  1. I really do feel sorry for people that can't enjoy this for whatever reasons. Life is too short to not celebrate stuff life this.
  2. Almost nobody is selling out right now. Yup. Brewers are currently 10th in average attendance... https://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance 2k behind the Yankees. And this is a problem? I mean there might be some extenuating circumstances right?
  3. Cain catch better than Yount? I think I'll go with Cain. Jim Paciorek made a great catch earlier in the Nieves' no hitter that might have been better than both, but nobody remembers it.
  4. The game changes like every other sport. That is literally the history of the baseball. Read some Bill James. Yup. Absolutely. I just don't enjoy watching it as much as I did 20 years ago. You must not be a Brewers fan because 20 years ago the Brewers were going on a decade of some of the worst baseball in literally the history of the game. So if you can't enjoy baseball now as much back then there is something wrong with you.
  5. My take that I no longer enjoy the game as I did when I was a youth due to pitch counts (today's example), 7-inning doubleheaders, and other changes is laughable? Good grief. Has nothing to do with their success this season, I just don't enjoy watching the game as much as I did when I was younger. The game changes like every other sport. That is literally the history of the baseball. Read some Bill James.
  6. We're up 8 runs and we bring in a relievers out of the pen with a 1.42 ERA and a 1.04 ERA. Not because they need work, but because we're saving out "better" relievers for a closer game later in the series. Team is just loaded with pitching.
  7. Not to pile on but the Giants also had 4 games in September against the Dodgers while the reds don't have any left against us. The Giants took 3 out of 4 in September against the Dodgers. It's not unrealistic to think the Brewers could easily go 13-10 the rest of the way and make whatever the Reds do irrelevant.
  8. Phillies have the easiest schedule in all of baseball remaining. 3 against us and 3 against the braves. 20 against Pitts, Balt, Cubs, Col, and Marlins. Atlanta's is pretty easy too 27th. We're only 4 games back of the Giants for best record overall and 3 behind the dodgers. That's almost a more compelling race(that we probably don't want to win) than the NL central.
  9. The Cards are 12 back. We have 41 games left they have 43. If we play .500 ball the rest of the season, which seems incredibly unlikely the cards could win 3 out of 4 and still not catch us. The division is over. We've won.
  10. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/willy-adames-can-see-clearly-now/ Nothing to add to the article. Might have to pick up an adames shirsie this weekend.
  11. Gotta say I don't think Ross is exactly a tactical genius. It's a 7-6 ballgame in the 4th inning and he plays his infield in with runners on second and 3rd with one out. Peterson sneaks one past the drawn in IF for 2 rbis. If Ross plays the IF back it's probably a rbi ground out and he gets out of the inning only down 1 after Yellich strikes out. Instead he's down 7 after 4. Did he really think this game was going to end 7-6 or 8-7? That's the only reason to play the IF in there. If you think you aren't going to score anymore and the other team isn't going to score either.
  12. With all these injury threads it may be easier to just start a thread announcing the guys that aren't hurt.
  13. He is so bad that I'm not sure he is going to be in the league in 2 years. I'm very patient usually, but he looks like he can't play the game. Tonight is I believe his 157th major league game. So you and a lot of people are giving up on him before he's even played a full season worth of major league games. The kid needs to go through some growing pains. Most players do.
  14. Though I like this signing, for me anyway, this doesn't tell me or show me the Brewers won't spend money. It's a two year deal with an opt out after 1 at 12 million/yr. VERY team friendly. To show me they are willing/can spend money I would need to see some long term deals..3 years minimum(preferably 4-5) for Free agents before I'm inclined to think they will spend $$. No, re signing Yelich doesn't count(in my book). Now get 2 or more other guys locked up like that, THEN I will be convinced they spend money. Based on this theory the Padres signing Tatis Jr. doesn't prove they will spend money either. That sounds like a dumb theory to me.
  15. I didn't see this posted. Intersting article on fangraphs about Shaw. While his wRC+ was below league average he seemed to have some bad luck on balls he hit. They have highlights of 3 doubles he hit that were literally 1 foot from being HRs. His stat line would look better if he had 9 HRs in 180 ABs rather than just 6. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/travis-shaw-could-be-a-smart-flier-for-milwaukee/
  16. I wonder how negotiations went given what his agent had to say when he left. Will this be asked about by the cracker jack reporters covering the team or is it just water over the dam at this point. Travis Shaw’s agent, Joe Bick, texted me this statement regarding Shaw, now a free agent: “If Travis can be in a spot where a team just trusts and believes in him, they’ll get tremendous results.”
  17. This about sums it up I think.
  18. Felt this way for about 5 seconds then I remember he started Marcum in game 6 and started cursing his name. so forget him. (hint I don't mean forget him)
  19. Not to rain on his parade but he hit the 3 homers off two rookies and a journeyman with a career era of 4.97. Looks like the Astros were trying to do a bullpen game and didn't use any of their A list or even b list pitchers. It's clear Trent can hit this level of AAA pitching. Can he hit consistent quality major league pitching? That question will be answered another day.
  20. https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/big-league-stew/yunel-escobar-apologizes-gay-slur-eye-black-says-203605396--mlb.html Escobar got 3 games for having a gay slur in his eye black. He's protected by the union so there is a limit to how hard the league could come down on him. With the NFL canning him I think it would look really bad if Cincy brings him back.
  21. Yamato gave up 3 ER in 1 1/3 innings today against the Mets. His season ERA is 11.42(in only two starts). He was optioned to the Marlins alternate camp after the game. Fangraphs had his career WAR at 0.7 prior to today's start. 0.9 for last season and -.2 for this season. He's still only 24 so he'll get some more shots but that hot start last season is looking more like a fluke. Lewis Brinson misplayed a ball in LF yesterday that led to the first Braves run. The Marlins were shutout yesterday so can't exactly blame the loss on Brinson but this sure didn't help. The play is at 4:28 in the video. Brinson is 26 and has 729 plate appearances in the bigs with a .182/.238/.290 slash line. If he can't even play decent defense in the OF it would appear that even a career as a 4th/5th OF similar to Keon Broxton is out of the question.
  22. If there was an agreement ready to be signed they would announce it so they could start talking about baseball stuff.
  23. Isn't pay part of the equation of whether you want to work or not? Many companies gave essential workers bonuses for working during a pandemic. So part of the equation of do I want to work during this time is pay. It would seem that if a player normally gets paid $7M a year they might not be willing to go back to work and risk exposure for himself and his family for $2M. I guess the point is despite things opening back up, this pandemic hasn't gone away. And many companies are treating it like that still working from home. If the owners want the players to take on this added risk they will need to pay them to do so. If you look at what Snell said it was about the risk and the reduced pay. They go hand in hand. I haven't seen a player say they won't play only for reduced pay, because they already agreed to play for reduced pay in March.
