  1. The Brewers seem to have some sort of comfort level with Fullerton players: Komatsu, Kh. Davis, now Ramirez...
  2. I like Hunter Morris's power, but 2 things bug me about him: -He doesn't walk (only 7 BBs this year), so I question his plate recognition and future OBP skills -He has 11 errors this year at 1B - that seems like a lot For those two reasons, I don't really think of him as much of a prospect right now. In my mind, Khris Davis is probably the Brewers best 1B prospect as well as their best corner outfield prospect.
  3. I think that we are all missing Bradley's most important statistic: his full name is Jedidiah Custer Bradley.
  4. I guess we'll get a firsthand look as to the answer of this question, huh?
  5. Yeah, I'm OK with Jungmann. It's hard to ignore his college results against elite competition. Hopefully his outing on Saturday isn't an indication of anything serious.
  6. I've soured on Jungmann. I say Gray, Guerreiri, Swihart, HS arm. And take Cron with 15...
  7. Dang. Now I'm thinking Gray, Guerrieri, or some other HS pitcher at 12. Go get Cron too...
  8. Now I think it gets sort of interesting who the next college player off the board is.
  9. This guy attempts to predict who will have the best chance to succeed at the MLB level among college position players: http://projectprospect.com/article/2011/06/05/2011-rendon-leaders Jace Peterson from McNeese St. sounds a little bit like a Brewers pick to me.
  10. This is really a good point X ellence. I think it would be interesting to sort of track how the top college pitchers from this draft perform over the next 3-5 years or so.
  11. Thanks for the article MadtownStadley. In other news, I just saw where Jungmann's fastball was only at 88-91 mph in his loss on Saturday against Kent St. He got blasted giving up 7 ER in 5 2/3 on 8 hits, striking out 3 and walking 2. The dip in velocity is troubling.
  12. My potentially realistic Brewers wishlist for the 1st Round: Bats: Fransisco Lindor, Javier Baez, or CJ CronPitchers: Sonny Gray, Taylor Jungmann, or Taylor Guerrieri And I have a slight lean on the Bats listed above before the Pitchers. I would like Archie Bradley before any of them, but I'm not sure it's as realistic that he'll be there. I'm not totally sold on guys like Jed Bradley, Matt Barnes, George Springer, or Mike Mahtook.
  13. What's sort of strange is that baseballreference has a separate page for both Sanchez and Ozuna, but it looks to pretty clearly be the same person. Milb only shows an Ozuna and no Sanchez. I'll leave it up to the Power 50 folks to decide...
  14. For what it's worth, it was not a good day for potential Brewer targets Matt Barnes and George Springer today in their Regional game against Coastal Carolina. The Huskies got blasted 13-1.Matt Barnes took the loss giving up 7 ER in 4 1/3 IP with 6 Ks, 3 BBs, and 9 Hits.George Springer was 0-4 with 2 Ks.http://www.ncaa.com/game/baseball/d1/2011/06/03/coastal-caro-connecticut
  15. Just a guess, but I would think the comparison between Bradley and Sheets is because they both rely on 2 pitches: fastballs and a similar 12-6 curveball. And then perhaps that neither one really uses a change up - but maybe with Bradley it's because he hasn't developed it yet or had to use it. YoungGeezy, I don't remember Sheets having a good change-up. In fact, I hardly remember him ever using it. But maybe I just don't have a good memory... As far as body type, I don't see a comparison at all. Bradley is extremely well put together. If you had to build a stud right-hander pitcher or a stud QB or a stud WR from scratch, he's sort of what that would look like. Sheets has to be at least 3 inches shorter and not nearly the athlete Bradley looks to be. I don't particularly see any kind of delivery comparison either.
  16. I agree with your points paul253. Unless Lindor is there with the Brewers' picks, I'm just not comfortable taking any of these SS prospects (and expecting them to stick at SS). One guy that I noticed was not on that baseballamerica list was Julius Gaines, a prep SS from a Georgia high school. I read about him on 5 Tool Talk in one of the Dandy Dozen submissions and I was very intrigued. Does anybody know what the deal is with Gaines?
  17. I'm sort of digging either Taylor Jungmann or Tyler Anderson at that No. 15 pick if the Brewers feel the need to go college player due to signability issues. I know what everybody says about Jungmann - maxed out with only No. 3 starter upside, but at some point it sort of gets hard to ignore the results. He's dominated at every step of the way for an elite program. His success in tournament games including CWS games has been stellar - if I'm not mistaken, he's like 6-0 in about 40 innings of work in tournament games. And I'll definitely defer to the people who pay more attention to this stuff than me, but somebody convince me why the Brewers shouldn't take him with either their No. 12 or No. 15 pick. What am I missing with this guy?
  18. I really like it so far. The acting is very strong. Peter Dinklage is an absolute pleasure - he owns every scene that he is in. I've also enjoyed the endings for all 3 episodes - for some reason, they've all really stood out to me.
  19. Yikes MJLiverock. That was incredibly helpful toward understanding the first episode and at the same time not giving anything away for future episodes. Thank you - much appreciated.
  20. I had never heard of the books either. But I'm kind of a sucker for medieval/fantasy type stuff, so I gave it a go. I enjoyed the opening scene. Cool opening credits/title sequence. After that, it got a little bogged down as they had to introduce a lot of characters, families, allegiances, brief histories, and whatnot - but that's part of the fun I think. That, coupled with a few strange sounding names and the British accents and I got a little confused. It's sort of hard to follow when dealing with a made-up world with thousands of years of history that you know nothing about, but you basically know what's happening. Good actors. Lots of gratuitous nudity, f-bombs, some be-headings, and some other various sexually twisted stuff going on (especially the Targaryen story line with the brother marrying his sister away and the savages). I'll give it another shot. I enjoyed it. I agree with Invader3K though, it's pretty cliched in a lot of regards. And it was a tad slow - so far, not a ton of action.
  21. Milwaukee is in control of its destiny. They own the tie breakers over Butler and Cleveland St. If the Panthers win against Youngstown St., they get the No. 1 seed in the Horizon League tournament. Pretty incredible.
  22. jhart05, What is the injury situation with the Panthers going into this game? I thought that I read that several Panther players are nursing injuries going into this game (I think it was Hill, Williams, and Allen but I'm not sure). Are these guys going to be OK?
  23. A quick Milwaukee update: With their win against Valpo last night, the Panthers keep their slim No. 1 seed Horizen tournament hopes alive. If I'm not mistaken, I think they've all but locked up at worst a No. 4 seed. This team is playing pretty darn well right now and have won 7 straight. Their next game is a Bracket Buster game at Buffalo. But the more important game is next week when they travel to 1st place Cleveland St. - the Panthers are currently 1 game out.
  24. Hey, what's the status on Evan Anundsen right now? A few pitchers not on your Power 50 that I am mildly interested in:Mike Ramlow-lanky lefty who has had some A+ success - it would be nice to see him continue his success at a higher level as he's getting a little old for A ballJoel Pierce-high draft pick last yearGreg Holle-huge pitcher who pitched well last year (no surprise as a 21 year old in low Rookie ball) I'm not saying they should be on the Power 50, just that they are sort of on my radar. As always, thanks for the effort.
