  1. And let him get hurt? No. PH everytime you can. Anderson, Nelson, Guerra. All batting/running. No thank you. Last time I checked, pitchers were professional athletes. The odds of them getting hurt as a hitter/runner are still very slim. And in the last 14 months 3 went down for long periods of time due to non-pitching injuries. I'd rather not chance those long odds any more than we need to.

  3. Got a buddy in Chicago watching the game and he said the cubs announcer said, "I don't want to say the Brewers are paper tigers but....
  4. And he's been released after refusing a AAA assignment. It's a distinct possibility the Reds screwed up in releasing him. Check out this action from the Reds bullpen tonight. https://deadspin.com/well-heres-a-characteristically-depressing-inning-from-1825228420
  5. Looking like the worst $750K Cincy ever spent. Yo's line tonight 1/3 IP 4 h 6ER 2BB. ERA stands at 5.40 on the season. No check that 54.00 on the season. I imagine he's going to be DFA'd tomorrow.
  6. From what I read it will be fines only. Not sure if that's on the individual players or on the team. I can see the Red Sox and Yankees just telling their players to go ahead and make as many visits as they want. They'll cover the fines. So Yank-Sox games will still go 4 hours.
  7. God bless Brent Suter for what he did for us in 2017, but I really don't think I want to try him out as a 5th starter in 2018. He had a nice run in July and he pitched great in Sept, but he didn't go very deep in games, which is fine in Sept, but would kill our bullpen if we have to cover 4 innings every time he starts for the whole season. Seems like the perfect 6th man/long reliever. He's 28, so it's not like he is some youngster with a ton of potential. Personally, I'd like to win the wild card. I know Jimmy's injury probably dampens the enthusiasm for 2018, but I really can't see any reason why we can't contend for a playoff spot next year. We've got big league talent and we've got talent in the pipeline. A lot depends on what we do in the offseason, but given the great moves Stearns has made so far no reason to think we won't keep improving.
  8. Game notes today Brewers starters have walked 274, Brewers relievers have walked 255.
  9. Maybe the bickering was the juju Anderson needed to get out of the jam. Keep bickering guys, all the way to the playoffs. You'll be the Brewers Waldorf and Statler. Maybe that's the secret to this shocking year. All the bickering, fighting, and negativity in the IGT. Yes, the team has great chemistry in the clubhouse and the field. The IGT is sucking up all the negative feelings from the team. It's a very zen thing. Er, I mean, that's the stupidest thing I've ever read T-Plush. (waiting for Villar rbi single)

  11. Do you think Sophia timed her report for when Arcia was on base and not in the dugout?
  12. Holy cow. Stop. Can I get mod status so I can get this crap the heck out of here? Make Brewersfan.net great again!! This place is just straight up turds lately. I mean I think he is now 0-22 as a Brewer at throwing out baserunners. I thought you were joking, but you are right. 0-22 counting 2 tonight. He's not great in his career, 26%, he was 15% with Oak but he was 28% last year. I wonder if the knee and neck injury is impacting him at all or if he just lost it this season.
  13. Could really use one of those dumb baserunning moves right now, like an attempted double steal or something.
  14. Can someone please start a petty crap thread so we can have the game thread to just talk about the game?
  15. Wow that baserunning move by Diaz was a full Villar.
  16. Unfortunately the Rockies schedule is charmin soft here on out. SD, @SF, @SD, MIA and 3 with the Dodgers when they are going to be resting their starters getting ready for the playoffs. It would take a truly epic collapse for them to blow a 2.5 game lead with that schedule.
  17. His OPS for the month of July was 861. What about May, June and August? Without April, his year would be pathetic and he might be out a job in 2018. His OPS for the year is 11th in major league baseball for all first basemen. Post all star break his OPS 698 right below Chris Davis at .700 and a few spots above Miguel Cabrera .625. I'm assuming Baltimore and Detroit are planning on DFA'ing those two guys over the winter too.
  18. Also if you wanted to play that game you would pretty much cut everyone on the team based on the last two months with the exceptions of Shaw and Santana.
  19. Rob Deer was actually a pretty good player at least as a batter. What I meant to say was Thames either homers or strikes out. An all or nothing hitter. Just like Gorman and Deer. Or walks, which is what Deer also did and what makes them a valuable hitter. Power and OBP is pretty valuable. Thames is hitting .240 but OBP is .340. That's good enough for me. OPS+ is 119. That is a valuable hitter.
