  1. Sweet. Instead of weakly grounding out to SS, I will sharply ground out to SS.
  2. I've got a craftsman with a Honda engine, and it's been terrific. My dad did the research for me (wanted one that's low maintenance, since I'm a moron with handy-type things), and picked out the best one for the money.
  3. Livan will give them some flexibility with how they use their younger pitchers, and will maybe be attractive to a contender who needs a bottom-of-the-rotation starter at the deadline. Your basic "sign him to trade him" deal.
  4. I don't get what the big deal about Blanton is. Sure, I'd take him over any of our 5th starters in an instant, but he had a road ERA of 5.11 last year and 4.70 over the past 3 years. I'd love to see the Reds overpay for him.
  5. I always find this comment funny. A trained monkey could handle the extra decision making that is required in the NL. Comments like this come off as very condescending.
  6. wisdom teeth.
  7. My office building has no heat today.
  8. This is one of those "cottage industry" signings, where you're actually signing the prospects that you'll trade him at the deadline for. Works nice for everyone involved.
  9. Galstaff, sorcerer of light.
  10. Thanks a ton for the recap, TLB.
  11. Ok, so since we have the rule on no religion/politics and this thread certainly begs this into question, let's please keep replies limited to things you're giving up instead of views on religion/catholocism. I'm assuming this thread is meant in fun, and not to provoke that kind of conversation (which by the way is freely allowed at our "sister" forum for politics/religion). We hid a few replies that sort of crossed that line.... No strikes or anything issued, just try and be careful that way tho. Thanks, Brian
  12. Even if the coach is on the hot seat, the last thing you want is him feeling like a lame duck on top of that.
  13. Nurses and X-Ray techs who are condescending jerks and don't listen to a word you say so you have to repeat yourselves 4 times to communicate a simple thought.
  14. Refund? Hah. I only wish I were so lucky.
  15. World Class Baseball for the Turbografx-16
  16. Sorry to steal your thunder, but a shirt that is extremely similar to that will be revealed before the start of the season.
  17. YES!... Figures, the only GWSY thread where someone didn't post Taint McFadden was the time I broke out a McFadden.
  18. I agree with Toby. It's clear condescension, and like 3 times in the same sentence. Clearly, people can get snippy from time to time (I mean, it's friggin' cold up here). There were other things such as "save the straw man argument" the other day as well, which sort of caught our attention. Valpo, you know I really respect you, but I do know that it's been a pattern for you to quite often stand up for people who we tell to cool it. And by that, I certainly don't mean you do it ALL the time, just often enough that it makes me think that you might be sort of seeking that kind of thing out. Unfortunately, when a user like Pete catches our attention (not saying he's a bad guy, just comes off more blunt than the atmosphere we try to promote), we'll tend to take more notice posts by that particular person. Personally, when I see flagrant things like "LOL - YO - hellooooo....", I'll call people out no matter if it's a newbie or an old-bie, someone's opinion I agree with, or someone's opinion I don't agree with. It doesn't mean that we're going to come down on every snarky comment on the site, but this was over the top. We really do our best here to treat people even-handedly, and yeah, we probably do give some more leeway to members who've been around longer, just because I think they've earned the benefit of the doubt.
  19. Vandross did cover this person's biggest hit, but personally, I think he tainted it.

  21. Wow, a dog who not only can type, but can put together complex sentence structure. I'd take it in because of that alone, but unfortunately do not qualify because there's no more room at the inn.
  22. Neither this person and another singer/songwriter/producer who he collaborated with made it past 58 years old. One died tragically.
