  1. Meanwhile I just saw Petr Crow Armstrong try to bunt and 0-2 count and foul out in the 9th inning down 2…..
  2. Good classic Brewers style win. Now on to rooting for whomever the Angels closer is :)
  3. Meanwhile the Cubs are lookin like the stalwarts they are.
  4. ??? No room for any nuance huh?? I’m gonna go ahead and disagree with that blanket statement. Maybe usually that is the right move. Very few situations for one move is ALWAYS the right move.
  5. I don’t know about that. Especially with how badly he has been struggling coupled with the fact he is coming in cold off the bench and pinch hitting, I don’t think he should have challenged.
  6. I don’t know…..the times he has gotten into a rhythm he hasn’t been THIS bad. He walks a little, and has some pop. When he’s struggling like this he’s unplayable.
  7. This pinch hitting is unnecessary. Not only Mitchell can’t hit, the Sanchize doesn’t even have huge hitting splits.
  8. When I saw the video of Buckner missing 20 + calls…..it crossed my mind that maybe he thinks he’s doing it in protest, like purposely missing calls.
  9. Has anyone seen the youtube video about how CB Buckner missed 20 calls the other day???
  10. Power to us Luddites! RE the challenge system. I think the things is that for every pitch overturned like the one you mention, there’ll be about 15 obvious ones that were necessary, and hopefully throughout the LONG system, the good outweighs the bad quite a bit.
  11. There was a challenge that at-bat and it got overturned; Gameday probably stumbled over that.
  12. I think the Ortiz thing makes a little more sense. Murphy just flat out doesn’t trust him to make good swing decisions. He had an at-bat yesterday that was just atrocious. He has been off to a better start this year though. I wonder if Murph intentionally just gave him a hard day off. The Perk thing is just beyond frustrating though. If you are gonna trust him to pinch hit, you put him in the situation he has a better chance to succeed at 100 times out of 100. Lastly, if he knew he wasn’t going to pinch hit for those lads, he shouldn’t have stacked 3 lefties in a row like that. Very poorly done.
  13. Does anyone have a clue why Murph opted to use Perk against a righty instead of the lefty by pinch hitting for Mitchell? Perk is far better from the right side. Furthermore Mitchell can’t hit…..I am beyond perplexed.
  14. Last two swings by Lockridge looked like AAA fodder to me. Time for Perk to make up for his folly.
  15. As putrid as Sproat has been, a couple things I am bummed about - This ump has been equally as bad. Really don’t think it’s a good idea to have Quero start his first game with an equally big start for Sproat. The Sanchize dropped a pick off at first that would have been an out. Perk inexplicably had his worst jump of his career and let a pop fly drop. All this to say, aside from the double play, Sproat got zero help from anybody.
  16. This ump has been terrible and Murph uas to make sure Quero isn’t afraid to challenge. Stupendously good play by Ortiz.
  17. I think it’s because his first season they sent him down for that month. It’s exciting that we still have him for quite a while!!!
  18. I guess Benintendi placed a bet on Brice Turang getting two hits this game…..?
  19. Chandler Patrick lookin good to start the season!
  20. Really pleased with Gasser. For some reason it seems like a lot of people always forget how good he is. I think he can be a great #4 starter. Hoping he makes the team.
  21. Hard for me to not see Perkins making this team. He’s essentially the best teammate in the clubhouse, switch-hitting is important, and he is a better defender than Lockridge. Lockridge made multiple defensive misreads and miscues last year, diving at the wrong times, misjudging balls in gaps, that Perkins hasn’t done at all in 3 years. That doesn’t mean Lockridge isn’t a great defender, but Perkins might just have the ability to be a platinum glove winner if he was an every day player. I am excited about this newfound offensive ceiling for Lockridge. I want to see him continue to prove it in AAA, as spring training results mean…..absolutely nothing. Also, Mitchell was terrible last year. Although I do believe he’s a guy that’ll put up good numbers if he has time to get in rhythm, he never has that time. So I believe there’s a pretty big chance that even if he doesn’t have a season ending injury, his playing time may end up being limited by ineffectiveness at some point this year.
  22. Question about staff - Does anyone know if joltin Jace Peterson is still going to be in his “unofficial” partime dugout role? I think he just joins the team as a coach at home segments of the schedule? I remember players saying they really like having him around. I know he’s a consultant or advisor for the organization but I’m referring more to this specific role. Thanks
