  1. BCU, you are some kind of sorcerer.
  2. He's a FA after the season... what's the point of hanging onto him if there's interest from a team who can give them something more valuable in the long run?
  3. I love some of the comments: "if one of the worst teams in baseball doesn't even want him, why would the Brewers?" *slaps forehead*
  4. A 1986 Topps Brian the Automator rookie card.
  5. Some sort of superstitional thing, I think ... As long as they don't go to the Derek Bell clown pants, I won't complain.
  6. The author mentioned that he wasn't happy with VII either, and was going to re-do it ASAP.
  7. We do our very best to warn users first via PM if there's things that are borderline strike-worthy. It's not very often that we'll just wind up and "throw one down Wisconsin Avenue" if it's someone who has no previous track record of being a problem user (altho it has happened). I'm sure some of the banned users will disagree with me, but we really try our best to work with users to find a resolution.
  8. Had a user banned today because he struck out... I just need to re-iterate that acronyms and short-hand for swears (i.e. BS and W-T-F) are NOT allowed here, even if the terms have become basic parts of modern internet vocabulary. In a "parting shot" private message, the user mentioned how ridiculous the site's rules are. I know that compared to other internet message boards, we're probably about as strict as strict gets. I feel that this is one of the things that separates us from the competition, and if people disagree with it, they can make their choice as to what forum(s) they frequent. Bottom line, if you don't respect the rules of the site, don't post here. I'm not going to be heartbroken if we're not all things to all people. The rules are posted all over the place, so if you've received in as strike in the past, please re-read them. I really don't take much joy in giving the go-ahead to throw down the ban hammer, as I really do enjoy all the viewpoints we have here. Thanks for your understanding... and as always, I've always been very open regarding discussing site matters either publicly or privately, so don't hesitate if there's improvements/suggestions that you'd like to bring up. That doesn't mean that we'll always go that route, but I want every one to have an equal voice here.

  10. Manny's still got somewhat of a "young arm" because of the time he's missed, though. I think if Manny can consistently get a first-pitch breaking ball in for a strike, he's gonna be a good one.

  12. He, unsurprisingly, had a monster grip on the handshake as well. I really didn't smell him in detail... you know, because of the potential for restraining order. But I'd imagine he smells like awesome.
  13. I left my thongs in my other jacket, so, the former... I was going to have him sign my chest, but I thought it might creep him out.
  14. Prince has a variety of tats, and I really don't think he's trying to cover up an insecurities or such nonsense... Football players don't seem to shy away from tattoos either, and NFL ratings are as high as ever. I think people are just grasping at straws to figure out why NBA ratings are so low. I suppose if I saw a bunch of "thug life" tattoos or something, I would think the person's either poseur or glorifying crime, but I generally don't see that sort of thing.
  15. I told Russell to hit me a couple of jacks tonight.
  16. Honestly, I didn't know who either of the other guys were at first (in street clothes, it doesn't often pop out at you). I _knew_ I recognized Wigginton from somewhere, but I was so distracted with Russell and his aura that I wasn't able to think fast enough.
  17. So today, a couple of former co-workers and I were headed down to Ardor Pub & Grill on Broadway for lunch, but it happened to be closed. So we walked up the street looking for somewhere else to grab a bite, and I always heard good things about Cubanita's, so we dropped in. I ordered my food and sat down, and sitting at the table next to me: http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/d7225bd4f191cd1c43f1acc8c9b661dceff53b9.jpg RUSSELL FREAKING BRANYAN. Normally, I wouldn't disturb someone I've never met at a restaurant, because I respect their privacy, but this was obviously an exception. I told him about the site and that a fair number of us were enormous fans and disciples of the "Three True Outcomes". He sorta looked confused, but shook my hand anyway. At least now he knows who we are so I wouldn't be surprised if he at least out of morbid curiosity checked us out. BEST LUNCH EVER. EDIT: at the right side of the table is Ty Wigginton... with his back towards the camera is Doug Brocail.
  18. It IS one thing to make fun of yourself, and another to make fun of others, I will admit that.
  19. I'm not going to deny that there are MANY people that find racism funny.
  20. Oh, I get it... That's hillarious. Maybe they ought to make one with watermelon for Derrek Lee, because racism is funny. I can hardly keep my sides from splitting.
  21. If snakes could fly, we'd all be dead.
