  1. Rickey Henderson died today. He was 4 days shy of his 66th birthday, December 25, 1958, died of pneumonia.
  2. The deal, first reported on Wednesday, will guarantee Canning $4.25 million and includes up to $1 million in bonuses, according to a source.
  3. I'm sure Hoskins will have a better average this season, even though he hit 26 home runs and missed over 30 games last year. I don't think his knee was ever quite right last season either after he tweaked it in May last season sliding. His ACL should be much improved this year, the only thing working against him is his age at 32 in March.
  4. Also, Garrett Mitchell is a 80-grade runner which is a player with a running speed that is considered elite. So are Corbin Carroll, Elly Da La Cruz, Shohei Ohtani, 80-grade runners. That is if he can keep from pulling his hamstrings.
  5. This is who I'm waiting for. https://www.milb.com/player/ernesto-martinez-jr-667803
  6. No mention of his bat weight compared to the others. Maybe he uses a lightweight bat which accounts for the greater bat speed without the power.
  7. I always thought of Black as a type player you could use in a pinch, (Injuries backup and or running substitutions).
  8. Yes, you are right, I'm all for giving him a shot again in spring training but sure would spend all season seeing if he's got for the bigs because my gut just tells me no he does not. But I do have faith in Pat Murphy much mor so than I ever did in Counsell. Especially younger talent.
  9. I was looking at this, https://www.mlb.com/player/tyler-black-672012
  10. Tyler Black is broken. .204/.316/.245 without a HR in his last 30 games, no established defensive home, not a consideration for postseason play, limited trade value this offseason. We do have someone in the pipeline at 1st soon I believe also 6'6". Maybe a year away if he keeps up the good work. https://www.milb.com/player/ernesto-martinez-jr-667803
  11. Except Chourio and hit 50 points higher in the minors (MiLB), also is/was 4 1/2 years younger than Black when posting them. Black did not have great numbers at AAA.
  12. I don't think so, I believe Black "so far" has shown me the hitting abilities of a Joey Weimer. I have never been a fan of Tyler Black.
  13. I agree with you, AFL Breakout Prospect of the Year, Caleb Durbin was the star of the circuit this fall, hitting .312/.427/.548 with five homers in 24 games. He set a league record with 29 stolen bases, shattering the previous record of 24 which stood since 1994. https://www.mlb.com/arizona-fall-league/stats/
  14. Maybe they will end up keeping Hoskins but it does seem like they want to trade him. I also heard Brewers are to sign a contract today to keep the team in Milwaukee until 2050.
  15. When I said "Breakout" I meant having a good offensive season. There is a reason why he only had 49 at bats with above average speed. Because he didn't get on base.
  16. Now we also have a 1st base opening because Tyler Black to me is only backup quality. I always am hoping for a breakout year for Black but it never seems to happen at the big league level.
  17. LOL, I agree 100%, with the pitching shortages we had last season having an extra is a no brainer to me. Who says some can't work out of the pen because most our starters can't even finish the 5th inning.
  18. I like Abner Uribe as long as he is healthy and preforming, just because he has a fire in him you can't penalize him for that. Tyrese Haliburton is always dusting it up with the Bucks and getting under there skin, I think a team needs that once in a while as long as he is not a problem in the clubhouse. I say keep him.
  19. I think Hoskins will have a much better season this year because he was not 100% last year just coming off an ACL surgery that you could tell was not 100% yet last season.
  20. I did say the 2026 season not not 2025 and I realize I may be putting the cart before the horse but you never know with anyone hitting as good as he has been. Some guys can just hit. Yes, I am very optimistic and you said "This team is trying to COMPETE for everything." I want that as much as anybody, not just to have a young guy up in the BIGS.
  21. Well, now with Adamas gone he could have a shot maybe even next season or 2026 for sure. The next Yount, Chourio type player?
  22. I think we are only 2 years away from https://www.milb.com/player/jesus-made-815908
  23. Major League Baseball's Winter Meetings, the annual convergence of the industry's movers and shakers, will get underway on Dec. 9 in Dallas. I hope it will be good and interesting for the Brewers.
