky with some really good young talent, but this wasn't a team with a high payroll like Boston or New York. In fact, given that Tampa plays in the AL East, it's even more of an accomplishment.
  18. How did Maddon not win unanimously? He took a 96 loss team and turned them into a 97 win team that made it all the way to the World Series in one year. Really no other manager in the AL should have even been considered.
  19. How are they going to explain Ryan still being employed, after committing fraud, now that Pam is back?
  20. Like I said earlier, junk like this keeps me from cancelling my XM subscription, even though the new XM/Sirius product is not much better at this point. At least you can get some real variety in music on there.
  21. 95.7 started playing Christmas music right after Halloween. November 1st I believe, they were already playing Christmas music. It's almost become a running gag in Milwaukee radio to see who can start holiday music the earliest, it seems.
  22. Part of me wouldn't be able to reconcile how us Brewers fans ripped on the Cubs about their obsession with Kerry Wood for years, if he did sign with the Brewers.
  23. Even the mighty Yankees haven't sold out all the luxury boxes in their new stadium yet (heard that on the radio today). The economic problems are affecting New York, too. Still doesn't mean they won't spend money like drunken sailors, though.
  24. Part of me wishes Lesnar would get killed match after match in UFC before finally being forced to go back to WWE where he was actually pretty entertaining (IMO).
