  1. Nevermind... This was misreported. Will West is a different minor league who is being suspended. Sorry for confusion.
  2. Why can't we ever seem to get a snowfall overnight that's done by morning? It seems like every time we get any major snow, it starts during daylight. Really messes with my day, given how much driving I have to do for work.
  3. Tying into that, my recent pet peeve has been talking to people on the phone (mainly at local companies) about trying to get some work done, or taking care of a simple problem...I make sure to speak in very simple terms, and you'll be able to tell by the tone in their voice that they have no idea what you're talking about. The answer after I'm done talking shouldn't be, "Well...OK...I'll, uh...pass that along to (insert owner's name here)". "Let me give you my number so he can call me back." "Oh...uh...ok." It's important to have good "front desk" customer service, whether you're a big company or a local one. I shouldn't be made to feel like I'm talking in Swahili when I'm trying to get help or give your company some business.
  4. Mod note: Moved this to the MLB forum where it's a bit more appropriate. Hopefully someone can help brewmann with his hotel question.
  5. I went ahead and simplified the thread title a bit, since this isn't limited to WWE and CM Punk talk at this point.
  6. That's kind of how most mascots are, though.
  7. I don't care if they have a mascot or not, but the design is pretty stupid looking, IMHO. Whatever.
  8. I heard Xbox One won't be supported right away, but will be added eventually.
  9. The Loretta comparison is interesting. I think he's a guy that has been largely forgotten by many Brewers fans, largely because he played for so many bad Brewers teams. He was arguably better than Weeks. I don't think Weeks has been the biggest disappointment of all time for the franchise, but the amount of injuries and "down seasons" he's had has been pretty maddening. Maybe "most frustrating position player in Brewers history" could be a better title for him. I know a lot of people would still say Sheffield, but he was still very young when he was traded, and went on to have a near Hall of Fame type career. Hard to call that "most disappointing", in my view.
  10. They really should do a better job of spelling that out...I'm not sure what "steps" I've done and not done yet. Not sure how the average person would figure any of this out either. I'm not exactly a computer newbie, but I'm not an IT expert either, and I feel somewhat lost on why certain things aren't working correctly.
  11. Would March 22nd work for those of you who have been expressing interest so far? I think March 1st would be too early. March 15th is bad because it's St. Patrick's Day weekend. I am actually unavailable March 8. Let me know.
  12. The reality is that with the explosion of TV money throughout most of the league, but not in Milwaukee, the Brewers are basically back to being a small market team. They can't play in free agency at this point, and I give Melvin credit for not bothering to this off-season. I think the team knows they have a very slim chance to be competitive in 2014, but don't want to wave the white flag right now. I think if the team is out of it, we're going to see a lot of wheeling and dealing in July.
  13. Apparently WWE's PPV revenues have been way down, so this may end up being a very smart move for them in the long run.
  14. Ended up purchasing a 15" Toshiba Satellite model yesterday. Upgraded to Windows 8.1 last night. It's been an interesting experience. The model has a touch screen, which is really nice, and fairly intuitive. The OS as a whole is going to take me quite a while to get used to. I've had a few frustrations already. Can't get my HP Bluetooth mouse to connect, for whatever reason, even though the laptop detects it. Also, the Windows Store wouldn't work for me at all. I searched online, and was apparently supposed to do a bunch of command prompt "stuff", which is just utterly ridiculous in 2014. The average person is going to have no way to figure any of that out. The Windows Store now works for me, after a random number of restarts. Can finally download apps like Facebook, Twitter, etc. I'll let you all know random further thoughts later.
  15. Yeah, they're great for Gmail and basic work applications (through Google) but for video steaming they aren't powerful enough yet.
  16. Thanks guys. I will check out those links. It's just it seems like there are so many different options these days, that it's a little bit overwhelming.
  17. So I posted a few days ago about how my beloved and reliable Chromebook bit the dust when I accidentally dropped it. So I now need a new laptop. Primary uses are for work: internet, email, spreadsheets, and word processing. I use Google Drive and Google Docs extensively. No gaming and very little media consumption. I really liked the Samsung Chromebook that I had, but not too impressed with the current offerings out there. The new HP ones have pretty mixed reviews. Price range is pretty wide open right now, but I'd like to stay under a grand. Can someone point me in some direction?
  18. Just tell her "whichever is cheapest," for any choices going forward. That should smooth things over.
  19. Is there stuff specifically on Amazon Prime that you can't get on Netflix that makes it worth it? Wife and I have had Netflix streaming for 2-3 years now and use it all the time.
  20. Well, sounds like consensus so far is to do it at Miller Park again this year, which is very feasible. We need a lot more expressed interest though to make this happen.
  21. Well, it's that time of year again. With Spring Training just around the corner, it's time to start planning for this year's Brewerfan.net Winter Meeting! What's the Winter Meeting? Simply an opportunity for people from this forum (along with any guests they choose to bring) to meet together, enjoy some camaraderie, maybe some food and beverages, and talk about baseball (and whatever else). Last year, we met at Friday's at Miller Park on a Saturday night. In the past few years, we have alternated between Madison and Milwaukee. Event is typically scheduled for a Saturday in March. Please chime in on this thread with your input, and if you would be interested in attending.
  22. Suppan was actually ok for the first two years of his contract...it was those final two that were crippling. Supposedly Melvin had a deal worked out to trade him at some point, which Attanasio nixed. I wonder how the owner felt about that decision later (if the story is even true).
  23. (Well, I got to be first for this year, so at least that's something.)
  24. I accidentally broke my Chromebook this afternoon, after owning it for a little over a year. Feel like a klutz and an idiot. ----- Continued from: viewtopic.php?p=873624#p873624 Original Lead: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=2392
  25. I got robbed in the first round of my league's playoffs this year (8 team keeper league). I put up enough points to easily win, but my opponent had Jamaal Charles from KC starting and got a fluke 50 points from him, which is just insane. I lost by about 30 points. If he had just had an average game, I would have won. Ah well, always next year.
