  2. Does anybody have any thoughts on East Carolina RHP Jeff Hoffman? I've seen quite a bit of hype on this guy for the 2014 Draft - some talk of him being a potential candidate for the 1st overall pick. But when I went and checked his stats so far in college, I guess I expected better K/9 numbers. Obviously he must have some nice upside and a lot can change from now until the Draft - just wondering what people think of him...
  3. Extremely early rankings from SB Nation: http://www.minorleagueball.com/2013/7/27/4558480/extremely-early-2014-mlb-draft-rankings Carlos Rodon, Austin Jackson, and Tyler Kolek are my early favorites.
  4. Unless my math is off, I don't think the Brewers have taken a walk in 30 straight innings.

  6. The Brewers just picked their 3rd Pitcher in this draft from Lee University.
  7. BA's Top 500 as drafted by the Brewers - Brewers' pick number in parentheses: 43 (54) - Devin Williams 83 (72) - Tucker Neuhaus 126 (90) - Barrett Astin 146 (122) - Taylor Williams 181 (332) - Andy Hillis 285 (452) - David Denson 299 (902) - Luis Aviles 305 (152) - Joshua Uhen 332 (422) - Hobbs Johnson 373 (302) - Michael Ratterree 413 (362) - Trevor Seidenberger 450 (272) - Tyler Linehan 452 (962) - Ryan Deeter
  8. If signability becomes an issue, and the Brewers need to go the college route with one of their next few picks, here are some college pitchers I sort of like: -Bobby Wahl - RHP - Ole Miss -Stephen Tarpley - LHP - Scottsdale CC -Austin Kubitza - RHP - Rice -Jeff Thompson - RHP - Louisville -Andrew Mitchell - RHP - TCU
  9. Is Kyle Serrano pretty much considered unsignable? I read where he was committed to Tennessee where his dad coaches, so I guess I was assuming yes.
  10. narwhalattack (or anybody), related to Austin Wilson, I've come across the comment multiple times that Stanford has their hitters hit/bat differently or in some specific style. Do you know what they mean by that?
  11. Hey, there's Buck Farmer coming in at #98. He's having a nice season - too bad the Brewers couldn't sign him last year. Yeah, I've liked what I've read on that Garrett Williams too. I've also liked what I've read on Carlos Salazar (HS RHP), who is a little bit lower on that list.

Alfredo Rodriguez 46. Jose Pena 47. Carlos Belonis 48. Tommy Toledo 49. Elvis Rubio 50. Juan Ortiz I kept Mark Rogers and Jim Henderson off of my list because of age and they've sort of "graduated" in my mind being on the major league roster, but you could make a case they should have been included.
  13. That's pretty awesome X-TAI. Well done Hiram.
  14. Oh, I agree narwhalattack - way too early for me to be making any sort of definitive statements - I understand that. There is clearly a lot of swing and miss to his plate approach - we'll see how it translates. At least one thing is for sure though, he should be getting a promotion any day now - he probably already should have...
  15. Yeah, Gallo would have been my first pick as well. Gallo and Roache would have been a really intriguing power duo to select back-to-back. It's not that I'm necessarily down on Coulter as there is clearly some promise there. It's just that I think the odds are stacked against you if you are drafted out of high school to become a catcher (no idea if history supports this assumption or not). I just hope that his bat doesn't suffer on his journey to becoming a major league defensive catcher. Sucks that Haniger got hurt - he was doing pretty well at Wisconsin - a bit of a pleasant surprise. The Brewers will have a nice little influx of offensive talent to the system once Haniger, Roache, and even Arcia get healthy.
  16. Here's my random question of the night: -When you click on the boxscore of Brevard County, who are the players on the left side (swinging) and right side (fielding) of the screen?
  17. I hesitate to even post this, but left-handed hitting 17 year old (doesn't turn 18 until November while Coulter turns 19 this month) Joey Gallo is currently putting up 346/585/962 for a 1.547 OPS in Rookie ball. He has 4 HRs and 15!!! walks in just 41 plate appearances. Most here were clamoring for Gallo - would have really been nice to have picked him with one of the Brewers 1st 3 picks... Edit: Joey Gallo is 18 and turns 19 in November - I was wrong - my bad...
  18. Thanks for that Top Draft Picks link Crew07. I find it interesting when all of these guys sign, how much, where they get assigned - and comparing them to the Brewers picks. Just a suggestion, but could we maybe throw that somewhere in the Draft Forum rather than it getting buried in a daily link report? I bet a bunch of the posters who follow the draft would like that link as well.
  19. Does Ryan Braun know Trevor Plouffe (3B) or something? On his first HR today, Braun looked like he was smiling at him as he was approaching 3rd. On the second HR, it looked like Braun winked at him. Or maybe he was doing that to somebody else... Anyways, nice win and let's get game 3 tomorrow Greinke. Help me forget about that Royals series.
  20. Rumor is that Mitch Haniger will sign on Thursday. Callis says a $1.2M bonus... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/06/brewers-to-sign-mitch-haniger.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  21. The progression and improvement of Jimmy Nelson has been a wonderful thing to witness. I wasn't a fan of the draft pick when it was made, but man, has he really come on since the middle or so of last year. The only two guys who I think should be shooting up that list are Gian Rizzo and Hiram Burgos. I personally think that both should probably be sitting in the Top 20 at this point. Look out for Juan Ortiz in the DSL too...
  22. Was the Kyle Hansen that the Brewers drafted in 2009 the same one who was drafted early this year?
  23. Gallo, Hensley, Jankowski are my 3 right now...
  24. Monday - 6pm CST - Rounds 1, 1a Tuesday - 11am CST - Rounds 2-15 Wednedsay - 11am CST - Rounds 16-40 I don't pretend to be a draft expert or anything close to one, and I'm sure I'll be fine with and be able to rationalize anything that the Brewers choose to do. Once they are Brewers, I'm behind them 100%. Having said that, here are a few guys that I find that I'm liking for the Brewers' first 3 picks. Some of these guys will undoubtedly be gone by the time the Brewers pick, but you never know: Bats: -Joey Gallo - 1B/BL/Nevada HS - just too much power potential to pass up -Addison Russell - SS/BR/Florida HS -Travis Jankowski - CF/BL/Stony Brook - having a great college postseason so far, should stick in CF -Corey Seager - 3B/BL/North Carolina HS - nice, smooth powerful stroke from the left side with potential to stick at 3B -James Ramsey - OF/BL/Florida St. Arms: -Ty Hensley - RHP/Oklahoma HS - nice size, pretty good mechanics, and already appears to have 2 excellent pitches -Mitch Brown - RHP/Minnesota HS - already has a nice arsenal of 3-4 pitches, has made improvements over the years -Nick Travieso - RHP/Flordia HS -Pierce Johnson - RHP/Missouri St. Other early round guys I like: -Victor Roache - OF/BR/Georgia Southern - what can I say, I'm a sucker for power potential, wrist injury and all -Nick Williams - OF/BL/Texas HS - the Ken Griffey, Jr. comparisons are blinding my judgment -Tony Renda - 2B/BR/California -Pat Light - RHP/Monmouth -JO Berrios - RHP/Puerto Rico - we got last year's best Puerto Rican pitching prospect, why not get this year's as well -Matt Reynolds - 3B/BR/Arkansas
  25. Awesome stuff Mass. 2005 was the first year that I made an effort to look into the MLB Draft in general. Thanks to this thread, I now remember being a little bummed that we didn't sign Tim Smith.
