  1. Honestly, I would try a few different temp agencies. I would analyze what you did wrong on the tests that you did badly on, and then give it a shot with another temp agency. I went with Dunhill while I was in college, and it worked out great... I was even able to stay on and intern with the company I worked for (MGIC) and used it as a springboard when I got out of school. The Racine/Kenosha thing does limit your options, though...
  2. Just curious.... If you clear waivers, does your no-trade clause still apply? I would have to think it does.
  3. They already have a fantastic situational lefty in Shouse.... now add, Parra to the mix. Are you saying they should carry another situational lefty? I really have no reason to believe that if there was a fine bullpen arm that was better than our worst bullpen arm that Melvin would claim and try to work a trade... but the names of the people you have above would probably get snapped up by at least the Cubs, if not someone else with a worse record, like someone contending for the wildcard.
  4. It's just pure speculation that there are players out there who the Brewers could use that they passed up on. Until a team with a better record than the Brewers claims a player who the Brewers could have used, it's much ado about nothing.
  5. If the Brewers could find a righty-killer (other than Mench, who is getting more expensive and isn't really a righty "killer"), I think Gross would be a passable platoon-mate... Although, if they could find a full-time stud to deal for, using Gross as bait would be fine by me.
  6. It all depends on where the voters' cutoffs are for plate appearances in their minds. But yes, if he's elligible, he should absolutely be in the running.
  7. Reed, you're trying to make a story here where there is none. Your drive to say that the Brewers are being stingy isn't backed up by any evidence other than your concept that there's just gotta be some players out there. If there were players of value that didn't get pulled back, we'd see them being traded.
  8. Please keep comments regarding a specific game in the In-Game Thread.
  9. Check out this thread in the major league forum from a couple of days ago: http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=7136
  10. I guess I don't want to see more than one trading board, as then we're going to have people wanting to split other boards into other sub-categories, and the initial forum page will end up being scroll-city. We can tag messages as being Tickets/SGA/Other ... We can also request that people put SGA:, TICKET: or OTHER: at the beginning of the subject line if need be.
  11. You know, you hear so much from people "if it wasn't for the 24-10 start......". The 24-10 start was 20% of the season. If I could pick out any 34 game stretch and strike it from the record that I chose, the Brewers would have the most commanding divisional lead in baseball.
  12. This sort of belongs in the IGT, but I'd mention it to him, sure. It's not like it's mandatory for him to scream about it or anything.
  13. Tejada was claimed by a team with a 54-61 record, well before the Brewers. Igawa's got a career MLB ERA of 6.79. The Padres put a claim in them because they're actually in worse shape than the Brewers when it comes to the number of starting pitchers they have. Until a significant player gets placed on waivers, that the Brewers can use, and gets claimed by someone with a better record than the Brewers, it's really nothing but blind speculation. I'm sure several players have been claimed by the Brewers (and by other teams), and have gotten pulled back by their respective teams. Just because Ken Rosenthal hasn't reported on it, doesn't mean it hasn't occurred.
  14. See this thread: http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=7153
  15. See if they can get these other two runners home. Nope http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/mad.gif
  16. well, they got one back.
  17. Start threads about the bullpen, please.
  18. It has to deal with the @ symbol in the subject line. When I replaced it wath "at", it displays fine.
  19. Hey Mark A, how about gyros at the stadium.... I'm just sayin'.
  20. The 24-10 start got all of the bandwagoners on board. Then, as most teams do during the course of the year, they struggled. Then they came back, and more recently they struggled. I think most bandwagoners have a memory span of a fruit fly. Either that, or people get WAY too emotional about whatever the most recent trend is.
  21. Just because JP isn't frothing at the mouth when he's critical of the Brewers doesn't mean he's an apologist. Not to mention the fact that Jim has to have a working relationship with these people. What's better, flaming players?... or having a good enough relationship with the players that they'll actually want to be interviewed by you? As someone who walks this line on a much smaller scale, I don't think anyone realizes how hard it is to work with the organization to bring people information, yet put your opinions out there.
  22. I guess we should start drug-testing our users.
  23. The Indians signed Branyan to a minor league deal, so he didn't need to pass through waivers (although, obviously, he did before, because Cleveland was able to sign him to a minor league deal). Joe Kennedy isn't better than anyone the Brewers have to run out there. The Brewers don't need a platoon-only, poor fielding, 37 year old guy like Sweeney. Sure, other teams are making claims, but to do that, you have to have someone on the 25-man roster that's worse than the player you're claiming. To me, none of the players you mentioned fit the bill.
  24. I appreciate whomever put the good word out there for Brewerfan.net, but I would ask that people don't use "from Brewerfan.net" unless they're a staff member of the site. Not that the question asked wasn't something respectful and level-headed, but we've had instances in the past where it had been not the case. And in other news, some fans need to be put on suicide watch.
