  1. If he had been able to stay healthy and pitch in the playoffs, I think the Brewers would have beaten the Phillies.
  2. It was an amazing season, but one Sheets was never quite able to repeat (as it was his last injury free one). That was the frustrating thing about him.
  3. Hmmm. I remember vaguely hearing about something like this a while ago. Interesting to read the details.
  4. Seems like they are really rushing him to the majors. He's had a grand total of two AA starts.
  5. Hunter Morris happens to be a left handed 1B who is putting up pretty nice numbers at Huntsville right now.
  6. If there had been, would anyone be talking about it ten years later either?
  7. Funny moment right after Prince won: ESPN showed a graphic with his name...but it had the Brewers logo on it. They took it off screen pretty quickly.
  8. I wish people would quit hoping for this scenario. It's extremely rare for it to happen in modern MLB. Greinke could go to the Rangers, help them win the World Series, and decide he's perfectly happy in Arlington. I would say that's a more likely scenario.
  9. It's silly pretending this should be some super exclusive thing. How many fans even really care or bother to visit the Walk of Fame when they come to Miller Park. And I'm sorry, but you can't really compare the Brewers to the Packers. The Brewers simply don't have anywhere close to the amount of history and championships that the Packers do.
  10. That's really a great way to look at it. Neither team looks playoff caliber at all right now.
  11. I always liked the one where one of the female characters (Ellie?) decides to run for mayor and all the male characters (including Andy) turn into total jerks for a while. Andy finally relents when Opie starts spouting off the same chauvinistic rhetoric.
  12. I wonder if Melvin has already gotten some real low ball trade offers for Hart, and is "taking him off the market" just for now. Maybe if the team really falls out of contention in the next couple weeks, Doug will suddenly start listening again.
  13. Kind of a shame last night that Wolf actually pitched pretty well up until giving up that three run homer yesterday (yes, I know he allowed two runners on before that).
  14. I actually think it's a decent trade for both teams. The Marlins gave up a couple expendable guys, but they might amount to something for the Astros, if that makes sense. Lee is clearly an upgrade over Sanchez right now.
  15. I can sort of understand scouting a pitcher to check his arm angle, his current "stuff", etc. I don't really get scouting a hitter. I remember a few years back when Adam Dunn was on the trading block while he was still with the Reds, and scouts were supposedly checking him out...as if he was some unknown quantity at that point. Just seems pretty silly to me.
  16. Yeah, I agree. It's not like the Brewers players go out to the parking lot and tailgate with the fans before the games or something.
  17. I like this idea a lot. Fans can still try to get their guys on the team, but the manager gets to decide who starts. That makes a lot of sense.
  18. In defense of whoever was running the PA, it didn't seem like the whole team/staff knew what was going on at first. Listening to Uecker on the radio, it didn't sound like they had much info to go off of, at least at first.
  19. From what I understand, he was slumping for a while, but seems to be heating up again of late. I don't see any reason not to call him and DFA Izturis. Not sure about his defense, but the way this season is going, I'd like to at least see what he can do at the big league level.
  20. Yeah, like I said in another thread, I'm surprised the Brewers aren't discussing it with the Dodgers (maybe they already are and we haven't heard about it).
  21. Very sad to hear about. I understand he was a Brewers employee for quite a while. Hopefully they can do a memorial fund or some other type of tribute like someone mentioned.
  22. I love Corey Hart, but I too would rather see him traded now while his value is still high. I have to believe next season either Gamel can play 1B again, or they can sign a short term stop gap until someone like Hunter Morris is ready to take over.
  23. I wonder if Doug couldn't offer Corey Hart to them and get even a bit more in return. Hart would be worth quite a bit more than Lee at this point, I'd think.
  24. This blogger (@TStads20) resurrects the Josh Hamilton rumors today: http://mrbadgertalksculture.wordpress.com/2012/06/30/the-domino-effect/
  25. I wouldn't be surprised to see Wolf bounce back in the second half. He seems like he has enough left in the tank for at least that. I definitely don't want to see his option picked up next year, though. That said, this was another frustrating game. I turned it off around the fifth inning. It's time for Doug to #sellsellsell.
