  1. I would throw it at him as it would solidify the starting rotation, bring a "name" player to Milwaukee, and probably sell a few more tickets during next season.
  2. Agreed, which really makes me angry.
  3. Bah, a couple years ago, no one had heard of Villanueva and Gallardo. Is it always going to be "Wait for this next batch of youngsters?"
  4. I think it will probably be the latter...we're going to lose out to a team offering a couple million more, most likely.
  5. Yeah. I really hope Melvin can get a deal done. I just am not that optimistic, as every other free agent or rumored name in a trade has slipped by so far.
  6. Yeah, if they acquire Suppan, dumping Jenkins is a forgone conclusion. Sounds like a good deal to me, though.
  7. For the love of baseball, get him signed, Doug. It would be nice to sign a free agent who's not from Wisconsin. He'd be a huge boost to the rotation. Get it done!
  8. Does Doug Melvin still think it's 2003, and the Brewers need a roster full of middling utility-type players or what?
  9. "nice to have a veteran good for 12 or 13 wins" Bingo.
  10. I'm not familiar with the two guys the Brewers would get in that proposed trade, but it would be a convenient way of getting rid of the "dead weight" as others have said.
  11. I still don't get how he's allowed to dink around for six months and not start playing until almost the end of spring.
  12. I do think having Cirillo back for his veteran precense would be nice. I think a big failing of last season's team was the ineptitude of the veterans on the field, save for Jeff Cirillo.
  13. I'd love to see him back, but wouldn't be heart broken if he ends up elsewhere, given the glut of infield and utility players the Brewers now have.
  14. I would suspect Jenkins is seen as having more chance to return to nearly All-Star type form than Mench, who has been basically an average player throughout his career. I don't really care which gets traded for whom, as long as the trades benefit the Brewers. I don't think either one will be on Milwaukee's opening day roster.
  15. I don't have a soft spot for Bonds. I can't stand him...the only player I probably like less is Gary Sheffield. That said, he's bound to break Aaron's record, unless some freak injury comes up. So, why not have him do it as a Brewer? I know it will never happen, but I'm just making the argument because I think it makes some sense. Also, it would guarantee tons of coverage on ESPN. We'd see a Brewers highlight every single night on Sportscenter and BBTN.
  16. I think the troubling thing with Turnbow was just how far he fell off in the second half last year. It wasn't like he was just dropping a run here and there...it was like he became a completely different pitcher from his dominant first half form. It was clearly a "mental component" issue, and who can really say if he'll get over it fully or not?
  17. I think having a veteran pitcher would be a nice alternative to the young guys we've been trotting out to fill holes, as others have stated. Lieber's posted an ERA higher than 4.20 in the last three years, though. I think as a fifth starter he'd be fine. I really don't feel like giving up Turnbow and Mench is that big a sacrifice.
  18. I read it. Thanks for posting. Kind of a depressing read, though. Seems like more of the "same old, same old."
  19. A big multiplayer swap between the Yankees and Brewers. A-Rod is coming to Milwaukee.
  20. Is Bonds really _that_ bad on defense? I mean, I know his wheels are "bad", but it seems like every time I saw him on TV last year, he was still making the routine plays and stuff. I understand he won't be climbing any outfield fences or anything, but are his D stats that bad?
  21. I'd do the proposed four players for Manny Ramirez trade in a heartbeat. Just seems like we never get players like that, though.
  22. How can you really say Turnbow is that important with Cordero on the team now? Turnbow is nice to have as a backup, but how do we know he'll ever return to true closer form?
  23. Miller Brewing wouldn't allow it http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  24. Really sorry if this was already posted: www.rotoworld.com/content...ajteam=MLW Doesn't mention what the Red Sox would offer in return. Probably couldn't get a ton for him right now, but even if it's one or two high prospects, it could be a good deal for Milwaukee at this point.
  25. Make it happen, Doug. The "funny name factor" alone is worth bringing Rocco Baldelli to Milwaukee, let alone the fact that he'd bring a much needed offensive boost.
