  1. It's a weird trade. I really dislike the idea of Ichiro wearing the pinstripes.
  2. With Dempster going to the Braves, that is one less suitor...and of course one more reason why Melvin and Attanasio need to give up on this season and get moving on making things happen.
  3. Seemingly a done deal per multiple sources on Twitter. Other players and details forthcoming.
  4. "Yurt." Now there's a word I never would have expected to read on this website.
  5. Yeah, at some point Selig would step in and start vetoing trades. I'm pretty sure MLB's rules still allow the commissioner to do that under certain situations.
  6. Rosenthal has a tidbit that Manny Parra and Kameron Loe are drawing interest. Can't imagine either would attract much in return, but it might make sense to deal either or both. I could stand to never sit through an outing from either at this point.
  7. That's exactly how I feel after yesterday's sweep finale. I've been saying for over a month that this team doesn't have enough fuel in the tank for a post-season run. It's apparent to even the most ardent die hard fans now (at least I think it is). Mark Attanasio and Doug Melvin have to be realistic now.
  8. I guess my point was more that if he has a bad start, after being skipped his last time through, other teams may question his health status.
  9. Anyone else want to bet that Greinke will be terrible in his next outing, and then no one will want to offer anything of real value for him?
  10. I know for sure that 50/50 is still around.
  11. Yeah, I agree. This is basically a sweep or bust. Unfortunately, I think they'll probably win 2 of 3 and muddy the situation even more.
  12. I can't believe the team is delusional at this point. If Greinke hasn't signed by now, what is magically going to make him sign an extension between now and when he officially becomes a free agent?
  13. I'm going to see if the wife and I might be able to make it. Sounds like a fun time.
  14. I don't know anything about David Hernandez (other than he's a 27 year old pitcher). Why would we want Upton though? We absolutely should not be trading for outfielders unless they are high upside prospects. Upton is under contract for three more years, but will be making quite a bit of coin.
  15. One has to wonder if Melvin is deep in talks with some team and they didn't want him to start for fear of injury. Then again, you would think they would want to see him make one more start after being pretty bad this month so far.
  16. That's a very sobering analysis. Very frustrating...if Axford hadn't pulled a complete Turnbow this year, we'd be doing fine and talking about being buyers instead of sellers. Hard to pin the season's woes on one guy, but there it is.
  17. Randy Wolf has a 5.80 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP this season. I really doubt any teams are really going to be looking to trade for him.
  18. What's $75 million between friends, right?
  19. They probably want to give him an extra day rest and hope he pitches better than he has been this month. Supposedly other teams are worrying about his performance which may make them disinclined to trade for him.
  20. I need to check this one out. We do get HBO, so I'll see if they have it On Demand yet.
  21. I am firmly in the camp of "He isn't going to sign long term at this point." I'm sick of hoping for him to re-sign, as we saw what that kind of hope brought with Fielder and Sabathia before him. Do we actually know if this supposed $100 million deal is on the table right now? I almost get the sense it's referring to something that was discussed earlier in the season (or spring). Anyway, if the team doesn't win the next two series, you trade him for the best deal possible, assuming that is better than the one or two draft picks you would get after he leaves. It's not too complicated really.
  22. Anyone criticizing the Braun extension probably isn't much of a Brewers fan, or hasn't been a Brewers fan for very long. Ryan Braun is a once in a generation type talent that very few teams see come around often. You don't let a guy like that ever walk if you can possibly help it.
  23. A-Ram should be worth more than a "bag of balls" at this point. I'm not saying the Brewers should expect to get a top flight prospect for him, but maybe a solid minor league pitcher with some upside or something along those lines. He has been about as good as can be reasonably expected so far this season. .821 OPS, 52 RBI, 10 HR, etc. The Dodgers might not be the only team where he'd be a good fit, either.
  24. Ugh. I really hope that doesn't happen. I can't take reading too many quotes from Doug Melvin like, "We think we're still in this thing," etc.
  25. I agree they need to go at least 6-3 over the next three series to really be in it. I think that is achievable. I think the team will come into this homestand fired up and ready to win, judging by comments from Braun during the All-Star break. The situation right now is eerily similar to the middle of the 2006 season, when Carlos Lee was still on the team. The team knew they had to win to keep El Caballo around, but they couldn't do it. That situation is mirrored with the Zack Greinke trade rumors. The difference is that this team is much more talented than the 2006 team was (at least in my opinion).
