  1. Melvin is looking pretty smart for re-signing K-Rod right now.
  2. After watching last night, I already knew he was pretty messed up...but I think Jaime Lannister is the next character who deserves to get bumped off. Wow.
  3. In pro sports, I have no problem with teams running up the score as much as possible. A handful of extra hits for a guy during a season can make the difference in what they are paid the following year. If Porter doesn't like it, he should retire and go coach the team at his local high school or something.
  4. (I don't know how to edit the graphics). Here's the Pirates lineup: Marte 7 Harrison 5 McCutchen 8 Davis 3 Walker 4 Tabata 9 Barmes 6 Stewart 3 Cole 1 (Yes, the Brewers' lineup card has two Pirates listed as playing 1B...I'm guessing Stewart will be catching).
  5. Well said Nottso. Can't really add more to what you said, other than state that comparing County Stadium to Miller Park is like comparing a basic post war row house to a modern custom built mansion.
  6. Good luck. Hope the move is successful and things work out better for you than they did in Wisconsin.
  7. Well, there was the whole epilepsy thing on top of it. He's worth taking a flyer on at this point, but I'm not holding my breath that he turns into an MLB pitcher.
  8. Bianchi can probably hit as well as Weeks at this point, and play better defense on top of it. I'd start Scooter and have Bianchi be the backup.
  9. Wow, what a wonderful comeback win. This team seems pretty special right now.
  10. Do you want the Brewers to play competent defense, or do you want to see them sock a few more dingers? http://wisportsconsin.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/simp3.jpg "DINGERS! DINGERS! "
  11. re: beers, Miller Park has a pretty decent selection of beers compared to other stadiums I've been at. It's not like you're just stuck drinking Miller Lite and MGD. You just have to get up and look around, though. I remember when Miller Park was built, it was said they figured the building would have at least a 50 year lifespan, so that's what I figure we'll be looking at. The advantage of Miller Park vs County Stadium is that it's not a rigid concrete box like the old park was. They'll be able to do some re-configurations down the line if they need to in order to expand the park's lifespan. As far as the area around the park...I really don't see where people figure all these supposed restaurants and bars could be placed. There aren't that many vacant spaces around the park anymore. The area immediately east of the stadium used to be a waste land, but now there are a bunch of manufacturing companies that have set up shop right across the street.
  12. I'm guessing they'll maybe be able to bring in several other minority investors (people like Mark Attanasio) to help fund the new arena, and maybe the public will only need to contribute $100 million or so...which maybe could be funded through bonds or some sort of tax incentives to the Bucks owners. I assume all involved are smart enough to know that any talk of raising taxes to fund this thing is going to be DOA. The political climate in this state right now is just never going to allow for any real discussion of that to even take place.
  13. The way everyone is talking makes it sound like they're dead set on having a new arena downtown, so I think you can kiss any ideas of it being near Miller Park or whatever good bye. I think the city of Milwaukee (or at least Barrett and Abele) are fully on board with getting this done. Gov. Walker wasn't even there today so I don't think you can expect any help from the state at large.
  14. re: Leadoff spot, I think this is something that gets over analyzed. Like others have said, if not Gomez, then who? Lucroy I guess could fit the roll, but Gomez is working out just fine in the 1 spot. Of course it would be nice if Rickie Weeks ever becomes a good player again, but I'm not holding my breath for that.
  15. I think those two have been pretty good all season, but glad you're happy. A Brewers win is always a good thing.
  16. On Twitter they're saying it was simply "a friend remembering a friend", but it seems inevitable that they get something done.
  17. I even read speculation on WWE.com about the idea of having a six man tag title (like back in the old NWA and World Class days). I doubt they'll do that ever, but it's neat that they have all these three man groups again.
  18. Sadly this game was about a year before I started really paying attention to baseball so I didn't see it. I hope someday I'll actually get to see a Brewers pitcher throw a no-hitter.
  19. Evolution is back? I'll have to check that out. No Flair though, huh?
  20. So yeah, Joffrey is dead. I knew he was going to die at some point...kind of thought his death would be more spectacular than choking to death after being poisoned, but whatever. He had it coming. I have a guess as to who poisoned him, but I can't say I'm sure at this point. No, I haven't read the books.
  21. No, the Brewers, to my knowledge, have never used that as a retro or alternate jersey. I too, would absolutely love if they brought that one back. I would pay $200 for a replica Paul Molitor one if it was available.
