  1. Recently, the chat room language has gotten about as tasteless as it gets, and warnings/strikes had to be issued. Obviously, the controls in the chat room are much more laxed than they would be in a normal thread, but talking to the ladies about how to manage their pubic hair is something best left alone. I'm not sure why I even have to mention this.
  2. He's got an OPS of 1.035 over the past 7 days.
  3. I'm of the Earl Weaver school of thought which says you should only steal bases if you need to score ONE run, or you have Rickey Henderson.
  4. We both report news and discuss baseball. Unfortunately (and fortunately), the fan forum and the rest of the site are joined at the hip. So when someone says "I heard from brewerfan.net that the Brewers traded for Adam Dunn", what does that say about the perception of the credibility of the site? I know that when there's a rumor, I do my very best to ping my sources and see if there's fire around the smoke, and that stuff takes time.... We do that because there's a feeling the brewerfan will have the news as fast as anyone else, and occasionally, before anyone else. I'm very proud of that, and take that all very personally.
  5. It would certainly be good news for our sales for Yosted t-shirts for the time being.
  6. Weird ... Seems like he would have done some pretty big damage to his relationship with Yost by doing this. I wouldn't shut the door on a Yost firing, but it seems like this would reduce the odds a bit.
  7. I would think so as well... This seems like a case where he wanted to leak the info because his source told him that he didn't want him to leak the info, so he's using this other blogger as a proxy.
  8. So does Charlie Moore get groomed to replace Ted Simmons when he gets fired? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

  10. Firing on the manager on the road is somewhat odd, but firing him on an off-day is something that teams generally prefer to do. I sort of have a feeling that this will go down, but honestly, if it doesn't, don't be surprised as well. Having Braun come out and talk about not feeling like they had a chance might have been the final nail in the coffin, tho.
  11. This would be consistent with speculation from someone I heard a couple of weeks ago. But again, that was speculation, only mentioning that today would be the best day to do it IF it happened.
  12. I gotta say Owen, you really went out of your way to not only apologize for the initial comments you made, but pimp the crap out of us on the air. I'd also like to apologize for the comments I made earlier in the thread, as they were made out of frustration. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help you promote your show.
  13. Yeah, the service I was using to get the weather for each city hosed the page ... I'll take a look.
  14. Given that our moderation policies are enforced by several different individuals, and that they aren't based on "black and white" rules but "qualitative" rules, I think it's a case where we're doing the best we can.
  15. fun and baseball do not mix. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  16. I guess I disagree. If we as a society say that it's OK to perjure yourself, then the legal system becomes a joke.
  17. Thanks for coming out, Owen. If you really wanted to rebut the trade, I would have mentioned that the Brewers got 2 comp picks out of the Linebrink deal, which buffered the loss of losing Inman. Altho, Inman is tearing up the Texas League (AA) right now (a notorious hitter's league), so we still may regret that trade. Time will tell, as it does for all MLBers-for-prospect deals.
  18. I'd say that Homer probably represents the average bf.net poster with maybe a bit less knowledge about the minors and more knowledge about the players, since he's more plugged in media-wise than we are. I generally enjoy listening to him, and find that my opinions pretty line up with his at about 80% regarding the team.
  19. Well, I still have a desk (We have an open-concept room... I'll have to snap a photo once we move to our permanent quarters), but I get to work from home whenever I need to, so it's all good.
  20. I understand that Pie hasn't performed at the MLB level (ever), but still, it's over 240 AB's. He had a .973 OPS last year in AAA... He's got nothing else to prove at that level, and the only way he's going to figure out MLB pitching is to face it. Luckily, this is a great move for us, long-term. It just postpones Pie's learning curve, or better yet, forces the Cubs to deal him away because he's disgruntled.
  21. Well, it looks like Owen just signed up to post, so hopefully we can straighten this out and figure out what's up.
  22. I just listened to it. I was partial to "pencil protector dork fan". I think he meant "pocket protector", at least if he were trying to be insulting. I'll make sure I bring it up to him when he's bagging my groceries.
