I have a bit of experience in this area. When you get numbness like that, its likely a torn ulnar collateral ligament. I partially tore mine in college (playing softball, go figure) and would get that sensation whenever I threw remotely hard. Apparently when that ligament is compromised something hits a nerve in the elbow that sends that feeling down to the hands. I was told by the doctor that if I was a big league pitcher, I would have probably needed TJ surgery.

I agree with this. It's time. The guy has all the ability in the world and just does not seem to have the focus to be consistent.

I've never seen an ump get berated, with a cap throw, and then reverse a call and not throw the guy out for showing him up. What a spineless POS.

Fair enough... and I never advocated, or ever thought of "shutting down the season." It's particularly frustrating to see a team that played very good ball, all of a sudden revert back to the mistakes they have made the past couple of seasons. Plate discipline has slacked off at the dome, and their fielding has continued to slide. No doubt a winning roadtrip is nice, but getting swept is never good. Especially with a hot Cardinals club coming into town on Monday. I hope you're right about lighting up Baker.

So the Padres didn't want to pick up TGJ off of waivers when he was sent down, now they do AND they throw in a soild backup OF? More kind and generous than Natalie Merchant, those Padres. -
