  1. I'd rather Melvin make moves that make sense, even if it means waiting, than just make moves just to appease fans.
  2. http://www.dancraft.com/Commercial.htm
  3. Closing this thread, as the deal is done
  4. I can just picture Terry Bradshaw giving one of those Poindexters a noogie.
  5. It's 1 year/5M plus 3M in incentives.
  6. I don't think it would really be that big of a deal to give him a major league deal, and then cut him if he stinks in S/T.
  7. http://www.neo-geo.com/snk/screenshots/2020%20super%20baseball2.gif By 2020, the Red Sox will have called up the headless robot "Liu" after Joe Mauer will have stepped on a landmine, putting him on the DL.
  8. Well for what it's worth, Jocketty had this to say: "Jamie Quirk believes Willy got away from his game plan. He needs to bunt more and keep the ball on the ground and get some infield hits. I don't know if he tried to hit home runs, or what, but Jamie think he changed his approach and that we can get him back on track." I suppose if he actually gets to trying to bunt for a base-hit, he's got SOME value.
  9. I'd probably pay money to hear Melvin say "we'd like to add a bay window, and that".
  10. A 2-year deal for a player who was: a) non-tendered b) not eligible for free-agency until after 2010 Fangraphs had him with NEGATIVE 800k last year. For a while there, I was sort of afraid that Jocketty would turn the Reds around.
  11. It didn't fit in any of the categories on LL, so it would have gone in the Off-Topic forum if LL had a separate one.
  12. That, and park effects, I'm sure.
  13. You should just start walking around town, and tapping your left or right arm while pointing at people.
  14. I guess I wouldn't see that as necessary. The value basically describes how much that player should make on the open market, and that value is the same for each team (plus and minus perhaps some teams who stink having to overpay for a player). I think the value YOU describe is important as well, but should be a separate figure.
  15. Based on calculating a certain $ per win and calculating that based off performance, each player page now shows a yearly "value" amount. Pretty interesting. No duds for the Brewers in 2008... Even Kendall was "worth" more than his contract, even with the statheads.
  16. Argh.... so I make the jump to U-Verse and it looks like they're not carrying the MLB network, at least not yet. Bah humbug.
  17. Don't even get me started on Target. The other one is Walgreens... Waiting for a prescription to be filled is prime-time for them to entice you to buy a bunch of crap.
  18. Watching a Charlie Brown Christmas each year is a must at our household. But yeah, I still love A Christmas Story.

  20. link A high school coach in Arkansas determined that NEVER punting statistically gives you the best chance to win. I figured this would appeal to the crowd here, for sure.
  21. The New York Yankees: MLB's Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start.
  22. Honestly, I think the whole LSD story is bunk. There's no way he'd be able to make much sense of a newspaper, let alone pitch a perfect game on acid.
