  1. Espada was Dusty Baker's bench coach. Dusty was 73 when he won last year with the Astros.
  2. It's at Citi Field. All the mets will be there anyway to clean out their lockers so it won't be a huge imposition to suit up one more time.
  3. It's not an impact bat but it's a sellers market. Ohtani is off the market. What other bats are out there that you can get? Candelario or Thomas from Wash, Grichuk, Bellinger. Is Stl dealing Arenado? They might not want to deal him in the division or deal him at all. That's not a lot of bats. There probably isn't anyone on the As or KC that could help us. With the Angels going for it there just aren't that many sellers out there and there are a lot of buyers.
  4. Is Chris Davis our manager? He currently holds the record at 54.
  5. I'm sure Yeli really wanted that nod but I'm happy he has a 4 day break before the stretch run, He's played 81 out of 85. That's more than I was expecting him to play. Only Wiemer has played more games than Yeli.
  6. Where do you get the high leverage bullpen numbers? I've been looking for them but can't find them. Our bullpen overall looks very mediocre but I didn't think it was that bad but couldn't find the stats to prove it.
  7. That play seemed very similar to the play when JJ Hardy broke his ankle with a late slide into home against the phillies. I'm wondering if at some point teams will start teaching players to just run through home plate similar to first base.
  8. Yamato gave up 3 ER in 1 1/3 innings today against the Mets. His season ERA is 11.42(in only two starts). He was optioned to the Marlins alternate camp after the game. Fangraphs had his career WAR at 0.7 prior to today's start. 0.9 for last season and -.2 for this season. He's still only 24 so he'll get some more shots but that hot start last season is looking more like a fluke. Lewis Brinson misplayed a ball in LF yesterday that led to the first Braves run. The Marlins were shutout yesterday so can't exactly blame the loss on Brinson but this sure didn't help. The play is at 4:28 in the video. Brinson is 26 and has 729 plate appearances in the bigs with a .182/.238/.290 slash line. If he can't even play decent defense in the OF it would appear that even a career as a 4th/5th OF similar to Keon Broxton is out of the question.
