  1. SHHHHHH! the brewers are trying to sleep.
  2. I'm beyond venting. I'll be over in apathy.
  3. Weaver on Strategy
  4. If you're going to post here, you're going to need to respect other people's opinions, even if you disagree with them.
  5. A bad fan: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/graphics/art3/0602063inside1a.jpg
  6. I'm on board with a platoon until Corey gets it going. Since June 25th, Corey's hitting .232/.277/.469.
  7. *nudge* This has become a thread about a decision to fire Ned Yost, which was one of the specifically stated "non-goals" at the beginning of the thread. There are other threads where Ned's fate is being discussed.
  8. In a contest between Satan and Mussolini, I cheer for Mussolini.
  9. Depends on the context. If you're being obscene and vulgar at a game about it, then yeah, it's a problem. If you're saying "I don't think Yost is the right manager for the team", I think it's certainly a valid opinion, and doesn't make you any less of a fan. I'm admittedly very optimistic about my Brewers opinions, but I don't think people on the other side of the fence of me are "bad fans". Bad people, yes. But bad fans, no.
  10. I "went out on a limb" before the season started and said they'd win the division. I generally don't stray from my pre-season predicitions unless the team is decimated by injuries. I wouldn't call the Sheets injury "decimating" by itself, but it's pretty significant. With that said, I'll keep my neck out there and say they win the division.
  11. This isn't how we start threads, here. First of all "??????????????????" smacks of rant, as does calling players names. Let's be mature here, please.
  12. TGJ was only activated from the DL today. My assumption is that he's not at 100% and wouldn't have been an option, even if that would have been the man Melvin wanted 13 pitchers isn't all that common... Gross gives them a better lefty option off the bench, especially when power is needed. He can also platoon with Hall in CF if Ned's determined the time has come to do so (and personally, I think it's time).
  13. I wouldn't be surprised if he appealed and it got reduced. 3's just crazy for what he did.
  14. I'd love to have Holliday, but he's one of those guys whose inflated Coors numbers jacks up his trade value. He'd be a solid upgrade, but it would take a LOT of ammo to pry him loose.
  15. The problem here is that you're using the career numbers of a 33-year old to bolster your comparison. I agree with you that Jenkins has been the most productive portion of the platoon, but that comes as no surprise, because more pitchers are right-handed than left-handed. Why does it need to be a free agent that they acquire?
  16. If Rickie can make a U-Turn on defense, so can Braun. He'll be at third for at least another full year.
  17. The problem with that statement is that he's being used in a platoon, so you'd have to include he $ amount it takes to get Mench under contract. Jenkins alone isn't an .862 OPS outfielder.
  18. Gross is by no means an every day left-fielder. And I'm about as pro-Gross as they get. I'd like to see if the Brewers could somehow coax the Angels into giving up Juan Rivera.
  19. Well, Detroit only has the 9th largest payroll, so I'm really not on board with that argument. But yes, obviously the signing constitutes a significant blow to the idea of "slot money". The whole implementation has been a joke to begin with. There are no consequences to the "honor system", other than baseball sitting around for another couple of years before deciding what they should have decided a while ago.... to slot specific money that's non-negotiable for each slot in the draft.
  20. Yeah, so.... Ned started managing in 2003. There were no Moutons on the roster past 2001. I swear, the story gets better every time. Here's what happened. Hoffy was a guy with a history of thread hijacking and condescending remarks. Yes, the thing that IS correct was that he was banned after saying that if someone held a particular opinion, they most be a member of Ned's family. It was one remark in a long list of such condescending remarks over a long period of time, and I was sick of it. Obviously, there are many people (myself included from time to time) who criticize Ned or Ned's decisions, so the argument doesn't hold any water whatsoever. So, for the past two years, he posts threads about Brewerfan.net (or one of the very clever alternative names for the site) and brings up our site in replies to threads, including the statement that he's banned from the site for reasons that get more impressive all the time. 2 years. 2 years complaining about a message board. So then, he started pasting quotes from Brewerfan.net users and making fun of them at the JSOnline boards, so I banned his IPs from viewing the site. Obviously, there are ways around it (that he knows about and we talked about in an email thread), but this was his little way of trying to "rally" any support against the site so that he can somehow feel we was unjustly removed from the site. Predictably, it backfired.... So I'm sure he'll show up in a new venue to keep the pursuit of justice alive.
  21. I had to hide the latest reply. I need to repeat myself, and the policy of the site.... no politics/political figures, please.
  22. My favorite part had to be "think that is called plagerism (kind of rythmes with totalitarianism, doesnt it)". Umm.... is that like how jogging rhymes with surfing? http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/roll.gif
  23. I swear, each time he tells the story about how he get banned (which probably numbers in the 20's) it gets better and better.
  24. No one's untouchable. You throw enough amazing players in the other direction, and any deal is worth making.
