  1. I guess we are about to find out if the new market inefficiency is over 30 career minor league pitchers.
  2. Messing up their routine would hurt them way more than sitting on a big league bench and getting one start would help them. That is what September is for. There is a reason teams don't generally call up prospects for short stints unless they are contending, it is bad for the prospect. Cubs are calling up their top prospect Ian Happ to fill in for Russell and Bryant. As of today Cubs are a half game behind the Brewers.
  3. Who cares about CS? I thought the Brewers/Mark A were going to buy a minor league franchise and move the AAA team out of CS next year.
  4. Anytime you bring up any of those guys, but a guy like Brinson in particular, there is no going back if they end up killing it. There just isn't a scenario right now that you start those clock on May 10th. They'd be better off sticking Perez out there if they put him on the DL. They called Prince up to DH for a few interleague series and they sent him back down. It has been done and can be done. No excuse for playing a guy who can't throw.
  5. So you want to possibly miss out on having your best prospect for a whole season because you brought him up earlier than you needed to this season? Doesn't sound all that smart for our franchise to me. Why in the world would you miss out on him for a whole season? I'm not saying you need to bring Brinson up for the rest of the year. A couple weeks up in May isn't going to end up costing a service year. And if you don't prefer Brinson now there's also Phillips and Cordell on the 40. +1 We also had a .500 road trip without him, so it's not like we're throwing up the white flag if we put him on the dl.
  6. No, he hasn't. He's not "some guy." Other than not throwing it to the correct base, the play at the plate would've been very close if he was 100% healthy. Last night the Sox scored three runs in the 5th. A throw from Braun with anything on it would have gotten the guy at the plate. The other two runs scored with two outs. That's 3 runs right there. And that play tonight is perhaps the 4th run.
  7. Why is Braun not on the DL? We have great OF prospects in AAA and he's already cost us 3-4 runs defensively this series.
  8. They might not make the playoffs but they are entertaining at least. Not what you would expect out of a rebuild year.
  9. One run game and we had Broxton on the bench when he could have run for either Franklin or Jesus. Not happy with that.
  10. Discussing today with some Brewer fans whether the Crew should call heads or tails to determine if we play here or in LA for the pre-wild card game with the Dodgers. Also trying to figure out who goes against Kershaw.
  11. No doubt, but all I've been hearing today is that we have to play better defense and then we sit one of our two plus defenders. Doesn't make sense.
  12. Yeah, Broxton was a big plus defensively yesterday and is finally starting to come around at the plate. I don't get why he isn't in there everyday.
  13. I feel that way too (but hope against it) As to the Giants, who I don't much follow: What happened to them? I do know about Bumgarner's motorcycle folly, but little else. Pence is 34 now, Posey is 30, Belt is 29 and never turned into the guy they thought he would, Crawford is 30, Span is old. Joe Panik is the only young impact player to come up since that second World Series win in 2012. So 4 years of no impact youth is finally catching up to them. Here is the age of their positional roster C - 30,33 1B - 29 2B - 26 SS - 30 3B - 22 (Arroyo just came up) OF - 30,33,34 Then the bench has old guys like Aaron Hill(35) and Mike Morse(35) and Drew Stubbs(32) That's what happened at the end of the bonds era Giants team too, except even worse. It was just a bunch of really old guys and bonds.
  14. Todd Fraizer was a more highly rated prospect, but he didn't see playing time in the bigs until he was 26, and he's had a pretty good career. Not saying that shaw will turn out the same, but I think it's a mistake to assume every good player we get has to be up with the big club before they turn 25.
  15. Didn't see it, but it's inexplicable to me that a guy who is clearly hanging onto a roster spot by a thread would not run out a grounder. If he truly was dogging it, I would not surprised to see him get his DFA tomorrow. I think it was a little bit of a bullet right at 3rd so he thought he was out, but as soon as it was dropped he should have started running again. Given how slow he is he probably would have been out regardless, but it should have been way closer. I also think he's the perfect guy to do this to since he hasn't shown anything since spring training anyway. Don't want anyone getting too comfortable now do we?
  16. Larussa said something about the lights too, that we had the ribbon board lights turned down when the Cards were at bat and on full blast when the Crew was at the plate.
  17. And a good portion of the bullpen. Maybe the bullpen isn't that bad and it only just seems that way to me. Our team ERA is 16th in the majors, so at least statistically we are average.
  18. Best free agent signing for the Brewers ever?
  19. It does seem like better quality food. Buddy got the Milwaukee burger and he said it was comparable to what you'd get at the restaurant. Thumbs up for tater tots too. Our seats are in the terrace level and it appears they've added in additional lighting too. Much brighter when we were walking out of the game than I remember in the past.
  20. The way the newcomers have hit makes watching the holdovers suck a little easier. Have to hope the suckiness isn't contagious.
