  1. I do not think you can point to Ryan Braun as the reason for Fielder's deficiencies this season. However, I do think it's obvious that last season, Prince Fielder was "the man" on this team. This season, it's clearly Ryan Braun. I have no idea if Fielder would think like this, or even care. I would think, that either way, he would want to play his best to get his huge contract down the line.
  2. A 12 pack and the back seat of your car.
  3. Rapuano should be disciplined for last night. Completely unacceptable and uncalled for, IMO. I hope the Brewers file a complaint, or whatever the procedure is to get this guy reviewed.
  4. I don't think the GM is the problem. It's more the ownership group. Good luck with getting them to sell.
  5. I thought I heard it was in all stadiums now, so I'm not sure if that is accurate at all.
  6. http://www.nbc4.com/sports/16851725/detail.html?rss=dc&psp=news "The team is withholding $3.5 million in rent. It's also demanding $100,000 a day in damages, dating from March 1.The fight focuses on whether the stadium was "substantially complete" by March, when the city had to hand the keys to the owners." This is a couple weeks old, but a weird story I hadn't seen discussed on here yet. I'm sure the area tax payers aren't too pleased. So far, things aren't looking so pleasant for the former Expos.
  7. I believe that's prostate cancer red.
  8. http://www.canadianbaseballnews.com/TorBlueJays/Jaysimages/PaulMolitorMed.jpg Still makes me mad after all these years. I was only 12 when he left.
  9. Pedro, I would like to be included. I don't know if I make this place "a great forum" personally, but I think I post here enough!
  10. From everything I've read, it sounds like there is no way he is ready before the end of October. ie. they're looking at him being ready for spring training rather than the playoffs.
  11. I remember in Bases Loaded there was a guy named "Fendy" or something like that who played for New Jersey, I believe, who was quite a big hitter as well. I would usually use the same bean ball strategy against him, to the ire of my friends. "You hit him on purpose!" "Uh...no I didn't." To be honest, I sucked at Bases Loaded for the most part.
  12. Well, it's a tough battle for fourth (fifth?) place.
  13. One solid reliever and we're set, in my opinion.
  14. I am not a huge Yost fan. If he had been fired after the Boston sweep, I wouldn't have shed any tears. That said, I just wish more people around here could at least give the guy some modicum of credit. The Brewers, if I'm not mistaken, have the best record in baseball since some point in mid-May. While I think the majority of that is due to how the players are performing, I think you at least have to tip your cap to Yost for how he has the team playing. I am really enjoying this team right now, and I'm more concerned with how many wins Yost can get us than how he answers some cliche questions on the one radio station that seems to be begrudingly giving the Brewers more coverage now that they're winning, ironically.
  15. Like was pointed out last night, Gagne threw only 11 pitches, and 10 were strikes. If he continues to pitch like that for the remainder of the season, and hopefully into the post-season, his contract is well worth the price tag. As for Yost, his moves worked out, though I admit even I was perplexed by him batting Torres. Also, I wish he had made some defensive replacements late in the game. Putting Counsell in for Weeks might have saved me years on my life yesterday.
  16. One Cubs fan I know on another message board has gone into total "The Cubs are doomed to lose, and the Brewers and Cardinals cannot be stopped", type panic mode. It's really pretty funny. It should be interesting to see where the standings shake out by August 1st.
  17. Mine: - A similiar outfield "tweak", but I would have the Brewers trade for Matt Holliday and sign him to a big contract extension. Hart moves to CF. - Jason Kendall is retained for a couple more years. - Sabathia is re-signed, and we trade for Matt Gorzelanny from the Pirates to round out the starting rotation. - Brewers trade for Billy Wagner to help round out the bullpen.
  18. I hate when they have ones with cell phones ringing. I always reach for my phone.
  19. If you guys don't get Maggie Gyllenhaal (sp?), go rent "Secretary" some time...
  20. If the Brewers win, I love him. If they lose, I'm going to be getting the pitchfork out.
  21. Well, the Hall/Branyan platoon has been working so far...hopefully a Weeks/Durham one will net similar gains.
  22. Well, Cubs fans should be used to this by now, at any rate.
  23. To be honest, I'm more worried about the Cards than the Cubs...we don't HAVE to overtake the Cubs, but if we don't overtake the Cardinals at some point, we have zero chance of making the playoffs. I expected them to be way worse than they've been this year. I give La Russa and his players credit for being so competitive this season.
  24. I still have to read the actual graphic novel. As a kid who collected comics as best he could in the early and mid '90s, there weren't too many comic shops around in my town, and no one had a copy (since it had come out in the '80s). Maybe I'll just try and get it on Amazon or something.
