  1. Well, if the Mets, Phillies, Cubs, etc. play similar to how they did this past season, we would more than likely be out of the Wild Card with that scenario.
  2. Well, that's the thing. Gallardo and Capuano (if still around) would both be coming off injuries. I think Gallardo will be fine, but he's still young...you certainly can't expect him to be a dominant #1 type at this point. Bush is OK as a 3-4 type starter. Parra and Suppan were both shaky this past year. Villanueva and McClung would both seem to be most useful in the pen. I would have not much confidence in that rotation as outlined above.
  3. I agree. If they can re-sign neither Sheets or Sabathia, they will have to trade for someone like Jake Peavey. Otherwise next year will very much be a "rebuilding" year, but without much rebuilding going on.
  4. Well, even the Yankees can only have their payroll go so high.
  5. Just wanted to add that I quickly got the items I purchased from jason, and they were as excellent as advertised. Would not hesitate to buy from him again.
  6. Any word on parking and concessions yet? 5% is not that big a deal of an increase on tickets, I guess. You had to expect some increases after the playoffs.
  7. Even bench players contribute. I'm not saying the Phillies couldn't have won the World Series without him, but it's not like he played no role whatsoever.
  8. I personally thought Macha came off really well at the press conference yesterday. I found his attitude with the press to be refreshing compared to Yost.
  9. I just can't see even the Yankees going that high. It's not like the Yankees are going to have trouble selling tickets in their new stadium, with their team as is. Also, giving out a ridiculous contract like that doesn't seem to really be how Cashman is operating lately (despite the A-Rod contract last off-season).
  10. I basically agree. While I did try to still watch the games for the most part, the games on FOX take waaaaaaaayyyy too long. The TBS games seem much quicker. I can't imagine being on the East Coast and trying to stay up to watch every game, on a normal work schedule. FOX should look at their own presentation before whining about low ratings again.
  11. I think Tom Haudricourt deseves a small amount of credit for reporting early on that it would probably be Macha, and sticking to it.
  12. Ditto. Or how about a media that plays up all the teams, and not just three or four every single year, so fans actually care when the World Series happens, regardless of who is in it?
  13. I'd never heard of Blengino until like three days ago, and now there's all kinds of hand wringing on here about him leaving. I admit I don't peruse the minor league forums, but come on people...let's not overreact here.
  14. The problem with putting a brewery in at Miller Park is that a pint of beer would probably cost like 13 bucks.
  15. Is this for a game or something?
  16. Right. You don't trade Prince right now for two or three middling guys.
  17. http://www.speedtest.net/result/346199848.png I have Charter.
  18. I've heard Cashman is strongly considering trading Cabrera and/or Cano, but it seems like the Yankees really overvalue their young guys, so I doubt a trade with the Brewers will happen.
  19. Well, I seriously told a college friend I was riding in a car with, almost exactly a week before 9/11, that I believed Afghanistan would be the next country the US would be at war with. I seriously said that, based on all the wacky stuff I was reading about the Taliban at the time. However, I wouldn't go around saying I predicted 9/11 or anything. Basically the same thing, though.
  20. I agree about PAP being not very worthwhile, from what I've read. Then again, I had never heard of it until this season...it seems to be the hot new stat, or something.
  21. Well, from the quotes from Sveum, it sounded like he was certainly open to returning in a lesser role than interim manager.
  22. Well, at least it will be celebrating a team I was actually old enough to remember see playing...
  23. Well, that was brought up in the Cameron thread as well. It at least gives us some hope that our chances to retain CC are more than just on a wing and a prayer.
  24. I thought it was kind of amusing that they made sure to put this in: "All of the renovation work is being paid for by the Brewers. No taxpayer money is being used." I'm not ripping on the Brewers or Journal-Sentinel at all for that, it just seemed fitting after the recent hub-bub about the tax payers partially paying for the new video board.
  25. "Won't someone PLEASE think of the children!" Come on, really. This is professional sports. Emotions and testosterone are going to run high. He shoved Parra and they shouted at each other. It's not like he started punching him in the face. I'm not defending what Prince did, but to use it as a strong basis for trading the guy is a bit extreme, in my view. As far as throwing tantrums when striking out...half the guys in the league have probably sworn after striking out, or thrown a helmet, etc. Again, no reason to trade someone.
