  1. There's some class I-II rivers in SE wisconsin that I hope to practice on when I decide if I want to buy a kayak. The more I can find in my neck of the woods, the better. I didn't try to tip it, although I probably should have. I was more interested in seeing if I liked it in general. Maybe I'll take a lesson or two before I get more serious about it.
  2. Phil Garner's the epitome of retread. I never thought he was that bad. He's vanilla soft-serve.
  3. Decided to try it for the first time up on Lake Minocqua. It's WAY more fun than canoing. I'm very tempted to go out and buy one now.
  4. Teams aren't making moves just to make moves. As you'll notice, the players they're acquiring are players that are an improvement over other players on the roster.
  5. I've probably seen every CourtTV forensic file, dayle hinman, etc etc, show about 5 times now. I very much had been an addict for a long time, especially in the offseason. I've also used up the Science channel, at least as far as astronomy shows go.
  6. Intervention is my guilty pleasure.
  7. Losses are weighted heavier because they should happen less frequently to the good teams.
  8. "Big Z" walked Matt Cain to set up those two runs. Tough break.
  9. I'm not saying he's never gotten a key hit vs. a LHP, but the fact of the matter is that he's only had 53 at-bats all season vs. LHP, whereas an everyday starter like Prince has had 157. That's a statistical advantage for Geoff.
  10. To be fair, he's not starting against most lefties, so the numbers are stacked somewhat in his favor, but I very much agree that he's doing his job.
  11. They don't carry anything. The obstruct your view of the road, make congestion worse on already congested roads, and pollute the environment even further. WIN WIN!

  13. Bumping, as my vote was posted today.

  15. I wasn't implying that he had NO value.... just that they could just go and sign one off the rack instead of giving something of value up... Or just use the one they already got.
  16. Vargas has been lucky, with his WHIP being that high and working out of jams like he has. Besides, would you want to pay that much for a 5th starter when you've got a cheaper, younger 5th starter whose away numbers are close to Vargas's career ERA average?... and giving up one of your better trade chips to boot?
  17. GM's aren't fooled by things as pedestrian as a W/L record.
  18. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y117/phearinc/bushstone.jpg "It appears he missed an excellent chance to keep his mouth shut."
  19. I don't see why the Rangers would have much interest in Vargas. 4.88 career ERA pitchers aren't exactly hard to come by.
  20. Rickie was initially signed to a major league contract, so there were no 40-man roster implications when they called him up for his AFL tune-up. It was also the case that the Brewers weren't in contention when Rickie was given that deal.
  21. Salty has played more than twice as many games for the Rangers at 1B than he has at C. I would think that if the Rangers were interested in keeping him there long-term, they would be trying him more at catcher. Is Laird really available?
