  1. Whelp, I declared myself "working from home" this afternoon, so i'll be able to watch the game. GO BREWERS.
  2. I watched Four Brothers over the weekend. It's no Oscar winner, but if you're looking to be entertained with action and some suspense, it's got the elements. However, Andre Benjamin at no pointed shook it like a Polaroid picture, so that was disappointing.
  3. [ I'd image tomorrow that you'll go dust of your John Fogerty album and crank up 'Centerfield', hey? ] I just listen to the mp3.

  6. Here's another article on Jeff: www.philly.com/mld/dailyn...615882.htm
  7. Who's the next completely polarizing player going to be? The Brewers need an all-batting-average no-walk-or-K guy to complete the cycle. I guess I just didn't see why people got so angry about Russell. Sure, I liked him, and still think he'd be an awesome platoon player for some team not blessed with a lot of 3B talent, but the whole 3TO thing was just a way of turning somewhat of an ugly stat into something fun. Ah well... 3TO became a WOAH SOLVDD type codename for Brewerfan.net, and that's really all I envisioned for the 3TO phenomenon. It's kind of like people who love the Evil Dead trilogy. It was all about being campy.
  8. http://www.nysportsday.com/nyy/images/jeff.jpg The independent fan site community mourns a loss today. Jeff Lamana, founder and webmaster of philaphans.com passed away this morning after a bout with cancer at age 32. He and I were both part of a fansite alliance where sites like ours exchanged information. www.philaphans.com/news/combined/1143940004.html R.I.P, Jeff. In the limited contact I had with you, you were very helpful, and a real nice guy.
  9. [ I'm not calling for his banishment more than just asking someone with a little clout (maybe either of your two) to let him know that type of topic isn't appriciated. ] The locking of the thread is an indicator to the poster that the topic was not appreciated. I give my mods complete "clout". But since we're on the topic, I have to make something clear: 3TO was an inside joke, people. sheesh "neener-neener" and spite posts don't fly here. I would apply the same to myself if Ohka got shelled in the first half, and I was thankful I wouldn't have to see any pro-Ohka threads.
  10. Baseball season approaches, and as does an elevated sense of debate as more actual events approach. I frequent a site, LifeHacker, which gives a lot of great common sense advice and best practices for life. I couldn't let this article go by unlinked: www.lifehacker.com/software/netiquette/geek-to-live-how-to-deal-with-internet-meanies-164222.php We're all guilty of being a jerk from time to time, but I think reading this every now and then would allow us to take a step back and put things into perspective. If we can take some advice from this, or just use it as a refresher for those who have cooler heads than others, I think we can avoid a lot of unnecessary condescension, name-calling, or worst-case scenario: bannings. Have a happy season everyone, and let's show 'em why we're all part of one of the classiest fan forums in all of baseball! Viva la Brewerfan!
  11. [ If Ray King hits Prince Fielder with a pitch, and Prince charges the mound, what will happen? ] Regicide?
  12. bad news. Roberta Park is only for kids 12 and under... we'll need an alternate location for practice.
  13. If it turns out to be not a good site, then by all means, some of the other suggestions in this thread would work just fine for me. I can bring my dog along to shag fly balls. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. There's plenty of street parking. It's "Roberta Park", and it's just off S. East Ave in Waukesha: local.yahoo.com/details?id=24461695 I'll see if I can snap a picture of it tonight before the sun sets.
  15. [ Worse yet, Microsoft 'invented' a ton of code that isn't part of any standard and only works in IE. ] Worse yet, for us developers, IE is very forgiving of badly formed HTML. So a developer has no clue that they're creating HTML that can't be browsed by other browsers unless they test in each every step of the way.
  16. [ I've been trying to convince friends that Hardy will be solid this year, but most people still cling to those first half numbers. ] Hey, tell your friends to throw down some money on their assumptions. Either you'll walk away richer, or you'll have just won your argument.
  17. [ It's funny, to me the best player in that trade at the time was Valentin, and he still is, but I was the only one who thought so for a couple years. ] Don't worry, your "I told you so" points have been added to your tally.
  18. There's a diamond around where I live (south of Carroll College) that's NEVER in use as well. It's probably not the greatest place in the world to swing for the fences, but if people want to get together to throw the ball around, it's perfect. I've personally _never_ played softball, so I would need some practice gripping and throwing a softball if I ever needed get into a game. Plus, after a dormant winter, I need the exercise.
  19. Some great positives tonight from the bullpen and nice to see Cirillo still "has it" offensively AND defensively. This is going to be a special team.
  20. I'd just like to apologize for breaking my own rules yesterday and saying someone was being a "insert non-banned-but-derogatory-word". I'm currently working through the situation with the individual privately to see if we can come to some sort of understanding. There are times where the moderators and even the president of the sites makes mistakes, and yesterday was one of those days for me. Again, I apologize and will continue to try to set the best example of appropriate behavior in the site. Thanks for your understanding, Brian
  21. [ I can't believe anyone is looking for a guy with two straight years of pedestrian AAA numbers to add to the 40 man. ] He's perfect 5th outfielder material for a team who wants a defensive replacement. He's still only 24, so he still has upside, but he's certainly not the prospect he once was.
  22. [ Who retires after hitting .331, even in Colorado? That is very, very strange. ] I could probably hit .280 in Colorado Springs. But seriously, minor league players don't get paid a lot of money. There's a point where you feel that you've dug yourself a hole financially, and eventually you have to move on. He spend 11 years in the minors. When it became clear to him this spring that he wasn't going to make it, he hung it up. He's a University of Tennessee grad, so more than likely he has some kind of plan for his life outside baseball. Best of luck to him...
