  1. I would try and contact the WUA (Wisconsin Umpires Assiciation). I used to be an umpire, and I'm positive they could either sell you those directly or tell you where to get them.
  2. Thanks for all the info. We have no timeline to move, and we don't currently own anything, so we do plan on taking our time and, thanks to the brewerfan.net population, getting a buyer's agent. I guess we'll talk to a few agents and then choose the one who seems the most capable of helping us out.
  3. So I'm looking to buy my first place, and I have it narrowed down to 2 specific condos. I found the condos online, so I didn't really have someone searching for places for me. My question is: What is the benefit of a buyer's agent? I know I don't pay them directly, but to me it seems that not having the seller pay the buyer's agent would be a pretty sizable negotiation chip. Am I missing something, or should I go solo?
  4. I've moved those that haven't replied down to the waiting list, and have opened the team up to anyone currently on the list. We have 2 spots currently left. If they are not filled by Tuesday, I'll open it up to anyone. So, 1- ecjimg 2-erbacaine04 3-lcbj68c 4-sheetswannabe if you are one of these 4 posters and are still interested, please PM me soon, or else you may lose your spot. Thanks! Kenny
  5. I hear Toronto is lovely this time of year. Seriously though, if it will not financially ruin you, the time to travel the world is in college. Less commitments, and a lifetime to come up with the extra money it costs (not much in the long run).
  6. Using my way-back machine, the Brewers could have done this and followed the rules with Brooks Kieschnick every game. Just have him hit somewhere near the top of the lineup, have him face 1 batter, and bring in your starter.
  7. Methinks that is illegal. Plus you lose the pinch hitter. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/downloads/y2007/03_game_preliminaries.pdf 3.05 (a) The pitcher named in the batting order handed the umpire-in-chief, as provided in Rules 4.01 (a) and 4.01 (b), shall pitch to the first batter or any substitute batter until such batter is put out or reaches first base, unless the pitcher sustains injury or illness which, in the judgment of the umpire-in-chief, incapacitates him from pitching. (b) If the pitcher is replaced, the substitute pitcher shall pitch to the batter then at bat, or any substitute batter, until such batter is put out or reaches first base, or until the offensive team is put out, unless the substitute pitcher sustains injury or illness which, in the umpire-in-chief's judgment, incapacitates him for further play as a pitcher. © If an improper substitution is made for the pitcher, the umpire shall direct the proper pitcher to return to the game until the provisions of this rule are fulfilled. If the improper pitcher is permitted to pitch, any play that results is legal. The improper pitcher becomes the proper pitcher as soon as he makes his first pitch to the batter, or as soon as any runner is put out. Rule 3.05© Comment: If a manager attempts to remove a pitcher in violation of Rule 3.05 © the umpire shall notify the manager of the offending club that it cannot be done. If, by chance, the umpire-in-chief has, through oversight, announced the incoming improper pitcher, he should still correct the situation before the improper pitcher pitches. Once the improper pitcher delivers a pitch he becomes the proper pitcher.
  8. The Wisconsin Humane Society, IIRC, is now no-kill. They do a tremendous job treating the animals who come in there and getting them ready for adoption. I got my cat from there, and apparently he was there for 3 months getting various treatments before they even put him up for adoption. That said, best of luck to Ysis, and I hope you find a family before the 11th.
  9. Why use CDs for music when you could play.... Oregon Trail and die of dysentery.
  10. Whoa nelly! I love watching cliff diving with Keith Jackson on Cheap Seats. Currently, I guess it's Joe Buck.
  11. Good response so far. Still waiting to hear back from Houlie , ecjimg, lcbj68c, and sheetswannabe. Let me know either way.

  13. We're in for Friday. Financial details to follow.
  14. Current Jerseys Drick, if you can keep prices close to that, it may be tempting. Though it also might be nice to keep some uniformity between teams (if either team needs a fill-in player, they'd already have the correct jersey). How much do you think that would cost per person?
  15. That list looks right. The main question is, can anybody pitch? I'm sure we'll be more than able to sort out positions during practices. Either way, I'm just glad there was enough interest to do this. I would like it if the team all got jerseys (similar to team 1), but I won't make it mandatory to help keep costs down.
  16. It looks like Friday is pretty well agreed upon, so let's go with Friday. I'll need people to help throw down some startup cash to cover our league fees, as well as to pick up some practice balls. I'll give more detail when I have it.
  17. Solid interview today for a dream job. *Fingers crossed*
  18. That is so clearly Hugh Blair it's not even funny.
  19. So you think we'll get smoked every game? If that is the case Friday may not be such a bad idea. I just liked the Sijan location.
  20. sheetswannabe, if you drove to oak creek on time, you could carpool if you wanted. Either way, please pick your favorite day.
  21. Name your favorite day ecjimg, we're shooting for a roster of 12-15.
  22. I agree with you in theory, however we would probably need to double the size of the police force just to enforce this one rule. Part of the problem is that city cops are so busy dealing with other inner-city issues that truancy is essentially ignored.
  23. MS-166 - Sijan in Bay View - Thursday nights or MS-161(preferred) - Sijan - Wednesday nights or MS-310 - Friday nights - Dyer field (151 N 80th). Game times are 6:15, 7:15, 8:15, and 9:15. I'd prefer Sijan either night, but Dyer would be acceptable. Please respond with your preferred game night so we can get moving on signing us up (new team registration starts Feb 1). Poll results: Wednesday - lcbj68, drick23, radman, baldkin, happyyoungster, gypcasino Thursday - lcbj68, radman, baldkin, happyyoungster, gypcasino Friday - lcbj68, radman, rightomac, houlie, happyyoungster, gypcasino, nullbyte, bball123h EDIT: Apparently the 100-level leagues are uber-competitive. 300 leagues are more casual fun (at least in theory).
  24. My personal rankings: 1. PNC - The Onion article where the stadium threatened to leave the team was pretty accurate. It's a shame they can't put together a good team for that park 2. Camden Yards - Bottom 9, 2 down, Jack Cust, the game tying run, trips halfway between 3rd and home and is eventually caught in a pickle (v. Yankees) 3. Wrigley - May move down the list more if they put more ads up. True old-school baseball experience 4. Fenway - read above 5. Yankee Stadium - Only ever sat in bleachers, but was quite the experience 6. Cleveland (I got booed by the entire stadium for dropping a home run ball back onto the field, it was pretty funny) 7. Atlanta 8. Cincinnati - right along river, awesome chili dogs 9. Philly - Game time temp was 102, I was pretty miserable the whole game 10. Miller Park - I feel indoors during the summer. 11. Texas - Massive place. Only baseball park I know that is a massive square 12. Toronto - Felt like I was inside a pinball machine. Want to stay at the hotel sometime. 13. Tampa - I actually have a soft spot for this dome (that may be due to the fact you can sit right behind the plate for under $30, and that I saw Lou Pinella kick his hat around the infield). 14. Shea - If you like airplanes and garbage, this is the stadium for you. 15. Montreal - It's gone now, but you could bang the empty seats next to you together and make a ton of noise. Also, I saw Wil Cordero hit a gran chalel, which was nice. 16. DC - Will move up now that they have a new building 17. Florida - hot, miserable, and a football stadium.
  25. IE will work. I'm not actually buying tickets (I can't afford the transportation), but that is the trick I use every year for Cubs v. Brewers at Wrigley. It doesn't work in firefox.
